If order to hit a big league fastball your... brain needs to decide to pull the trigger roughly 25 feet from the ball reaching the plate…. In order to do that, your eyes must be oriented at a spot 25 feet to your left for a righty or 25 feet to your right if you are a lefty…. This begs the question what is the point of hitting off of a tee?…The body will never work the same vs a live ball…. Look how different Mike Trout looks when hitting off of a tee vs hitting a live ball…Watch his left arm and left shoulder do completely different things. The right forearm supinates vs an overhand pitch but it pronates vs the tee…. It’s a function of where the biceps inserts onto the radius. There isn’t a hitter on earth that will use the same swing mechanics off of a tee as they will vs an overhand pitch.show more

This dog Decoy was out on the pitcher’s mound... for the first pitch when Shohei Ohtani set him down and the little guy snatched the baseball right in his mouth and took off running full speed across the dirt with his tail wagging like crazy. Ohtani crouched down laughing the whole time as Decoy came charging back all excited for some pets and a quick high-five right there in front of the crowd. Would you let your dog pull a stunt like that at a big league game or keep him on the couch where it’s safe?show more

I don’t think the media understands that we don’t... give a fuck if Shedeur Sanders throws two interceptions Sunday or holds on to the ball for too long. We just want to see HIM PLAY and his o-line to give him time in the pocket! Riding with him to the wheels fall off and IF he succeeds DESPITE clear QB development and coaching failures then we will be happy. If he has a bad game we gonna say LET HIS ASS START SOME MORE JUST LIKE YOU DID DILLON GABRIEL! He needs MORE THAN A WEEKS WORTH OF REPS!show more

Forecasts are calling for another round of potentially heavy... snow for eastern Ontario, arriving as early as overnight tonight and continuing throughout Wednesday (January 21st). Be prepared. If you have to be on the roads Wednesday, give yourself extra time, clear ALL the snow from your vehicle, adjust your driving to match conditions (slow down and leave extra following distance), keep full headlight system turned on and keep your eyes on the road. If you are behind a working snowplow, stay there. Consider adding an emergency kit to your vehicle, and make sure to top up your fuel and windshield washer fluid. Check for road conditions before heading out, and monitor local radio for road and weather updates while you're driving. #ONHwys #OttTraffic #ONStorm #DriveSafe ^bdshow more

I have not seen enough about the decision from... Mike Vrabel and Tim Kelly to go for 2 down by 8 last night. Here’s why I loved it: 1) NFL teams this season have been successful on 55% of two-point conversion attempts. The odds were in the Titans’ favor. 2) Will Levis was dealing in the 2nd half. 3) Titans still had all three timeouts and the two-minute warning. 4) Miami struggled to move the ball on offense all night. Their three scoring drives went for 12, 7, and 59 yards. 5) If successful on the two-point conversion, a stop on defense and a TD wins the game. If unsuccessful, you can still send it to OT. 6) Titans offense marched down the field, scored the TD to make it a one possession game and essentially told Miami, “we are going for two because we know you cannot stop us right now.” The odds are in your favor. It’s a good mathematical decision. You want to psych out an opposing offense? Give them the ball knowing they need to run the clock out, or you are going to have a chance to WIN the game, not send it to overtime. They saw what your offense just did to their defense. They saw your QB on the sideline screaming and hyping everyone up. Cutting the lead to six put WAY more pressure on the Dolphins offense. You want to hype up your defense? Put them back on the field knowing your offense just did their job. Put them back on the field knowing a stop and a TD wins it. At that point, they aren’t in the mindset of “we need a stop to have a chance to go to OT.” They are thinking, “let’s go out here, get a stop, and give our offense a chance to WIN.” There’s a fundamental difference in playing to WIN and playing NOT to LOSE. This was a decision by a coaching staff that was playing to WIN. Brilliant game by Vrabel and Kelly. Brilliant execution late in the game by the offense and the defense. Completely out-coached one of the best offensive minds in the game. #Titansshow more

