Some Core Keeper modders are putting 3D mining robots... into the game - very cool 🔥 Great work by LordOfCloud + May, & the tank model by Bitwise + Lantern0728 (have been tinkering with some similar ideas, so it's especially fun seeing modders already pulling this off before us)show more

After a cool feeling weekend for some of us,... things are set to change as we move into the week ahead. A change in wind direction by mid-week will likely bring some very warm and humid weather our way 🌡️ This may come with the risk of some heavy and thundery showers though 🌩️show more

✨ 3d models are now LIVE on Photo AI... 😊 You can now turn any AI photo you make into a 3d model by pressing [ 📦 Make 3d model ] And then you can view it inside Photo AI or download it as a .GLB 3d model file It's still very early in AI generated 3d model world but it's nice to have this feature working already As always, the models will keep improving, so this feature will keep getting better (like it did with video, it sucked before, now it's getting passable) Next would be nice to switch to .USDZ so you can load it straight into your iPhone with ARKit and put it in your room Available now for everyone on the Premium and Ultra planshow more

One thing we are watching now is potential ERC... (eyewall replacement cycle) beginning. Pressure / wind may have temporarily peaked. Some of the hurricane models have suggested multiple eyewall replacement cycles through Tuesday. For tonight, it is possible this eyewall replacement is quick then we see another dip even stronger overnight with lower pressure and even higher winds. These eyewall replacement cycles will have impacts on how the storm comes into FL Wednesday night. Eventually these should grow the eye and core with time. If the cycles are finished before it hits the wind shear, that could make it a little more resilient to the wind shear. A smaller eye and core probably gets bothered more by the dry air intrusion/wind shear that should be meeting up with #Milton late Wednesday off the Tampa coast. So, these cycles are important in the eventual core structure as it nears the coast late WED.show more

We may have some #aurora fun coming! More than... 4 solar storms have been launched in the past few days from Region 4334. Some of them are headed to Earth! Along with the fast solar wind picking up by January 9, we could see a bumpy ride with storm conditions peaking January 11. G1 conditions expected thus far, but another storm just launched so forecasts may be changing rapidly! The first video highlights storms launched since January 6. The second video shows a closeup of Storms 3 and 4, which launched today in the Earth-Strike Zone. More analysis is coming.show more

Today is the one-year anniversary of Colossus going into... print Some things you might find interesting about year one… - to kick off issue one, I was scheduled to see Graham Duncan in California, and I planned to ask him if he’d do this experiment with us as the first cover story. The day before I left, my team decided to make a mock physical magazine with him on the cover. That was fun to deliver. Graham trusted us to do two things we’d never done before (write a profile, and make a magazine). He was so patient and kind to us all. - everyone (I mean, everyone) told us this was a stupid idea. “A…magazine?!” The best opportunities seem like bad ideas but are good ideas. Seemingly bad ideas have very little competition. It seemed bad because most magazines are dead or dying. But it was good because people are craving things which are detailed and hard to make as we enter the slop era of content. Now we are wondering “what’s even harder to make?” - obsession is the most important attribute of a good story for Colossus: a writer obsessed with a subject, writing about a subject who is obsessed with something else. Or a writer obsessed with a topic on everyone’s mind, which hasn’t yet been fully explored. So excited to see what year two has in store, and to share some of the projects already in the works. Thanks for reading and for telling your friends.show more

How are developers scaling their work with AI? Some... Cline users are moving beyond 1:1 pairing, experimenting with orchestrating multiple instances simultaneously. Imagine managing several Cline workstreams, each on a different feature branch, tackling tasks in parallel. Integration happens via standard Git PRs, sometimes even reviewed/merged by another dedicated Cline instance. This points to a potential future where developers orchestrate AI-driven workstreams, leveraging familiar Git practices to manage parallel development. The video below shows one example of this approach in action. It's fascinating seeing the community explore this, and it gives us ideas...show more

I think it's interesting that we're starting to see... different types of specialists emerge in the field of Generative AI technology. We are seeing a new generation of world-class storytellers. Some are immaculate at vibe coding workflows and building infrastructures. Some are incredible at AI visual effects and AI cinematography. And some are just maestros at composition and world-building. And of course, many of us dip into all facets. We are witnessing the emergence of new creative and technical roles that didn't exist yesterday, and that's very exciting. And now we are starting to see the benefits of AI as an additive to existing workflows. I hope to work with many of you for the upcoming productions we have in the works at Promise.show more

