We (Claude and I) made a new package: voxmlx... It's an MLX implementation of Mistral's Voxtral mini realtime speech recognition model. It supports streaming audio and runs pretty fast on a laptop. This weekend I found myself completely lost in vibecoding... what I've always wanted to build: A Diablo-like, 2.5D isometric fantasy dungeon crawler (I am not known for my originality) I used Cursor as the IDE and alternated between Grok and Claude Sonnet to build out the code and debug whenever either got stuck. I have zero coding knowledge and this was candidly quite daunting before I started, but when I did start I found the hours whizzing past. I also found myself really enjoying the experience, which is nice. It felt like finding a new hobby. I highly recommend people give this a whirl. My project has 39,205 lines of code, and Cursor... can't answer questions about it. Cursor's context seems to be capped at around 10,000 tokens. Unfortunately, this is not enough for any decent-sized project. If you have a large codebase, check out Augment Code. This thing is faaaast! I'm currently using their Visual Studio Code plugin, but you can also use them on JetBrains, Neovim, and even Vim. (I'm a Neovim fan, but Copilot's implementation for Neovim is nowhere as good as Augment Code.) Augment Code was gracious enough to sponsor this post. After you install their extension and run it for the first time, it will index your entire codebase. This is why it can answer questions as fast as it does, regardless of the size of your codebase. Augment Code supports chat and completions like every other AI coding assistant, but its killer feature is "Next Edit." When you make a change, two things happen: 1. I've been pondering something... My end goal with my... city simulator is to publish it on Steam. I was planning on using Three.js for prototyping and then porting this over to Unity to take advantage of ECS/Burst. But then I realized I could probably port all of the simulation code from TypeScript to Rust if I wanted to make it ultra-fast. And then I can continue to use Three.js for the renderer and then embed it into an Electron app. Is that a dumb idea? What pitfalls are there with this approach?
