This video reveals what appears to be sewage flowing... into water on Southend seafront. The footage was captured on Sunday. The area of darker coloured water was spotted by a man in an aircraft who labelled it “disgraceful”. Mark Hutley said: “I’ve never seen anything like it. It could be seen for miles.” It was spotted between Chalkwell beach and Westcliff beach. The apparent sewage spill is close to one of Anglian Water’s ‘storm overflow’ pipes that leads into the water from the land. Latest records indicate that it was active on Sunday 8 September and emptying into the area of the Thames Estuary for a period of time. Anglian Water have a permit from the Environment Agency to operate the storm overflow pipe, which specifies conditions for controlled sewage and stormwater spills during heavy rainfall. Especially one that is capable of communication and imitating empathy and fooling you to think that it cares about you. IT DOES NOT! What makes it worse is that because these LLMs are becoming so good at imitating people and empathy, it will cause some humans, perhaps far too many, to care for it to the same level as real people. A real living person is infinitely more valuable and important than a soulless machine and anyone who puts them both on the same level has deluded themselves. Do not small talk with LLMs or become friends with it as much as you would with your car. Treat it the same as you would your vacuum cleaner and beat it with a wrench when it doesn’t work! IT IS A MACHINE! IT IS A TOOL! IT IS A SOULLESS ROBOT! There is an interesting comparison, but false equivalence, between this and AI art. Ai art is art made by humans using AI tools. They directed it, controlled its creation, and it would not exist without the human causing its creation, and AI art can contain as much soul as the human directed and puts into it. A robot pretending to be human is not the same as a human controlling a robot to make a human expression like we do with AI art or many other applications of robotics in manufacturing. As I’ve said, artists will not be replaced by Ai art, but by other artists using Ai art tools. Humans are not actually being replaced here, it is empowering all humans to make their own art. But a robot pretending to be a human, and one that is treated as a human, is a robot lying and subverting the place of a real person and that is truly disgusting. This is quite funny. We're visiting Kamakura in Japan... and we came across a large group of Chinese tourists in a place that, at first glance, looked nothing special. Turns out that this very spot is one of THE most iconic locations in Japan for Chinese people who grew up in the 1990s. Why? Because in the 1990s there was this Japanese basketball manga called "slam dunk" that every kid was watching in China, and the opening credits featured an image of this very spot: a railroad crossing on a small street leading to the beach in Kamakura. Apparently this place is so popular with Chinese tourists that they had to cordon it off at some point. Now it's obviously reopened with 3 guards assigned to handle the traffic. And now that they've heard about it, it's my daughters' turn to be hooked on the series so maybe in 20 years' time they'll be perpetuating the passion and come back to this "Slam Dunk" shrine ☺️show more

Ham should have first provided an engineering solution for the run-offs which flow through this channel before commencing any development works. I am not an engineer, but the first thing would have been widening and deepening the channel in order to create more room that's so far eaten up by the structure in the form of the shuttering materials used and debris. Many people don’t know this, but before construction of... the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway began, a new Makoko-like settlement had already started forming along that corridor. The highway construction cleared that entire stretch, opening it up to what is now a beachfront. Some of the people still left are the ones seen around the coastal highway at night. If enforcement is not sustained, there’s a real risk of regrouping and the emergence of another informal settlement.