An event is ongoing on the south coast in... the Eastleigh beach/Portsmouth area tonight. For the first time large numbers of migrants have been intercepted heading for that area of coastline and been picked up by RNLI and border force boats. A large number of processing tents have been set up behind the beach with a number of coaches waiting to take them to accommodation. However, a large number of the Patriots group who were present in Dover yesterday, led by Danny Tommo got wind of this and have blockaded the one road out of Eastleigh and off the island. Very cleverly may of the men who have got to the beach are standing in the water, knowing that legally police are unable to enter the water to arrest them. More men are arriving all the time, from all over England. It’s a very impressive show of peaceful force. The call has gone out for warm and waterproof clothes, boats, power banks and food/drink as the expectation is that these men are not moving and this stand off could go through the night and into Monday. Great work…show your support.show more

introducing a new, very fun, LLM benchmark- the Game-of-Life... Bench! the rules are simple: given an 8x8 grid following Conway's game of life rules, the goal is to create an initial pattern with at most 32 cells that can last the longest number of turns before dying/repeating. some results to highlight (with caveats detailed below): - gpt 5.1 lasts the longest with a 106 step run - claude models are really bad at this! they refuse to reason about this task and score < 25 points - deepseek r1 is the best open model with 102 steps. why? because i wanted to create a benchmark that has (i think) no practicality, but is still fun to look at, cheap, and still measures something interesting. i also am a big fan of the game of life. its absurdly simple rules leading to intractability is extremely cool to me. also, i saw a lot of work with LLMs trying to "predict" the next state in Conway's game of life, I think game-of-life bench is more fun because it's pretty open ended and only asks the LLM for the initial state. I also think this could be an RL env? but idk why you would ever train on this task haha i don't think this is a "serious" benchmark because it doesnt measure anything practical, but i still think it's a hard benchmark exactly because you can't predict what happens with your initial state many turns into the future; this is why i was initially expecting all LLMs to be bad at it, but turns out, some are clearly better than the others (the ordering may surprise you!) reminder: this is still a work-in-progress; (1) i am gpu-poor so could only do 10 runs for each model, even though total running cost is relatively low. maybe with some more credits i can run more seeds for each model. (2) i handpicked models which i think are at the frontier right now, plus some others that were on my mind. so, if you'd like to see a model on here, let me know. (3) i currently only do an 8x8 grid because i thought that by itself would be pretty hard for current LLMs, but of course we can increase grid sizes! (4) the coolest thing is, i dont think we can calculate the max possible number of states (yay undecidability!) you can go without repeating, so this is essentially a no-ceiling task, which is pretty cool! again, i did this mostly out of a desire to make LLMs do something fun. if this keeps me entertained for a few more days, i'd likely release a blog post on it. if it keeps me entertained for a week (and someone sponsors me), i'll put more work into it :P lastly, this is fully open sourced, so feel free to run this on your own!show more

Moist Conveyer Belt Builds over Florida! And a big... shift too. The models are coming into much better agreement on a significant, but not deluge, rain event for West-Central Florida this weekend through next week. Heaviest totals will be along the coast. Emphasis “coast”. Expect on and off downpours - not always a washout - with the worst weather Sunday & Monday. Models show a widespread 2-4” Sanibel to Tampa to Crystal River to Panama City, but obviously with tropical bands/ downpours some spots will see much more with some localized flooding too. *BUT there’s been a noticeable shift “West” into the #Gulf next week with the moisture blob pulling away. So the spigot shuts down more quickly from Tampa southward by Tuesday. #florida #stormshow more

Footage was posted yesterday by someone claiming to be... a Lebanese Resident, which appears to show an Unidentified Stealth Drone operating off the Coast of Southern Lebanon. The Drone looks similar to the Northrop Grumman RQ-180, which entered Active Service with the U.S. Air Force in around 2016, but has a Distinct Body that does not match what few Images have been seen of the RQ-180. Some have suggested that this may be the RA-01, a Top Secret Drone developed by Israel and only recently revealed by the Leak of several Highly-Classified U.S. Intelligence Documents related to an Israeli Strike against Iran; however, what the RA-01 looks like or any of its Design Characteristics are still Unknown.show more
