The AI based surveillance mechanism set up by TN... Forest Dept has started recording elephant movements on Railway tracks in pilot project mode in Madhukkarai at Coimbatore. The surveillance system has 12 towers fitted with both thermal and normal cameras, installed at strategic locations along the railway track for early detection of animal movement. The sensed data is automatically transferred to the control room set up on the site that processes the data collected from the field on real time basis and alerts loco pilots through calls and SMS. This area has seen several tragic elephant deaths due to collision with trains on these tracks. We are trying our best to prevent these collissions through use of modern technology which can be a big boon in preventing elephant deaths in such areas. From despair to hope and from struggle to triumph,... this is the incredible story of a wild elephant mother's fight for survival backed by a dedicated and professional team of foresters and vets from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu Forest Department .The mother elephant was found sick and lying on ground with her 3 months old baby roaming around her in confusion and distress.The team consulted experts and vets and successfully lifted her with the help of a crane. She was kept supported by the crane for three days while being treated by Vets. Her baby joined the herd and other siblings roaming in the nearby forests visiting the mother in the night. Thanks to the treatment,she gained enough strength and was released to freedom in the wild today. We are monitoring her to keep an eye on her well being. A big shout out to the Coimbatore Forest Division... team,Tamil Nadu which worked 24*7 to revive a sick wild Female elephant found lying in lateral recumbency position unable to get up. It was heartbreaking to see her 3 months old baby roaming around her in distress. The team has lifted the elephant with a crane to make her stand and provided all necessary treatment. Mother elephant is doing well and her baby is happily feeding. Though the elephant is doing well,we need to watch out for her health. The year ends on a heartwarming note for us... at TN Forest Department, as our Foresters united a lost baby elephant with her mother and the herd after rescue in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve at Pollachi. The little calf was found searching for the mother when field teams spotted her. With the help of drones & experienced forest watchers the herd was located and the tiny calf was safely reunited. Teams are still on ground for monitoring. Can you guess which of these is a wild... elephant? Olsekki, one of our ex-orphans at our Ithumba Reintegration Unit, has been spending a lot of time with a wild bull. They have been browsing side by side this week, walking the same routes through Tsavo. Our Keepers can tell the difference, but to anyone else, we suspect it's impossible to tell who grew up in the wild and who was rescued from the Maasai Mara in 2014. After more than a decade in our care, lots of sleepless nights, fingers suckled on and many many bottles of milk, Olsekki has been accepted into the wild herds around him. SAVE DWARKA (DELHI) FOREST : 120-acre LAND HOME TO... SEVERAL SPECIES IS ENDANGERED. NEED TO ADOPT SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT APPROACH | The DWARKA FOREST of DELHI is home to several species of both flora and fauna. Wildlife includes 65 bird species, 50 antelope (Nilgai) and many other animals flourish in the forest. This forest is close to the SAHIBI RIVER. Although it is a newly developed forest (circa 2008 onwards), it falls in the migratory route of birds visiting the Great Najafgarh Lake. The 120-acre land was acquired by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in the 1960s and then by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) around 2008. In 2021, RLDA launched its Bijwasan Railway Redevelopment Project. During the above project, RLDA contractors instead of cutting or planting trees, buried them alive in the soil. They had no valid permission to do so until 2024. The forest department had imposed a fine of Rs 5.93 crore on RLDA for illegal felling of 990 trees in the area in 2022. Cutting trees in the city requires permission from the forest department under the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act, 1994. However, if an area is a protected forest or deemed forest, permission is also required under the Forest Conservation Act, 2023. After the fine was imposed and paid by RLDA in 2022, RLDA again started cutting trees and burying them alive. In February 2024, the National Green Tribunal found that the land on which the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is constructing the Bijwasan Rail Terminal station in Dwarka is not a protected forest or deemed forest area. The tribunal has disposed of the plea which said the terminal was being built on "Protected" forest land. This allowed the project to proceed. The tribunal also observed that the Forest Conservation Act, 2023, which was recently amended, no longer covers deemed forests. Unique footage has emerged showing remote control of interceptor... drones. The 190th Training Center of the SBS reportedly used a drone-interceptor to shoot down a Shahed UAV remotely, with the pilot located at a significant distance from the launch site. The system used was LITAVR, developed by FDrones. According to the company, an operator can control the interceptor from hundreds of kilometers away from the launch point. The F7 LITAVR is already a well-known and highly effective system. As a reminder, here are the technical details (this is all open-source information): Development of the system began in autumn 2024. It was successfully tested and officially adopted in summer 2025. Serial production and deliveries to the military started in autumn 2025. Maximum speed: 350 km/h Flight time: up to 15 minutes Equipped with two cameras: daytime and thermal imaging The officially stated tactical range is 36 km, though in practice it can reach up to 60 km and operate at altitudes of up to 9.5 km. The warhead (separately codified) weighs 500 g. Detonation can occur via kinetic impact, self-destruction upon contact with the target, or manual activation by the operator. The system uses inertial guidance without GPS and features automatic terminal guidance (“last mile” / target lock system). At present, it reportedly destroys hundreds of targets per week, including Shaheds, Gerberas, Molniyas, Orlans, Lancets, and others. What is fundamentally new? Until now, mobile air defense fire groups and frontline crews using interceptor drones required a qualified pilot on-site.
