Saw a few comments about when you use FSD... you just sit there like a zombie not paying attention but it’s the complete opposite. When I use FSD my situational awareness is higher than anyone driving manually. I don’t have to hyper focus on a number on the screen or keeping my car between two lines and can focus on everything else around me. A fun new hobby of mine is taking the... Tesla to different areas to see how FSD performs. A few days ago I drove from Long Island to Atlantic City. FSD did 99% of the driving. A Tesla on Full Self-Driving blows through a stop... sign at 35mph and nearly collides with two cars. The kicker is that this was during a livestream debate-demo-drive between FSD fan Ross Gerber and FSD skeptic Dan O'Dowd. This should go without saying, but for an automated system to be at the safety level of a human, this cannot happen. The fact that this occurred yesterday during THIS drive (along with other safety-critical disengagements) should serve as statistical evidence of how frequent this is occurring. Driving behind a car that suddenly starts reversing because... someone in front wants to park. The guy in front reversed pretty fast, so I almost overtook, but FSD automatically reversed too. When there was enough space to park, the car in front kept reversing… I panicked, honked, and then realised FSD was stopping for a cyclist behind me and still handling it perfectly and even backing up more after the cyclist has passed. #Tesla #FSD #knokkeshow more

Another example of Tesla Self driving better than humans.... I’m following this Legacy SUV in my Cybertruck on FSD 14.2.2.1 and we feel the brakes and are like what’s going on. Then see a deer ahead in front of SUV run past road. Deer makes it across but what is funny but not funny the SUV doesn’t even tap brakes. Don’t even look liked they slowed down. You can see us slowing down behind SUV after deer crosses. This is all done by FSD. I did nothing. People often ask me if I trust FSD. I always say yes. More than humans for sure. FSD took me into the HOV lane yet again... today despite me being the only passenger in the car. This time when I yanked it back into non-HOV lane and tried to engage FSD again, it blinked red asking me to take over immediately and displayed a message on screen saying FSD aborted due to system error. By far the most unsafe driving by FSD HW#3... in my 8 year experience with it. Navigation gets confused and takes this left instead of the suicide lane next intersection. I was hoping it would slow down to a stop but it did not. The car to the right was thankfully paying attention and acted defensively to prevent an accident! One of my favorite things about Tesla FSD is... seeing what it unlocks for my kids. Today my Cybertruck was driving itself down the highway while my 7-year-old turned the center console into his own little racetrack. Instead of asking, “Are we there yet?” he’s completely entertained, using his imagination, and making memories. The other day, FSD was driving me home, and... I was surprised to see it taking forever to complete an automatic lane change. Just as I was about to intervene, I noticed a motorcycle pass me, seemingly out of nowhere. FSD had been tracking the motorcyclist and was aware of its location the entire time. As soon as the motorcyclist passed, the ego car safely completed the lane change. As a motorcyclist myself, this made me very happy as it is yet another example of how FSD is making our roadways safer. Great work Tesla AI team!show more

Here's a not-so-great Tesla Full Self-Driving moment from last... evening. While taking an exit ramp, I think the AEB system activated and the car slowed to 13MPH. I’m not sure if it was reacting to the road, shadowed area, bridge, or lights above. I’m sure it was AEB because the accelerator pedal input was ignored even after FSD was disabled. Thankfully, there was no harm, no foul, as no one was behind us.show more

NEWS: Tesla's fleet has now driven 12 billion miles... on Full Self-Driving The count passed 12 billion this week, just a month after hitting 11 billion on June 9. About 4.5 billion of those miles were on city streets. The pace is speeding up fast. The fleet now adds around 30 million miles a day, up from 14 million a day at the start of the year. Each new billion is arriving quicker than the last. Why this number matters. Elon Musk has said Tesla needs roughly 10 billion miles of real driving data to make self-driving safe enough to run unsupervised. The fleet is now well past that and the data trains the system to handle rare, tricky situations. Tesla's own safety report says cars on FSD have one major crash every 5.3 million miles, versus one every 660,000 for the average US driver. FSD is still a supervised system.
