This Jain mandir has created huge trouble on the... one-way road, all the cars are coming from the wrong side, and there is no traffic management. The Mumbai traffic police are also of no help my car was stuck for like 20 minutes in this rain just to move ahead. BEST Bus was behind me luckily I somehow squeezed inside and may be must be little 12” gap maximum to move ahead and in front of me there were almost 3-4 cars back to back coming from the wrong side. This is unacceptable If you have a festival hire a valet company! Every year it’s the same! I dunno what the Mumbai traffic police are doing? McKale is an amazing place. The biggest notable difference... was in timeouts. The Phog was loud for 3 hours straight. Even when they went to break it was loud, whether giving a screaming ovation to a former player they recognized on the jumbotron or the student section losing its mind, there was never any reprieve. It was constant. My ears were ringing for a solid 2-3 hours afterward and I got a migraine😂. Tommy could’ve timed this better for sure.show more

This woman was going out and decided to pull... into a dark road on the side of the highway that doesn’t get much traffic. She pulls her car over and gets sets up a camera and gets out so that she could do a “fit check” to make sure her outfit looks nice. There was a man who was walking away from her, as soon as she turned her back, he turned around and started walking towards her. She should have been more aware of what was happening around her. I think the man was hoping she would stick around longer, that’s why he turned back around. Wouldn’t you pick a more busy place to do something like this instead of a remote road away from traffic. In college sometimes I was working some odd jobs to make ends meet so I didn’t have to take out a loan. That meant sometimes I was walking back to the apartment at night, most of the time it was busy and there were people still walking around in the middle of the night, getting food or trying to make it home. It was a colder night than usual, the fall goat was warning me that winter was coming. Colder nights meant less people out and about. On the way home I was going to swing by the corner store to grab something to eat so I wouldn’t have to cook. As I was walking out I saw that there were a group of people at the corner, just hanging out and having a smoke, it was dark and I couldn’t see how many there was. I turned around and went back into the store. I let the clerk know and he looked out to see what was going on and he saw them too. He said to be careful because sometimes gang members like to hang out by that corner. I couldn’t call the police because they technically weren’t doing anything but I wasn’t about to find out either. I ended up waiting until they left about 15 minutes later.c then I proceeded to walk home, but not without looking behind me to make sure I wasn’t being followed.show more

Just wrapping up my 3rd annual 1:1 trip with... my kid, what an incredible year. Tokyo and Shanghai. He planned the whole trip end to end himself, including the wrench he threw in ~4 hours out that we were going to go with completely empty suitcases, so we flew into Tokyo with just the clothes on our backs. Tokyo was amazing as always and we had no real agenda, we wandered around, bought clothes for the trip, ate Tsukemen every day, walked like 10km+/day, spent an evening at a Japanese version of a pc bang, and generally just enjoyed the city. Shanghai was totally different, his entire trip was centred around wanting to go see The International (TI15). We had camped out at midnight and tried to scoop tickets and they sold out in like 0.1s, and there was 0 reselling allowed. We tried literally everything we could to get them, emailed teams, coaches, announcers, everything and just like no luck for 2 months leading up to the trip. Two people responded SirActionSlacks and Will, and man were they amazing. Both went way out of their way to make the event incredible and to make a 12 year old loves dota have the time of his life. We met up with his friend who was also in Shanghai and just spent 4 days watching dota 15 hours a day in the arena lol. The event was insane, production quality A+, and it was one of the most insane TI finals of all time. Luckily we got to sneak in some time around Shanghai and wandered into some awesome dumpling shops, but ultimately the trip was amazing and he says the best he’s ever had of the 3. By far the best thing I do every year, and would highly recommend to any parent who has the opportunity.show more

We got a call to pick up this precious... baby from a location in Oyo State, the client clearly stated the car was in a pretty bad condition and that he wanted to refurbish the car for his Dad. Arrangements were made for pick up and shortly after the driver passed Ibadan, the engine was overheating, and there were oil droplets on the road from the engine, he waited for a while and allowed the engine to cool off and topped up the water in the radiator, he had not driven for 10 minutes before the engine overheated again, I contacted our client and I told him the best option was to tow the car because there was no way that car would get to Inside Òṣogbo , he said we should go ahead and he was going to cover the cost. The car arrived our workshop Doromecho Automobile Solutions Ltd. Inside Òṣogbo safely. We informed our client and gave him the update, it was indeed going to be a total and complete Overhaul and refurbishment but of course, we were up to it.show more

