Indie dogs are among the most neglected souls in... our country. They don’t have fancy tags. They don’t come with certificates. But they come with unimaginable loyalty, silent strength, and unconditional love. Yet, every single day, they suffer. They suffer because of our obsession with so-called “premium” breeds. They suffer because they’re born on the streets — with no one to feed them, no roof to protect them, and no hand to hold them when they’re sick or injured. They suffer from hunger, from extreme heat and cold, from road accidents, and from relentless abuse — just for existing in spaces humans have claimed for themselves. Some are kicked. Some are poisoned. Some die in silence with no one even knowing their name. But here's the truth: Indie dogs are resilient, loving, low-maintenance, emotionally intelligent, and they thrive when given even the smallest bit of love. All they want is a corner to call home, a bowl of food, and a heart that sees their worth. Adopt an Indie. Don't overlook them. Because your one decision can rewrite their entire life story. They are not street dogs. They are just unloved dogs. Let's change that. #AdoptAnIndie #VoicelessSoulsshow more

[Discrete Fourier Transform] by Hand ✍️ In signal processing,... the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) is no doubt the most important method. But the math involved is extremely complex, literally, involving a summation over a complex number term e^(-iwt). I developed this exercise to demonstrate that underneath such complexity, DFT is just a series of matrix multiplications you can calculate by hand. ✍️ Once you see that, it should not surprise you that a deep neural network, which is also a series of matrix multiplications, with activation functions in-between, can learn to perform DFT to process and analyze signals so effectively. How does DFT work? [1] Given ↳ Signals A, B, and C in the 🟧 frequency domain: ◦ A = cos(w) + 2cos(2w) ◦ B = cos(w) + cos(3w) + cos(4w) ◦ C = -cos(2w) + cos(3w) ◦ Each signal is a weighed sum of four cosine waves at frequencies 1w, 2w, 3w, and 4w. ◦ We will apply Inverse DFT to convert the signals to time domain representations, and then demonstrate DFT can convert back to their original frequency domain representations. ↳ Signal X in the 🟩 time domain. X is sampled at 10 time points 1t, 2t, …, 10t: ◦ X = [-2.5, -1.8, 3, -0.7, -1.0, -0.7, 3, -1.8, -2.5, 5] ◦ Suppose X is also a weighted sum of the same four cosine waves, but we don’t already know their weights. We will apply DFT to discover them. [2] 🟧 Frequency Matrix (F) ↳ Write the coefficients of A, B, C as a matrix F. Each signal is a row. Each frequency is a column. ↳ A → [1, 2, 0, 0] ↳ B → [1, 0, 1, 1] ↳ C → [0, 1-, 1, 0] [3] Cosine → Discrete ↳ Sample from the continuous cosine waves at discrete time points 1t, 2t, 3t, to 10t. [4] Cosine Matrix (W) ↳ Write the samples as a matrix, Each frequency is a row. Each time point is a column. [5] Inverse DFT: 🟧 Frequency → 🟩 Time ↳ Multiply the frequency matrix F and the cosine matrix W. ↳ The meaning of this multiplication is to linearly combine the four cosine waves (rows in W) into time-domain signals (rows in T) using the weights specified in F. ↳ The result is matrix T, which are signals A, B, C converted to the time domain. Each signal is a row. Each time point is a column. [6] Transpose ↳ Transpose T, converting each signal’s time domain representation from a row to a column. [7] DFT: 🟩 Time → 🟧 Frequency ↳ Multiply the cosine matrix W with the transpose of matrix T. ↳ The purpose of this multiplication is to take a dot-product between each time-domain signal (columns in the transpose of T) and each cosine wave (rows in W), which has the effect of projecting the signal onto a cosine wave to determine how much they are correlated. Zero means not correlated at all. ↳ The result is an intermediate version of the “recovered” frequency matrix where each column corresponds to a signal and each row corresponds to a frequency. ↳ Compared to the original frequency matrix F, this intermediate matrix has non-zero weights in the correct places, but scaled up by a factor of 5 (n/2, n=10). For example, signal A, originally [1,2,0,0], is recovered at [5,10,0,0]. [8] Scale ↳ Multiply each value by 2/n = 1/5 to scale down the intermediate matrix to match the magnitude of the original frequency matrix F. [9] Transpose ↳ Transpose the recovered frequency matrix back to the same orientation of the original frequency matrix F. ↳ Like magic 🪄, the result is identical to the original F, which means DFT successfully recovered the frequency components of signals A, B, C. [10] Apply DFT to X: 🟩 Time → 🟧 Frequency ↳ Now that we have some confidence in DFT’s ability to recover frequency components, we apply DFT to X’s time-domain representation by multiplying W with X. ↳ The result is the an intermediate matrix. [11] Scale ↳ Similarly, we scale down by a factor of 5 to obtain the recovered frequency components of X (a column). [12] Transpose ↳ Similarly, we transpose the recovered column to row to match the orientation of the frequency matrix. ↳ Using the coefficients [0,0,3,2], we can write the equation of X as 3cos(3w) + 2cos(4w). Notes: I hope this by hand exercise helps you understand the essence of DFT. But there is more technical details, such as: • Sine: The complete DFT math also includes sine waves that follow a similar calculation process. • Phase: Here, we assume all the cosine waves are aligned at the origin, namely, phase is 0. If a phase p is added, for example, cos(w+p), we will need to calculate the sine component and use their ratio to figure out what p is. • Magnitude: If phase is not zero, the magnitude will need to be calculated by combining both cosine and sine terms.show more

