This is why needs either more width or less... penalizing rough. Rose hits a high cut that lands on the right half of the fairway and bounds to left rough. It’s a crapshoot on hitting fairways, reducing skill. Furthermore, the ball goes into rough without real recovery options.show more

I believe the mistake most golfers make is that... they try to hit a straight ball. Hogan said hitting it straight was a “fluke”. If you aim up the right side and draw it or vice versa, then you make the fairway as big as possible. If you aim up the middle, you then you cut the fairway in half. This means a shot that draws too much ends up in the rough on the left and a ball that fades too much ends up in the right rough. The game is tough enough, so try to give yourself as much advantage as possible. GP #PXGTroopsshow more

This is an oldie but ever so applicable with... summer coming to a close in the northern hemisphere. That rough around the greens is healthy and happy. Try this if you are less than 2 feet into the rough. It’s a great escape shot to have in your arsenal! Ball behind trail foot / Putter delofted to project the ball INTO the turf / You’ll typically hit this shot softer than you might anticipate / Ball will pop up and over the rough before landing in the fringe and trickling up to the hole. Give it a go!show more

Every golfer in the world has 2 choices when... he hits a golf ball… Choice 1….Address the ball in a manner that puts your right arm in a closed pack position of your humeroulnar joint Choice 2….Address the ball in a manner that puts your left arm in the closed pack position… Choice 1 forces you to supinate your right forearm on your takeaway and pronate your left forearm on your downswing… Choice 2 forces you to pronate your left forearm on your takeway and supinate your left forearm on your downswing… The arthrokinematics of your shoulder joint could care less about your swing thoughts, training tools, or tempo. Ryan Fox goes with choice 1 resulting in a left shoulder that adducts/flexes/externally rotates as he goes from zero to contact…. He achieves this using the muscles of motor tract 5 on his left side and motor tract 1 on his right side.show more

I have learnt to understand that golf is about... minimizing your misses. On the tee, I aim up the right and I do everything to hit a draw. It gives me confidence knowing that I then have the entirety of the fairway to play with. If I hit a small draw, I end up on the right side of the fairway. If I hit a big draw, I end up on the left side of the fairway. If you aim up the middle, you double your room for error. Lesson is to learn the way you shape the ball and then make it work for you. #PXGTroopsshow more

If order to hit a big league fastball your... brain needs to decide to pull the trigger roughly 25 feet from the ball reaching the plate…. In order to do that, your eyes must be oriented at a spot 25 feet to your left for a righty or 25 feet to your right if you are a lefty…. This begs the question what is the point of hitting off of a tee?…The body will never work the same vs a live ball…. Look how different Mike Trout looks when hitting off of a tee vs hitting a live ball…Watch his left arm and left shoulder do completely different things. The right forearm supinates vs an overhand pitch but it pronates vs the tee…. It’s a function of where the biceps inserts onto the radius. There isn’t a hitter on earth that will use the same swing mechanics off of a tee as they will vs an overhand pitch.show more

Using Medball Throws to Prepare the Athlete for Hitting... & Throwing Medball drills are great for power development. They’re also an outstanding way to prepare the athlete for violent rotations via hitting and throwing. For us, medball volume is high at this time of the year as most guys are taking a break from intensive hitting and throwing. By keeping our medball volume high we’re able to train power, without the increased stress of swinging a bat or throwing a ball (much more CNS stress). This also makes it easier for guys once they pick up a ball or bat and start their skill work.show more