At some point when reviewing plays, the league should... consider adding a speed threshold for anything involving the element of time. When you slow plays down to 1/100th the speed, it distorts what actually happened and makes it look like, in this case, Cooks possessed the ball for seconds prior to losing it. The game is not played in slow motion or frame by frame. For a catch: A) Secure control of the ball ✅ B) Two feet down in bounds ✅ C) After (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, clearly performs any act common to the game (e.g., extend the ball forward, take an additional step, tuck the ball away and turn upfield, or avoid or ward off an opponent), or he maintains control of the ball long enough to do so. C is where there is a judgement needed since A and B are clearly met. Now consider this note to the rule: If a player, who satisfied (a) and (b), but has not satisfied (c), contacts the ground and loses control of the ball, it is an incomplete pass if the ball hits the ground before he regains control, or if he regains control out of bounds. Because Cooks did lose control of the ball when he contacted the ground and the ball never contacted the ground, it was ruled an interception by Denver.show more

Bogoljub Markovic Film + Notes 🧵 Best thing I... saw: Loved his feel for the game. He was so good out of the short roll. Always knew where everyone on the floor was and made quick decisions with the ball. Biggest Concern: He was just throw around like a doll down low. When hedging screens he had such a hard time getting back to his man and being in good position to box out. Even when in good position, he still got thrown around pretty easily. Offense: - Extremely high IQ - Quick decision maker - his shot is super smooth / high release and quick trigger - Really solid feel when catching in the short roll / but hard to get him in good position on the roll bc of him not being big enough to hold guys behind him - great feel for spacing on and off ball - really solid ball handling for his size / had some good moments getting a rebound and pushing the ball up the floor - a lot better finishing through traffic than actually finishing through contact - not really going to be able to create his own shot at any point / it’s either catch and shoot or catch pump fake and drive or catch and finish Defense - Hard for him to get back in position when hedging screens because of the weight - ^ piggy backing off this, thought he had the foot speed and length to hang with guys on the perimeter (Mega Superbet just had really small guards so they had to run this drop to keep them out of bad switches) - is not a big that’s going to excel in drop coverage - wouldn’t classify him as a 5. He’s definitely a 4 - doesn’t offer much rim protection at all - doesn’t offer much help side defense - was bullied down low fighting for rebounds / even when in position he was easily pushed out the wayshow more

Was This a Stonewall Penalty? Breaking Down Khusanov’s Challenge... on João Pedro The Positioning: Joao Pedro is in full control of the ball, driving into the Manchester City penalty box. Rather than trailing behind, Khusanov has actually recovered enough ground to get alongside and slightly ahead of Joao Pedro. Khusanov is cutting across Pedro's running path to get his body between the attacker and the ball. The Contact: In this exact moment, Khusanov is not pushing Joao Pedro in the back. Instead, Khusanov is leaning his body weight leftwards into Joao Pedro to shield the ball. It is actually Joao Pedro who has his left arm extended with his hand resting on Khusanov's back/shoulder area as they battle for position. In football, a defender is allowed to step across an attacker and use their body to shield the ball once they have established position, provided it is within playing distance of the ball. Since Khusanov is using his body to block the run and it's shoulder-to-shoulder (with Pedro's hand on him), this changes the dynamic completely from a "push." Looking at this specific angle, it looks much more like a standard physical battle where the defender successfully "boxes out" the attacker. Because Khusanov uses his body positioning legally to ease Pedro off the ball rather than illegally shoving him from behind, the referee’s decision not to award a penalty is the correct one.show more

