Earlier today, in his radio interview, Vrabel shared that he was irked with over-officiating at the line of scrimmage. “If our guys are going to look over; I get that we have to be legal. But for as long as I can remember in this league, the refs are going to try to officiate proactively and work with the players. “If it’s a hold, call a hold. If it’s defensive pass interference, call defensive pass interference. But at the line of scrimmage, if players are going to try to get the formation correct … we’re not going to tell them that they are either on the line of scrimmage or they have them off? They’re just going to sit there and tap their knee? “I don’t know what that is. That’s frustrating that we are that literal as an officiating department — if that is indeed what they are telling them. … “I didn’t know when we were going to start officiating the line of scrimmage and not communicate with our players. Because in the end, the relationship the players have with officials, I think can be really positive and they can explain the mechanics they’re looking for.”show more

The lighting may signify this kind of earthly shakeup, or nothing at all. Hills I will die on as someone who has... coached high school football for over 29 years: 1. If you are not PASSIONATE about blessing, serving, and empowering those you are blessed to coach, this profession is not for you. 2. As much as we need to know our trade, getting to know (and to love), our players is far more important. 3. This is an INTENSE game, and it’ll never be “just a game”, but it IS a game. Remember that when you’re with your team, and more importantly, remember that when you’re with your family. 4. Just as we teach our athletes to “leave things better than they found them”, we need to leave our athletes better than they were when they first entered into our program. Never let a day pass without pouring into each and every individual. 5. Life is complicated enough, let’s not complicate the game in such a way that we take the joy of it away from others. In other words… Keep it simple. 6. Our words carry little (or NO), value, if we don’t practice what we preach. WE as coaches should be learning and growing each and every day, just as we expect our athletes to. 7. As much as we all want to win those championship rings for our athletes, make sure you don’t lose your wedding ring in the process. 8. The athlete that may be “difficult to reach/teach” (the one who may get on your last nerve more than you could ever imagine), is someone’s EVERYTHING. Get to know them as human beings, find out what motivates them, and do everything you can to help them to thrive. 9. Be where your feet are. Don’t fall into the trap of chasing logos and thinking that a higher division, a bigger school, or going from HS to college, or even college to the pros, is going to be more rewarding or fulfilling. 10. Meet Jacksonville’s newest police officers. These 17 men and... women graduated from our Academy yesterday, and they’re ready to start serving our community on the street. They’ll spend the next 3 months working alongside our Field Training officers responding to calls for service. Police Class 07-25 took the motto “We are still here.” To them, it meant sticking by one another during every test and training the Academy threw their way. WOW! This is the view from the The George... Washington bridge running from Manhattan, New York to New Jersey. - This is all stemming from Central Canada, where wildfires are burning in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. - In total there are 211 reported wildfires burning in these two provinces, with 145 of them considered "out of control". - These fires started because of unseasonable hot and dry conditions, and have already forced 10,000 residents to evacuate their homes in Quebec. I think what this shows us is how fragile and interconnected the entire world really is environmentally. An event that takes place in another country can have major impacts and implications on our own. We are all in this thing together. Let's get along and work together to figure things out.
