It’s been a year since the company I helped... start shut down. It was one of those ideas that felt truly “net-positive” for the world, and truly helped people on a personal level. So, over this last year I worked on 2 things — searching for an idea that feels net-positive and something people could connect with on a deep, personal level. And, it’s launching today. This is Find Your Faith, an iPhone app that helps you discover a spiritual path that resonates with you, or helps you dive deeper into a faith you already practice. We started this as a way to help us with our own spiritual journeys. We wanted to explore different faiths in a way that was authentic to us. The beauty about spirituality is there is no deadline on when you should “figure out what you believe in” lol. It’s really something to check in on during the different seasons of your life. And, there isn’t just one way to do it. Some people may enjoy reading religious text, or others may prefer being in the presence of something greater than them. At the end of the day, these are just ways to give yourself the space to explore really tough questions and concepts. That’s what Find Your Faith (or fyf) does — helps you understand where you are on your journey, no matter where you may be, and gives you the space to sit in these questions every day. I know this may not be a big deal... to some but I noticed it immediately. The eye contact. One thing that was instilled in me at a young age was the importance of making eye contact when someone is speaking to you. It’s a simple habit, but it says a lot. It shows respect. It shows that you’re present and paying attention. That’s why it’s something I emphasize at every clinic I run. When I’m teaching, I expect athletes to look me in the eye. Not because I’m trying to be super strict, but because learning how to communicate, listen, and show respect will take them much further than anything I can teach them about fielding a ground ball or swinging a bat. While I don’t know Coach Murphy or Jocelyn Briski, the fact that this is something she naturally does tells me a lot about her character and the program that helps shape her. Med Ball Spikeball Variation Some rules: • Everyone has... to touch the ball 1 time before returning it to the box • If a team fails to have everyone on their team touch it or fail to return it to the box then it’s the opposite teams point. • The ball must hit the box and go up. If it hits the side/corner of the box and immediately goes down it is the other teams point. You can all adjust and make up your own rules! Can be played 2v2, 3v3, or even 4v4.
