Fable 5 built this real-time ocean scene directly in... the browser using Three.js, WebGPU and TSL, with no engine and no baked assets. The interesting part is not just that the water looks good. The whole system is being simulated: wave spectrum, GPU FFT, foam generation and refracted-ray caustics, all running live. This is exactly where frontier models start becoming genuinely useful for technical graphics work. Maybe you shouldn’t 🤷‍♂️ A coach’s post coming from Austin Roark 🚀⠀⁠ -⠀⁠ One question I get from a lot of athletes is whether they should change their lower half because their knee is over their toe during their loading phase down the mound. ⠀⁠ -⠀⁠ The biggest thing that I look for when trying to figure out if it is an issue or not is to see how they are able to get out of that position. Some guys are able to leverage and rotate from that position extremely well, which then I would say that it’s not an issue.⠀⁠ -⠀⁠ On the other hand, there are some guys who will get out of this position by driving extension out of their back leg, killing their ability to rotate their pelvis and get it in an open position into landing.⠀⁠ -⠀⁠ This is when I would suggest trying to make a change. I think a lot of people jump into certain ideologies that you shouldn’t do certain things because it’s “inefficient” or it looks “wrong”. ⠀⁠ -⠀⁠ Take a look at these pitchers shown in the video. All 3 of these high level arms have some degree of knee flexion over their toe. Now, granted, they all have insane levers to help them, but the way they are moving is what makes them efficient in how they throw. ⠀⁠ -⠀⁠ I think if you told Dustin May that he had to hold a vertical shin down the mound, it would be a disaster and mess a lot of things up upstream that would impact him in a negative way.⠀⁠ -⠀⁠ The big takeaway here is that there are no absolutes. The fun part of experimenting with brushes is that... you have to figure out how the ink behaves first. How it spreads. How it flows. Only after that do you start thinking about texture. And honestly both parts are hard in their own way. What I tried today was adding something like a magnetic force into the ink. So while drawing, these unexpected textures start to show up.Most of the strength and density come from layering 2D Perlin noise. It’s actually really fun to play with. A lot of time goes into things no one ever notices. That’s just life :)show more

Making a camera was way harder than I thought.... Here's what I learned: If you want smart phone level camera, you can't just buy a smartphone camera component That's because cameras talk to a special chip (ISP) that does all kinds of magic There's special image software too, and you can't do it yourself, so it's gonna cost you $100-250k for that software that does tuning, HDR, MFNR, etc. Takes months to implement properly Then it's even worse if you want to livestream. Since you can't do the processing after the fact, you've gotta make all that special software run realtime on a resource constrained processor You also gotta realize our hands and heads aren't stable at all. The video is shaky until you do electronic image stabilization (EIS) If you don't do every single one of these right, then you'll have potato-quality video After all this work, we've now got something really good, and I'm amped to ship Mentra Live smart glasses because it's a smart phone quality camera that sees what you see, live streams anywhere, and has an open-source SDK you can build apps with.show more

YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW BLENDER TO MAKE THIS... ANYMORE. GPT-5.6 drives it through MCP. you just describe the shot. a chrome figure carving a wave off an accretion disk. filaments of plasma raking across the frame. a car catching the same light on its way into the vortex. this is a viewport, not a render farm. the model never touched a menu. MCP hands it a socket into Blender, it writes python against bpy, it builds the emission shader, places the volumetrics, sets the camera roll. the hard part was never the picture. it was the ten thousand hotkeys standing between you and the picture. that toll booth just closed. it still can't see what it made unless you show it. you screenshot, you say the plasma's washing out the left third, it fixes, you screenshot again. the skill stopped being the software. the skill is now knowing what a good frame looks like and being able to say it out loud.show more

✨ I can now generate 3d assets for my... drone sim at directly from Cursor (sponsor of #vibejam) I need buildings that you'd see in a war torn city, like warehouses in ruins, broken down abandoned houses, bombed out bridges etc. Nano Banana Pro or 2 can generate them really well and then you can put them in an image-to-3d model and you get a GLB or FBX That one you can then import into your Three.js game, the models might be big though, in my case like 16MB, so I ask it to compress it and make it more low poly so it loads fast ThreeJS then loads the individual GLBs on page load and puts them in my drone sim somewhere randomly, I think I should remove some of the grass and match the sandy color of the ruins though to make it fit in moreshow more

