I had a substantive discussion with the Prime Minister... of Slovakia Robert Fico 🇸🇰. We covered key topics — matters of principle for Ukraine and matters of principle for Slovakia. I informed about our conversation yesterday with President Trump, our work with leaders of the Coalition of the Willing to advance peace and ensure Ukraine’s security, and the security architecture for Europe. And Slovakia will not stand aside. The Prime Minister told me about his contacts in China. A separate and important topic was Europe’s energy independence — Russian oil, just as Russian gas, has no future. Slovakia supports Ukraine on its path toward the European Union. This is highly significant. We also share the view that Ukraine and Moldova must continue moving together toward EU membership. Equally important is that bilateral cooperation on economic, energy, and infrastructure matters here, in our region, strengthens our peoples and our countries. Thank you for the meeting. During a meeting with Prime Minister of Finland Petteri... Orpo, I thanked him for Finland’s recent decision to allocate an additional $300 million in defense support for Ukraine. We sincerely appreciate this, and we discussed priority areas of our defense – particularly air defense – that can be strengthened with this package. I proposed to the Prime Minister that we strengthen our bilateral partnership by signing an agreement in the format of the Drone Deal. Ukraine is ready to share its expertise and strengthen those who have been strengthening us since the very beginning of the full-scale invasion. We also touched on international cooperation, particularly our European integration. There is now a good window of opportunity to open the negotiating clusters, and Ukraine fully deserves this. I have seen and truly appreciate the messages and... concerns regarding our Annual Christmas Day Gala. After engaging and consulting with our stakeholders, we have this year taken a conscious decision to redirect our funds and resources towards repairing school roofs that were damaged by winds. As things stand, more than six schools were affected and work is already underway. We are working against time to ensure that by the time schools open, our children return to safe and decent learning spaces. While the Christmas Day Gala is close to our hearts, we believe that responding to this urgent need is the right thing to do at this moment.