Labour opened the floodgates. The Tories talked tough and did sweet f*ck all. Both parties are guilty. Decades of weak politicians sold out the British people so they could virtue-signal and import voters. No wonder the country is raging and swinging hard right. HOW I WAS SLAPPED, ASSAULTED BY STORMERS SC GENERAL... MANAGER, MR. LEKAN KELANI. It was a horrific experience during our FA Cup clash against NNL side Stormers SC at the MKO Abiola Stadium today. Throughout the match, several provocative incidents occurred, but one stood out as particularly shocking. At a crucial moment, the referee issued a second yellow card to a Stormers SC player and correctly followed it up with a red card. However, after intense pressure and discussions from Stormers SC officials on the touchline, the referee inexplicably overturned his decision, despite having confirmed it twice before issuing the red card. Another disturbing incident unfolded in the closing minutes of the game, when the Stormers SC coach aggressively confronted the assistant referee and went as far as slapping him. He was shown a red card. The match eventually ended 3–2 in favor of Stormers SC, but what followed after the final whistle was even more alarming. Stormers SC players began chasing and physically intimidating our players, most of whom are under 17 years old. Seeing my team, especially my captain, being manhandled, As the Media Officer, I rushed onto the pitch to protect them. I also attempted to record one of the Stormers SC players, who was being restrained, to prevent him from attacking one of our players. In the midst of the chaos, I was suddenly slapped from behind by the General Manager of Stormers SC, Lekan Kelani. My phone was knocked out of my hand and smashed to the ground, thankfully, only the screen guard was damaged. The situation escalated further as he charged at me again, grabbed my trousers as if I were a criminal, and held onto me for several minutes. During this time, some Stormers SC players also threatened to beat me for trying to break free from their GM. I eventually managed to break free but had to be escorted out of the stadium for my safety. It was only after I got outside that I realized I had lost some of my personal belongings, including my face cap and EarPod. Violence has no place in football. Incidents like this tarnish the spirit of the game and endanger lives. Individuals like Mr. Lekan Kelani should have no place in our football if the sport is to grow with integrity, safety, and respect. I am calling on the Ogun State FA, the NFF, and all passionate supporters of the game to speak up and take decisive action. This injustice must not be allowed to slide. The NFF 🇳🇬 Man of Letters. Facial reconstruction of a 8,000-year-old EHG from Karelia The... individual (Oleny Ostrov grave 75), who carried Y-DNA J1, was found in the famous Neolithic cemetary of Oleny Ostrov. The Oleny Ostrov burial ground is a vast Neolithic necropolis on South Oleny Island in Lake Onega, Karelia. Excavated between 1936 and 1938 by Professor V. I. Ravdonikas, it is one of the most important prehistoric cemeteries in northern Europe. Its significance lies in its large number of burials, exceptionally rich archaeological and anthropological remains, and a distinctive funerary tradition unlike any other known Neolithic cemetery. The site is also notable for its remarkable bone artifacts and unique stone tool assemblage. The individual was described by the anthropologist V.P. Yakimov (1960) as follows: The skeleton was found lying on its back in an extended position. It was oriented with the head toward the east, slightly deviating toward the north. No grave goods were present. Determining the sex is rather difficult because the diagnostic characteristics are only weakly expressed. The individual was most likely male, although some uncertainty remains. The individual died at a mature adult age. The skull is medium-sized, elongated, and heavy, with very thick cranial bones but only moderate brow ridges and cranial relief. The forehead is moderately sloping, the cranial vault long with flattened parietals, and the occiput bears a low occipital torus. The face is relatively high and of medium breadth. It exhibits considerable flatness in both the orbital and zygomatic regions. The canine fossae are moderately expressed (grade 2). The cheekbones are low. In frontal view, the contour of the zygomatic bones is intermediate between the classic "Europoid" form, with a pronounced hook at the zygomaxillary suture, and