Gaussian splatting is so good at capturing context. For... me, it has changed my approach to volumetric photography. For me with photogrammetry, it was very much either object-based, space based, or facade-based, always with the subject’s bounds being very clearly defined during capture But with splats, I can think more frustum-based, composing a scene with a foreground, background, and subject, and shooting it. Okay yall. I did it. Textured + Holographic Gold... art pieces are working out. I've always wanted to do Gold ones but I knew I wanted to make it holographic (at least). Well this is textured too. It's a pain in the butt to make. But it's beautiful. Because it's a lot more work, I'm charging $5 more than the regular ones. We have over $250k in scheduled jobs just in... April alone A 5x increase over last April. Our biggest and most frustrating challenge by far is speed to scale. I could add another $250k with the click of a button, and I could press this button 30x over every 4 months. I could expand the service area and amplify it even more. But I can’t, because we can’t fulfill more than that without more equipment. I can’t just infinitely buy equipment either, it takes time to build up. The thought of taking on an investor has been discussed many times, but that’s another challenge, because it needs to be the right investor. Money alone isn’t the right investor. We need one that understands the industry and is well connected in it. We also have over 100 people ready to buy into a franchise model. A model that has already been built over the Winter. The possibilities are endless, but the decisions have become much more complex and more impactful.show more

While I have premium I definitely want to do... a long post breaking down the main scene from this show that I obsess with. There's so much that I feel could be learned from it. Not just for expansion animators either. There's honestly a LOT that can be learned from how this show directed its expansion scenes that can be applied to even safe for work animations. Obviously yes, the expansion alone is really good. What makes it so good though is just the fact that there's things you pick up on that you likely don't even realize until you re-watch. I'm using this scene as an example as it's not AS good I would say, but it still has a lot going for it. One thing I've always loved from it that I want to use in my own animations someday is that the expansion sort of comes in waves as opposed to one consistent growth. In a way, it makes it feel more natural while also selling how tight the top is getting. It could have been accompanied by showing the knot getting tighter or smaller with each growth. It's a small part of the animation but just that one thing already adds another layer to appreciate. It's not like most expansion scenes where there's very little outside of just "growing" on its own. There's a bunch of little things that subtly improve it without being obnoxious. The first expansion scene has WAY more that I want to talk about honestly. Far more than this one has. It will probably be a really long post now that I think about it...show more

Last post on this I'd appreciate if people took... the time to read it and share it because I think when people listen they deserve credit but TRNSMT have done more than that I complained about the disabled situation TRNSMT Festival and I think the fact that they listened and made changes is the kind of progressive attitude we need towards disabled facilities. I wasn't complaining to come across as some sort of Karen, it just genuinely would've been a health and safety risk. So I think it's only right that I commend them for the work they've done with the platform this year. The platform has many key things that I think make it the best at any festival I've been at. 1.Clear marked out lanes for people to move out to the toilets and back to their seat to avoid congestion and create space 2. A bar for disabled people beside the platform this is amazing. 3. Toilets well spaced out as well as a changing places toilets for people who more severe disabilities beside the platform. 4. Plenty of space in the toilets. 5. It's huge and you feel really close to the stageshow more

People still don't understand how good Codex has become... 👀 I asked it to build this Starbucks website and within some 30 minutes it generated this without me touching a single line of code or spending time looking for assets either. Imagen generated every visual and GPT hooked everything into the codebase. After a couple of small tweaks it all just worked. It didn't even use half of my Codex session. It's super surprising to see quality of the assets. Was way better than I expected. That made me think about what AI is actually changing. Being a developer or a designer was never just about doing the work, writing code or designing it using some kind of tool. It was about knowing what to build in the first place. AI is getting incredibly good at the doing. The hard part is still having good ideas, making the right decisions, and knowing when something feels right. That is only getting more valuable. The people who win won't be the ones writing the most code. They'll be the ones with the best ideas who know how to turn them into reality with AI. Live: Code:show more