Another great example of everyday Chinese efficiency we just... experienced. We got the RV stuck (again, see quoted post below 👇) but this time it's completely not our fault: at the end of a one-way road a height restriction barrier had collapsed. It was meant to block trucks over 3m in height but, due to it collapsing, it was standing at maybe 2m50 and our RV is 2m80 so 🤷‍♂️ And since it was a one way road we couldn't turn around and drive against traffic: forbidden and too dangerous. So we called the police. They arrived in exactly 3 minutes which they told us is actually their official KPI for time to intervention. I repeat: the official KPI for the police here in China is that when someone calls, they need to be on-site within a maximum of 3 minutes 🤯 They did two things: first, they immediately called the local village chief, which in the Chinese system is the person accountable to get the height restriction barrier fixed. The guy arrived in less than 2 minutes! Second, they escorted us to drive back on our one-way road, so we could pass by the bike lane on the side which was large enough for our RV and wasn't affected by the barrier (see 3rd video). To summarize: in the space of a mere 5 minutes after calling them, the police had arrived, the guy in charge of fixing the barrier was on-site, and we were safely escorted back on the road. Problem identified, accountability assigned, solution executed. Five minutes.show more

🚨🚨2-ALARM FIRE Tucson Fire was dispatched to a call... of fire nature unknown at 3:37 this afternoon in the 3100 block of East 22nd Street. Engine 3 arrived six minutes later and reported smoke coming from the back door on and eaves of an abandoned AM/PM. A full alarm was called, and crews started to search for the source of the fire. As seen in this video, there was a significant fire event. The roof collapsed, and operations shifted to a defensive mode. At this time, crews are unable to enter the building to extinguish remaining hot spots, and excavators will be used to tear it down. Firefighters were on the roof when it collapsed, but they were uninjured, as was the individual seen in the video. This video highlights the dangers our crews face every time they battle a fire, and we are thankful that everyone is safe. The fire was caused by homeless activity.show more

After Tangbula we started heading home. We’d planned to... take the Duku Highway — one of the most beautiful roads in China, and our most direct route back — but it was closed because of rain. That pushed us through Kuitun, where we only stopped because it was on the way. We ended up liking the town so much we stayed three nights. The street food market was great, there was a water park the kids loved, and a massive underground mall with tunnels stretching as far as you could see, branching off in every direction. It was bizarre. I’ve never seen anything like it. The whole city felt alive. I also met a few locals who had studied in Canada or the US and come back home to open businesses.show more

When I was a kid, my cousins used to... come to Kolkata from different states, and the Metro train was one of the main attractions. We used to travel from Dum Dum to Tollygunge just to see the Metro. Another attraction was Vidyasagar Setu. We would go all the way from North Kolkata to Kona just to see it. There was a time when Kolkata was ahead of every other state. Now look at the Missing Link of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway. They have built an 8 lane road through tunnels across valleys. An 8.9 km long tunnel and a 4.4 km long bridge. Can you even imagine the TMC government pulling off something like that? They are not able to control traffic for 7 days for the Chingrighata Metro work. My suggestion for the IIT signal traffic congestion was... implemented yesterday at 11am 🙏🏽 Thanks to Commissioner Mr.Amalraj IPS, Addl. Commissioner Ms.Shamoondeswari IPS, DC Ms.Megalina Iden IPS and AC Mr.Christopher. As the videos show, traffic moved quite smoothly through the day and evening. Shot at 11am and 7.30pm. There was a couple of hours of congestion around 5pm. But overall we have saved citizens of Chennai over 50 lakhs in fuel ⛽️ and thousands of man hours just in one day yesterday.👍 Both lanes are open for the Raj Bhavan to Madhya Kailash traffic on the flyover. Vehicles from Kotturpuram to OMR are the biggest beneficiaries with no stopping at all. Vehicles from Madhya Kailash to Raj Bhavan and Kotturpuram still move slowly due to the narrow passage way in front of Cancer hospital. Once that widening is done it will be smoother 👍 There will be teething problems but overall has improved flow of traffic 🙏 Hope they give it time to settle in.show more

The other evening, I was just walking around campus,... enjoying the outdoors when I noticed the stadium lights were on. Thought it was odd so I went to investigate I walk up to the North entrance and over the speakers, they are playing the "Rudy" theme song. I stood, looking down the tunnel while the music played with the National Championship banners hanging above, and I tell you it was one of the most incredible moments I've ever experienced on campus.
