Imagine you go to a store and you want... to buy candy. The shopkeeper knows you're a real kid because they can see you standing right there. Now imagine you send a robot to buy candy for you. The shopkeeper looks at the robot and thinks: wait, who sent this? Is this robot allowed to buy candy? What if someone else's robot pretends to be yours and steals your candy money? That's basically what's happening with AI right now. Companies like Visa let people buy things all over the world. But now, smart computer robots (AI agents) want to buy things too. Shop around, compare prices, even pay for stuff. Visa looked at this and said: nope, not yet. Because they have no way to check if the robot is real, who it belongs to, or if it's allowed to spend that money. The problem is that all the rules we have for checking identity - showing your ID, scanning your face, typing your password - only work for humans. Robots can't do any of that. Worse, bad robots can actually copy and fake human identities really well. So Evin McMullen evin, Billions Network co-founder and CEO, says we need a new kind of ID system. One where you can prove something is true without showing all your private stuff. Like proving you're tall enough for a ride without telling anyone your exact height. That's called zero-knowledge proof. And for the robots specifically, we need something called KYA - Know Your Agent. It's like giving every robot its own ID card that says: this is who I am, this is what I'm allowed to do, and this is the human responsible for me. Infant sleep can be such a tricky thing. Just... as soon as you get reaccustomed to resting through the night, all of a sudden your baby reverts to waking multiple times a night. Welcome to the 8 month sleep regression. Interruptions in sleep patterns often coincide with the development of new skills and somewhere around 8 months you’re due for the biggest of them all. That’s because your baby is becoming mobile - and putting all the skills together to roll, crawl, and even pull to a stand in their crib. For infants this is a HUGE breakthrough. Imagine having spent your entire life mostly stationary, with your ability to pursue your own interests - or even adjust your view - subject to the whims of a caregiver. Somewhere between 6-9 months most babies begin discovering a host of new abilities. And let’s face it, some of them are a lot more entertaining than sleep. The good news (at 3am) is that the novelty here is temporary…but there are some important ways you can help your baby to navigate this period safely. Perhaps the most important one is illustrated in this video. And that’s adjusting the height of your child’s crib mattress to its lowest level. With newborns and immobile infants, it’s often convenient to elevate their mattress so they can be placed into and retrieved from the crib more easily. But when your baby begins pulling to a stand it’s critical that you lower their mattress to prevent accidental falls. Babies are top heavy and can easily go tumbling out without such adjustments. You may also find that your baby masters pulling to a stand faster than they master sitting back down - which can create a crib dilemma and a need for assistance. You can navigate through this phase more quickly by providing lots of wakeful practice in both standing and sitting, which may involve gently guiding your little one to bend their legs at the knee - or even placing an appealing toy on the ground near their feet to incentivize sitting back down. As for the sleep regression, it’ll be over before you know it. And while it can be frustrating in the middle of the night, think of it as a breakthrough. During training, you visit many of the facilities that... will eventually play a role in your mission. Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A was one of them. This visit felt different. Standing at the base of the tower and looking up, I was reminded that this is the very place from which Neil Armstrong and his crewmates began their journey to the Moon. The facility has evolved over the decades and has been modernized for a new era of spaceflight, but it still carries the weight of its history. You can feel it. Then there is the elevator. Inside, there are only two buttons: Earth and Space. A simple design choice, perhaps, but one that feels remarkably profound when launch day finally arrives. What you see here is me at the top of the launch pad, with the Falcon 9 yet to make its way out. The rocket is transported to the pad horizontally and then raised to a vertical position before launch. Standing there, it was impossible not to imagine the events that would soon unfold. Reading with your baby isn’t always as simple as... it might seem. Earlier this week, a parent asked how I’d advise reading to a toddler who may not have the attention span for a full book and who, when handling them, often tears the pages. I’m so glad you asked! This fantastic video, shared to TT a couple years back by hanzcakess, illustrates both the realities of - and several important lessons for - parents and caregivers when it comes to reading with infants and toddlers. First, when reading with very young children it’s important to begin with realistic expectations. At this little guy’s age (which I’m going to guess is around a year, give or take 2 months) babies‘ attention spans are VERY limited. Think 1-2 minutes tops. What does that mean for you? First it means that you’re unlikely to make it through an entire book. And that’s just fine. Rest assured that there’s still great value in the activity. Further, don’t be surprised if your child is more interested in interacting with (or at the earliest stages, even chewing on) the book itself rather than attending to the story it contains. That’s ok too. For both reasons, beginning with sturdy, laminated board books is well advised. Not only do these tend to be super short (with most intended to accommodate for babies’ brief attention spans), but they’re made to withstand the rigors of handling by infants and toddlers. Now, some might look at this video and (on first glance, at least) see primarily inattention. But not me! Here’s what I see: First, I see a completely normal toddler who’s already putting some really impressive book knowledge on display. Notice he’s advancing front to back and left to right as he turns pages sequentially. They’ve done this often. Also want to shout out what a truly fantastic job Dad is doing here. Notice that he’s totally letting his son dictate the terms the activity. He’s not insistent on completing the text, but goes with the flow as his son turns the pages. As the pages turn he’s helping to illustrate that the print on each one contains a unique message. And he’s singing the text! Brown Bear is a great book for this and many board books lend themselves particularly well here. Your baby isn’t judging your singing voice. Kudos on making the experience engaging. In light of all the above, don’t be afraid to stray from the text altogether as needed and use this time to simply