the "Mongolid" form, where the transition between the maxillary and zygomatic bones is smooth and lacks such a hook. The nasal aperture is narrow, prominent but flattened-root nasal bones, and an orthognathous profile. The mandible is medium-sized but robust, with a thick body, broad rami, and a moderately projecting chin. The teeth are relatively small with light to moderate wear. The limb bones are generally slender with weak to moderate muscle markings, although the humeri are relatively robust. The clavicles are long, slender, and strongly curved. The individual (UOO059) carried Y-DNA J1 and mtDNA R1b. His maternal lineage has been identified in the ANE individual Afontova Gora 3, while his Y-DNA lineage has been found in several other EHG individuals, including two other at Oleny Ostrov and one at Popovo nearby. Although its ultimate origin remains uncertain. Its relationship to the J1 lineage from Satsurblia may suggest that it spread from the Caucasus to Karelia along the Volga. Autosomally, he was a typical Karelian EHG. Karelian EHGs differed slightly from the main Sidelkino EHG cluster by harboring additional ANE/less WHG admixture.show more

I'm a 35-year-old American I've lived in Argentina for... 5 months so far in 2025 Here are the some things I like more about Argentina than the USA: -It's SIGNIFICANTLY easier to make friends in Argentina. Seriously, I lived in Colorado for the last 10 years, and I was beginning to think I was some fucking weirdo bc of how small my social circle was. The social life here is just so organic. If you're not a weirdo, you just attract friends...especially as an ex-pat. Everyone is always about milling around the city, playing sports, drinking mate, going to cafes/boliches/concerts/events. I don't know why, but in 5 months here, my social circle is already bigger and stronger than the one I had in 10 years in Denver, Colorado. -Politics isn't life here. There's some type of weird brain virus that's destroying the minds of the American people. Politics has seeped into every aspect of the culture fabric and it's become this weird, unavoidable daily reality. In Argentina, the people are well-informed about politics and global affairs, but it doesn't dominate the conversation. Very refreshing for me. -People are generally healthier and more beautiful. In general, the Argentines are some healthy, skinny, beautiful mf's. The men, the women, everyone. No radical Ozempic intervention is required here. -People have less money, but more time and more soul. Average wages here are absolute shite, and so is the Argentine Peso...but people seem to have more time, more energy and less stress, generally. People in the USA have a lot of money, but not a lot of soul. Here it;s the opposite. I've confronted some of the dark aspects of the economic realities here, but generally people are extremely present, laid back and "amable". I'd describe the people here as passionate "life-enjoyers." They are passionate about everything they do. They do it with gusto, soul, and UMPH. Mate - We love that shit Soccer - Hell yeah Hanging out at the park with some dogs - WE Live for this shit Living here has made me appreciate my life so much more. Concerns Raised Over Managerial Conduct at Equity Bank There... appears to be growing concerns among staff regarding the conduct of a senior credit officer, with allegations of unprofessional behaviour surfacing across multiple instances. Reports from employees suggest that workplace tensions have been escalating, with claims of hostility, intimidation, and, in some cases, near-physical confrontations. Despite complaints purportedly being raised through internal channels, some sources indicate that no substantive action has been taken, leading to speculation about whether internal oversight mechanisms are being effectively applied. According to accounts from individuals familiar with the situation, the officer in question has allegedly developed a reputation for dismissing grievances brought against him, reportedly claiming that complaints will not lead to any consequences. Some employees believe that his confidence in avoiding disciplinary measures stems from support within the bank’s hierarchy, though no official confirmation of such protections exists. The latest alleged incident, captured on video, appears to show him expelling credit staff from a meeting over a five-minute delay, with reports suggesting that the employees had encountered transport disruptions due to planned demonstrations along Thika Road. Despite what some describe as a reasonable explanation for their lateness, he is said to have refused to engage in any discussion, instead instructing them to leave the meeting. Following the incident, affected employees are believed to have escalated their grievances to the relevant departments, but there are claims that the matter was not meaningfully addressed. Some staff now suggest that this lack of intervention has emboldened the officer, with reports emerging that his interactions with both colleagues and customers have become increasingly strained. One particularly concerning account describes an alleged confrontation