Strong hip flexors keep your knee drive holding up... when the late-race fatigue sets in. The kettlebell hip flexor march is a running-specific way to train them. Single leg, upright, knee driving up with load. Focus points: → Stand tall on one leg → Place a light kettlebell on top of the opposite foot → Brace your core before you lift → Drive the knee up to 90°, hold the kettlebell balanced → Lower slow and controlled, don't let the foot touch down between reps → Stay tall through the standing leg, no leaning back 3 x 8-12 per leg. Aim for RPE 7. The standing leg gets a stability challenge. The driving leg gets loaded hip flexion. And your shin works isometrically to keep the kettlebell from sliding off. Here's GameDay 3D on the Cole/Rizzo play. Clearly and... obviously all on Cole for those still not believing all the former pros and coaches patiently explaining it to you. A few notes from the 3D: 1) Rizzo has to cover ground, positioned for a righty. Not seen on the broadcast, but it wasn't in front of him at all. 2) The spin on the "cued" ball is evident, and Rizzo smartly stayed back anticipating it. If he charges this ball, he likely misses it. 3) When Rizzo leans back for the bad bounce, it makes it impossible for him to beat Betts to the bag. Betts is at full speed, Rizzo from a standstill. 4) Cole clearly breaks to cover 1B, and Rizzo can see this before fielding the ball, he has every reason to believe Cole will be covering when he looks up after gloving the ball 5) Cole clearly would have beaten Betts to the bag had he continued to run to cover And as we all know, there is simply no excuse for the pitcher to not get there even on routine plays, just in case. If he does? Yankees up 5-0 after 5 innings and there's a game tonight in LA. Not Gaetti Lou Merloni Gregg Olson Doug Mientkiewicz @TheRealHos305 ATshow more

🇺🇸 ELON: “IF WE TAKE OUR EYE OFF THE... BALL, THE WASTE AND FRAUD WILL COME ROARING BACK” Elon delivered another devastating truth bomb earlier this year, and Washington should be paying attention: “If we take our eye off the ball, the waste and fraud will come roaring back.” And he's absolutely right, because it’s already happening. From COVID relief scams, to $100+ billion in vanished government spending, to Minnesota’s Somali daycare scandal (where the state is still sending checks while the DOJ racks up convictions), the message is clear: Fraud never left… it just got smarter. We’ve got bloated agencies writing blank checks, zero oversight, and politicians too busy playing PR games to care where your money goes. Elon isn’t just talking about waste though, he’s calling out a systemic rot where fraud is treated like a rounding error instead of a crisis. The second the public stops watching, the grift machine revs back up, and it’s funded by your paycheck. Americans don’t need more audits, they need a cultural purge of political cowardice and bureaucratic incompetence. Keep your eyes on the ball, because they’re counting on you to look away. My final video from last nights findings. As I... was walking down canal street I noticed this girl walking down the street alone only to be stopped by 2 Pakistani lads (in fairness they seemed similar age). After she started walking backwards and they followed I hung back to see if she was ok. They ended up talking right in front of me. Whilst the guys were trying it on with her and you could say the girl was flirting back she then looked at me right in the eyes and said “help me, help”. I’m not sure how serious she was but a taxi was booked for her to get home. Blur added for the girls privacy. We’ve seen guys like Judge, Stanton, Wells and others... tinker with their stances to get into a better hitting position to attack strikes in the zone. When a guy like Volpe has struggled to hit consistently for his first 3 years, is constantly late on mid-velocity heaters in the middle of the zone and is constantly off-balance when he misses the off-speed stuff; you think to take a look at his pre-pitch habits especially what he’s doing with his hands and stride, and consider eliminating some of the unnecessary movements to simplify things and be ready to attack a pitch in the strike zone sooner. Volpe starts with his hands high above his head with some waggle to probably keep his hands moving and stay in rhythm, then as he strides he drops his hands into the slot while he loads, then wraps his hands behind him as he strides and keeps his weight back on his backside. That front foot needs to get down early as he gets his hands back to be ready to smoke something in the zone. Why hasn’t someone suggested dropping his hands pre-pitch in his stance to get them into the slot early, keep them back to prevent wrapping, and cut out one less moving part to get him better ready to attack pitches in the zone? He can even still have some waggle back there if he prefers to keep his hands moving. In theory if his hands are down and back already, all he needs to do is get his front foot down in time? It’s worth a try lolshow more

"You cannot treat a 15-year-old talent like a musical... chair!" — Ravi Shastri absolutely fires up the commentary box after Vaibhav Suryavanshi gets dropped for the 5th T20I🚨😡🗣️ "Listen, if you are going to pick a 15-year-old boy based on an insane IPL season and throw him straight into English conditions against Jofra Archer, you have to be ready to back him through the storms! You cannot treat a generational talent like a game of musical chairs—dropping him after scores of 14, 13, and 15 makes no sense. International cricket is a different beast, the short-ball parameters are harsh, but how is he supposed to adapt if he's looking over his shoulder after every single failure?