yassss okay, Paper has a new homepage and guess... what? it was entirely designed with early versions of our brand new desktop app and then built via MCP in code I'm actually scarily amazed 🥲 a project that a year ago would have taken me 4-6 weeks -maybe more- and a lot of pain was delivered in just 14 days, from wireframes to prod... agents are here babe I was also in charge of copy, illustrations, animations, and stress-testing an MCP workflow we're still figuring out ourselves but here's the thing, I wanted to prove to myself that you can't achieve a look and feel like this only by prompting lazy stuff into a chat box - there's still a lot to polish, but I can't imagine building this without a space to actually think and compose the canvas was KEY to validate ideas, clean up noise, iterate copy, and figure out a lot of things that take part in such a project so if you think you can vibecode something like this, good luck, see you -and your agents- later in a serious design tool :)show more

My project has 39,205 lines of code, and Cursor... can't answer questions about it. Cursor's context seems to be capped at around 10,000 tokens. Unfortunately, this is not enough for any decent-sized project. If you have a large codebase, check out Augment Code. This thing is faaaast! I'm currently using their Visual Studio Code plugin, but you can also use them on JetBrains, Neovim, and even Vim. (I'm a Neovim fan, but Copilot's implementation for Neovim is nowhere as good as Augment Code.) Augment Code was gracious enough to sponsor this post. If you were sharing this video from the US... Capitol building on January 6 and claiming that police “escorted tourists into the building,” then you are either being dishonest, or you didn’t see what was actually happening outside the building. 1) It is almost certain that these police officers are trying to get these people out of the building not into the building. When there’s thousands of people trying to get into one location and they’ve already busted into the building, you have to escort these people through the building to get them out. 2) There were 2500 people illegally in the Capitol. There was a small fraction the number of police. What did you expect these officers to do? Try to arrest them all or try to control the situation and make sure things didn’t get out of control? Picking and choosing 30 second clips out of 44000 hours of video, including video of people busting windows, breaking glass, unlocking doors, and attacking police is disingenuous and ignorant.show more

A friend of mine just recently got his first... gun, a striker fired Glock 19. He is terrified to leave a round chambered. To anyone reading this who has this same fear, I want to alleviate your concerns. I'm going to explain why there is nothing to be afraid of. First and foremost, I fully understand your concern. It's not irrational. And you're not stupid for being nervous about a bullet being aimed at your leg with the striker cocked back under spring tension about an 1/8 of an inch from the primer. I get it. I shared this concern when I was new to carrying. But your fear is due to a lack of understanding of the internal safety features of a modern striker fired handgun. On a properly maintained modern striker fired pistol the striker CANNOT hit the primer on the chambered round without the trigger being pulled. Can't. Not shouldn't. Can't. (If you have any good Sig P320 jokes, this is the proper place to share them) There is a block that the striker will hit and stop if it is released without the trigger being depressed. It works just like a lock and key. There is a channel in the blocker that the striker can pass through if it is in the fire position. It only goes into the fire position if the trigger is pulled which pushes the blocker into the fire position. A spring keeps the blocker firmly in the block position until then. The blocker is a solid piece of steel that won't break. And if your gun is securely in a hard sided Kydex holster nothing can move the trigger unless it is unholstered. Many guns like Glocks have a trigger safety that prevents the trigger from moving due to force of dropping. Your finger has to be on the trigger safety to move it. So the gun cannot fire unless you pull the trigger. And it's easy for you to test this safety feature to see how it works! See the video below. You can try to push the striker forward by moving that piece at the back of the slide forward. That piece is the back of the striker. Push it forward and it will stop. The tip won't come out through the breach. You see it trying to come through but it gets stuck. Now push that little button in. That is the actual blocker. When you push it in you will now be able to move the striker forward through the breach and see how it will strike the primer. You can test this easily every time you disassemble your pistol to verify it is still working. You can break this safety feature by removing the blocker or losing the spring. But if it's there it will work. (You would be the first person in firearms history who has ever lost a spring. Literally the first one. It has never happened before. 😐) But it doesn't come out as part of regular maintenance. You have to disassemble the firing assembly to get it out. That won't happen by accident. And if you do that on purpose you should do this blocker test when you reassemble it to make sure the safety feature is working. My video shows a Glock slide. All Glocks will look like this. Other brands may put the blocker in a different spot or it may be a slightly different shape. But they all (mostly) have the same design. If you test yours as demonstrated and it works like mine does, your gun WILL NOT fire without pulling the trigger. (If you just thought of another P320 joke, this is another good place to toss that out there)show more