on 25 January 2025, when he is said to have berated a client seeking assistance, along with the security personnel accompanying them. Witnesses claim that when customer service supervisors attempted to intervene, the situation escalated into a heated verbal exchange, drawing attention from other clients in the branch. "Hi Nyakundi. Hide my identity. There is this Equity Bank Credit Manager stationed at Kariobangi Branch by the name James Gakundi. The guy has been so unprofessional in dealing with staff and has even gone to the extent of almost engaging fellow staff in fistfights; it's been his mode of operation even from previous branches he has worked at. The guy seems to have a godfather because all the incidents are reported, and no action has ever been taken against him, and he even boasts about it, saying even if you report him to anybody within the ranks, there is nothing that will be done. On this particular video, he is pushing the credit staff out of the meeting for being 5 minutes late without listening to the reasons behind their lateness. The subject staff stay along Thika Road, and this specific day, the Gen Zs had planned for riots; hence there were matatus on the road. The guys tried their best to get to the office, but he became unruly and pushed them out as per the video. This incident was reported to the relevant departments, but since he has people who support him, the case never got resolved. However, he now became very sarcastic and bullish to the staff, with pride that no matter where you report him, nothing will ever be done to him. This is a corporate institution, but the guy has made it look like a casual mjengo organization where he threatens and intimidates staff and even customers. On 25th January 2025, he was harassing a customer who had visited his office for an inquiry together with the security lady who had accompanied the client to show her the office; when the customer service supervisors interjected, he blew out with noise and unruliness, prompting the clients who were in the office to interject. Is this the way Equity Managers are supposed to handle both staff and clients in this era of mental health awareness? Kindly expose this to the public."show more

In the summer of 2023, I cold emailed Jensen... Huang and asked to capture a NeRF of him at SIGGRAPH. He responded in about an hour and said yes. A radiance field is, in the simplest terms, akin to a 3D photograph. A moment in time, so completely reconstructed that you can move through it and see it from angles the original cameras never occupied. NeRFs were the original method. Gaussian splatting, which debuted at that same SIGGRAPH, has since become the dominant form of radiance field. I called my late friend James, who told me we needed to begin practicing immediately. We ran capture after capture for weeks until we consistently got the capture time down to ~30 seconds with one camera. Later, in a hallway at the LA Convention Center during SIGGRAPH, I captured the portrait you're seeing now, a full 360° gaussian splat of Jensen, rendered here as a 2D flythrough. Afterward, I continued the conversation with him and members of his team to make the case for radiance fields as a foundational representation for imaging. To my surprise, they listened. Three years later, NVIDIA has several works, including NuRec, fVDB, 3DGRUT, and gsplat all utilizing radiance fields. The landscape has evolved enough that the reasoning is obvious. Gaussian splatting has begun to ship across some of the world’s largest industries, including autonomous vehicles, AEC, geospatial, media and entertainment, robotics, e-commerce, hospitality. It’s become clear that lifelike 3D is here to stay. And yet I think we will look back and be disappointed by how late we started taking 3D portraits of the people around us, just like how we have sparse 2D photos of our grandparents and great grandparents. We have billions of photographs of the people we know and love, but almost no radiance fields of them. I'll be returning to SIGGRAPH in LA where this was initially captured three years ago, with the landscape looking significantly different. Radiance fields are more under deployed than ever relative to what they can do. I'm excited for the future of imaging, and for 2D to transition into 3D. I have a few things up my sleeve that I think will make that case plainly.show more

UPDATE: my wife and I agreed last night, that... if Echo puked at all this morning, even once even a little bit, or if he refused to eat…. we would be taking him to the vet for a sonogram because our concern at that point would be a spleen or a pancreas or a blockage of some kind - but I am happy to report that Echo managed to eat a third full cup of chicken and rice assertively today and no puking yet. So that’s probably 3 cups in total, today with no pukes. We are in the process of rebuilding the stomach lining that was puked out mostly all over my driveway over the past day and a half. It really does feel like we’ve been able to get things stabilized now. THANKS AGAIN, for all the incoming love and support and prayers. I’m like 80% we’re on the mend now.
