I've uncovered a bit more about FSD V14's behavior... in the snow. FSD has an invisible & binary "Snow Mode" where it shifts in and out of a different profile upon detection of snow-covered roads. Snow Mode is either ON or OFF. It does not appear to be a gradient based on condition severity. Example: In the video below, you can see tiny bits of snow drifting across the highway surface. Before this snow appeared, FSD drove normally (at the speed limit or above). When it saw this snow, it instantly slowed to 10-15mph under the speed limit. Then, when the snow cleared, it sped back up. It did this multiple times over a 10 mile drive: >Drive Normally >Detect Snow >Enter Snow Mode >Slow Down >Snow is gone >Exit Snow Mode >Drive Normally In this particular instance driving between various conditions, Snow Mode was unnecessary for this type of snow drifting. Pressing the accelerator or increasing the speed profile does NOT override Snow Mode. Elon said last year they may need to create different versions of FSD for different regions, driving types, and weather (Deep snow vs. Manhattan, etc). Okay, attic kitten update time. I went kitten trappin’... this morning. Successfully caught all 3 at one time. Boy did they freak out! Stopped the video, and spent 2 minutes talking to them and reaching into the trap to pet them before they calmed down. I set them downstairs for a minute to interact with Skippy, their brother, and then off to the vet we went. They were very calm on the trip there and back, and at the vet too. Yes, I talked to them quite a bit along the way. The vet says I have 3 very healthy black kittens. Not even any fleas. The vet did give them a bath (did I mention they freaked out when I trapped them? Food went everywhere!). Vet says I apparently took very good care of them. Guess that is good, but it is great for the kittens!show more

I’m posting this, why? I really don’t know why.... Other than some idiot told me my leg was f***ed up, looked horrible, that I should wear long pants and should be embarrassed to wear shorts. I turned and quietly walked away. Still, it struck a nerve, it pissed me off. Years ago I took a boat propeller through that knee. I had bilateral tib/fib fractures. Had 13 fractures between the two legs. I had the whole death experience thing. It was a miracle I lived. I was not supposed to keep the leg. They were doubtful I would ever walk again. I spent 4 months in a hospital bed. Did time in a wheelchair. Spent over a year on crutches. Had a cane for a while. There were numerous surgeries. I worked my tail off trying to recover and return to normal. It took many years to get rid of the limp. I now walk without a limp. I run. I bicycle. I snow ski. And some idiot is going to have issue with how my leg looks? Well, that is just too darn bad. Go get a life. I’ll probably delete this in a day or two, but right now I am a bit pissed. Okay, and admittedly a bit bothered by it. It is amazing that it bothered as much as it did. Guess maybe deep inside I was remembering how it used to make me feel when people made fun of me back when I had a limp, and worse yet, how people (yes, strangers) would make fun of me in public when I just starting to walk and had trouble controlling my legs. When General Donahue commanded the 82nd Airborne Division, he... made it a point to do physical training with a different squad every morning. He brought them to headquarters, where a certified instructor led everyone through a demanding high-intensity workout. He did it religiously for two years. I liked the idea so much that I brought the same approach into squadron command. Every morning, a different section would join me and the Command Sergeant Major for PT. Earlier today I was ironing some clients clothe with... the gas iron when I had the sudden urge to use the toilet. I turned off the gas and went to the toilet. I went about with other things when I came out thinking the iron was off. Next thing I heard was Mummy your table is burning. I rushed down to find that the gas was still on and I had only increased the heat instead of turning it off. What amazed me was that the rubber iron mat that came with it didn't burn but everything beneath it melted. Does anyone know the kind of material they use in making the mat? Alhamdullilah, what if it happened during the week when my kids are not around? Why is it so hard to fix the power problem in this country so we don't have to resort to endangering our lives trying to solve problems that we shouldn't be having in 2026? So remember that time machine I told you about?... I managed to sneek out another video from my visit to the future.. this time I captured video of a 3d artist creating assets for a short commercial. They sculpted the bird in the video with nothing but two controllers which they used to manipulate generative matter in 3d. The AI model changed in realtime and adopted their style of work, both based on the work they did on the scene, and on reference images they gave the system. Seeing the 3d model transform in realtime as they were working on it was incredible. When it started moving and reacted to their instructions, I knew it was time to return to the present :D #art #aishow more

