The Hollingsworths Emma Hollingsworth Lyla Hollingsworth came down from... Massachusetts today. A big part of our lesson was learning front-side compression how the front leg and hip stabilize so the body can rotate up against it into contact. Too many hitters think forward momentum is “bad,” but it’s not. Moving forward is necessary, the key is keeping the body connected as it moves. We worked on using the rear lat and back side to pull back and stay connected to the front side. This keeps the body together instead of pushing forward. Through resistance band and towel drills, they learned the feel of: •Holding strong direction through the front side, •Allowing the pelvis to pull the rear leg through, •Creating whip of the barrel against the front side and through extension.show more

Around 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office... responded to a crash involving a Jaguar that slammed into the rear of a school bus and became wedged underneath it. Authorities said there were no students on board at the time of the collision. The bus driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Daniel Berger’s move is super unique. Really strong left... hand grip, and a backswing that he’s been retooling recently. Mainly by making it shorter, to get him out of “excessive” back extension, which was causing him pain. A drill he does that helps: “As I’m taking the club away, I lift my left foot off the ground, then I press it back into the ground...that basically helps me get rid of the last few frames of my backswing. You can call it an overswing, and that gets rid of the excessive back extension that’s really the area that we saw was most prone to injury.”show more