I still think about this most recent blizzard a... lot… Crazy 10-15 miles can make such a big difference for banding. Places with little to no elevation 36-40”+ of snow. Would’ve seen 25-35” of snow had that been the case instead of ~18 accumulation. Great storm for me. But everyone knows the difference between their all time storms and great storms. This was an all timer but not for me. I wrote down some notes right after the blizzard that I’ll explore in a blizzard analysis vid at some point in the coming weeks/months. But I wouldn’t change too much about this winter tbh. Would’ve been great to see 30”+ of snow? Sure. But outside of the widespread busts there wasn’t really one system where I was so completely left out. And it made it so there weren’t too many let downs. And also I experienced a true blizzard for ~8-10 hours straight. Very rarely get to say that so far inland.show more

#RDC24 was the best one yet.. but let's talk... about the part of RDC that nobody does. I've been doing panels / presenting for nearly 10 years. I love doing it. And every time, I am so nervous that I don't eat food for a day before. Talking to other presenters I realized this anxiety is common and I'm not alone. We were doing push-ups 30 seconds before going on stage to try and calm the nerves. So I wanted to give a huge props to every presenter & panelist who pushes through the fear and puts on a brave face so that we can help pull off an amazing conference. I don't know how JParty makes it look so effortless - because I can promise it isn't! Hi FGC friends. I picked up a Brooks Wingman... FGC 2 myself from to test some older sticks on PS5 cause of issues using them on PS5 for some games. Did a quick Firmware update through their website here: (Hold the side buttons while plugged into PC and grab the latest update) I then tested all of these myself that didn't work in game for Avatar before that are now working instantly. Hopefully a patch comes out before the event for legacy controllers but I wanted to test this as a backup option while I chat with Brook Converters directly about getting some loaners for pools at the event. So far no issues, timeouts or anything so this may be your a good option for the mean time to use all of your sticks/controllers on PS5 in general. If you're having issues please let me know what controller/stick you're trying to use and I'll see if I have it to try myself. Their shop closes at 4 but I was there at 3:57 so I asked if they're still open and they said they still open. I saw some snacks and wanted to eat it, but it will take time to prepare, right? and I was considering their closing time. So I asked which one I can still order, she said "You can order anything, we can do any menu" but I went bipolar mode, I changed my mind after few minutes. Because I have work next, I have to drive next, and it would be difficult. I said I'll then just take the drink, so I can take away. The lady said something with her staff like, "Then why did he ask?" 🫍 But at the time, she was inside, right? 🐻‍❄ Yes, and because she's familiar with my voice, she then go out to see me. Sometimes people make comments like "Those poor service dogs;... all they do is work. They never get to just be a dog and play." Comments like that are far from true. I have lots of play time, lots of nap time, and lots of time for shenanigans. Us dogs don't view work the way humans do. To us, most of our work is made up of play or games. Like push the button with a paw or nose, retrieve the item, or even odor detection which is basically true or false with your sniffer. A good portion of being service dog is simply being there. We're not working every moment of the day. It's basically a paid on call position. I'm ready anytime she needs me to lend a paw. But I still have time to play with my baby brother, watch my favorite TV shows, go for walks or to the park, have social visits, and do dog sports! What I don't have is long periods of time at home alone. There's actually Chesnyy alone time that's scheduled, like when my brother goes for walks, so that I have some me time and don't develop separation anxiety. Basically I get to go pretty much everywhere with my best friend and I get paid to play games. I think I am super lucky to have this job. But just like humans, us dogs need work life balance too. #ServiceDogs #WorkLifeBalamceshow more

I've rewritten this several times, but I can't find... any better way to say it... so here it goes. One of the things I'm scared of most, is time. Particularly, time that is wasted. There's a sundial that hangs on my wall with an inscription that says, "I have done nothing good today, I have lost a day." X has always been a place where I wanted to put out things that didn't waste anyone's time. Whatever post I put out, whatever thought, whatever story, comment,... whatever it was, was worth the time for you to read it, and for me to create it. Because I know, in my bones, that the time we have is precious and thought of wasting even a minute of yours or mine doing something worthless, is genuinely one of my greatest fears. As we were walking down this mountain together, my son looks up at me and says, "Dad... God made me VERY good at hiking." I laughed and say, "Yeah he did!" A couple minutes go by and he stops, he turns at looks at me, and goes: "Dad, God made you VERY good at work and work is very important..." That got me. I often worry that my work pulls me too far away from my kids. Even more than that... ...I know that what I do on X does cause and will cause life to be harder for my kids than if I chose to remain silent Walking off that mountain, one of my deepest fears about wasting time was answered by the very person I was afraid I might be hurting.