engage in conversation about the pictures and introduce some new vocabulary. Finally, while lap reading is fantastic, at this age you may also find benefit in reading face to face, allowing your child to tune into your expressions alongside the book. Remember, there’s nothing your baby loves seeing more than you. Rest assured this stage doesn’t last forever. You’ll be snuggling up for longer sessions in no time. I would be angry about the Virginia redistricting, but... let’s be real, the Republicans are basically Democrats and only serve to attack America Only people like Massie. That anger I could feel would just be wasted energy. Why should we even care the Democrats are redistricting? What have the Republicans done for us? Why should we protect the Republicans? Not a single penny of what DOGE found to be fraudulent or redundant was removed from the budget. They’ve squandered every single minute of this last year trying to protect Epstein clients and attacking “America Only.” Mike Johnson even shut the House down for like three months to slow the Discharge Petition that would reveal all the Epstein Files. This past year has been nothing but cowering down to Israel and the Democrats and printing even more money. They let the Hearing Protection Act and SHORT Act be “Byrd Bath’d” (declared improper through parliamentary rules and removed) out of the Trump Omnibus bill by an Obama appointed parliamentarian. Said parliamentarian still has a job by the way. Here in Virginia, we can’t even get Morgan Griffith to sign on to the Constitutional Carry bill Massie submitted. What would be different in any meaningful way if the Democrats were to be allowed to gerrymander everything to the extreme? They’re mostly useless and only occasionally will throw us a crumb. We’re not voting our way to a better government. What money is raised is wasted on frivolous lawsuits. This system is going to collapse and we’re going to have to rebuild the country when it does. 5 years in LA came to a close today.... I moved to Cali in the middle of the pandemic - fresh out of college after living with my parents trying to figure my life out. It was right before the golden bull run of 2021 - and I can confidently say that era was unlike anything I've ever seen or probably will see again. Being in LA during that time was surreal - everyone wanted to learn about crypto and I found myself in this epic intersection between tech and culture in a way I could never have imagined. When it all came back to reality I was fortunate to be able to pursue my ambitions with music to their highest extreme. I started a fund, and then a record label - both geared at bringing artists onchain and connecting the two worlds together. As time went on - I found that the crypto part wasn't as captivating as it once was and instead I needed to figure out how to make music ownership viable in the absence of NFTs, memecoins or any other gimmicks that lacked longevity or substance beyond speculation. And that's what brought me to Tokyo - an innate feeling that the music scene here can be something to build a foundation on the back of. A place to build real community and culture and bring things onchain with the right ideals and values in mind. So here's to everyone that made LA so special. Wow. WOW. WOOOOOOOW. So um, that first Wildcard+Thousands stream... was... *amazing* and also... a *lot* 😅 In the end, it was *exactly* what we were hoping for - a true stress test of ALL these systems coming together for the first time. We are SO grateful for the thousands of people who showed up today to play, attend, tune-in and help us PLAYTEST all this new stuff. We can't wait to see you all again at NEXT WEEK'S EX2 EVENT! So, now let's talk about how it went... Stuff that worked: - Our community SHOWED UP. Oh boy did you show up 😅. Our servers were straining under the load... which is good actually, in fact it's the whole point. Even more importantly, we have already received insanely valuable feedback, bug reports, stuff people loved/hated - and it's only been a few hours since the stream ended. I can't even explain to y'all how valuable this process is. Yes it's stressful, it reminds me of trying to keep Words With Friends online during that first insane year, but it's EXACTLY what we were hoping for (NEED) to turn this into the polished, top-notch game and streaming experience we are on a mission to deliver. I truly can't thank y'all enough, and hope to see you again when we run it all back again next week 🥹 - The stream itself stayed up and was mostly stable! Phew 😅. For context, ThousandsTV is not a twitch wrapper, it's a web3-native streaming tech stack built we built specifically to connect game, web/mobile, and blockchain together all at the same time. There are a LOT of moving pieces going on behind the scenes. - We brought viewers INTO THE GAME! Viewers showed up in the stands of the arena, with connected wallets/assets, triggered actions/rallies from chat, and were seen and heard during the whole stream. - The brand new 2v2 build of Wildcard was (mostly) stable and our players and viewers seemed to be having a blast down on the field and up in the stands. It was thrilling to watch Team Blue dominate, even though Team Red held their own in game 3! - Our production crew did an insanely good job running the stream, managing the players, shoutcasters, and talent, and producing a top-notch show. Of course we will work hard to make every stream better than the last, but I was super proud of how our team "rolled with the punches" during today's event. Stuff that didn't work (and/or needs to be dramatically improved): - Although it's fun to see chat going crazy, chat spam is actually something we are passionate to FIX. As you can see from the attached video, chat spam dominated today's stream and made it impossible for anyone to even see anyone else's messages. We have some GREAT ideas for how to fix this and actually turn chat spam into a FUN and exciting and not annoying thing - but those improvements didn't get shipped in time for this event. - Credits purchasing flow needs a LOT of work. As I'm sure y'all know, bringing money on chain is pretty complicated, and although we've been working hard to make this as seamless as possible, it still needs a TON of improvements. Many users who WANTED to spend money today weren't able to and/or ran into frustrating bugs in the credit purchase flow. Fixing this is obviously a top priority for our team. - Rallies need a LOT of work. Spectator-interactive features like rallies are at the heart of our vision for Wildcard. These "stream apps", as we call them, are the UNLOCK for how spectators, viewers and fans directly connect and interact with their favorite competitors, content creators, and communities. The current rally feature HINTS at this potential, but it needs to be WAY easier to understand, use, and have fun with. Improvements are ON THE WAY. - Referees were only partially working. Referees are a key innovation of the Thousands platform. They are AI-driven "personalities" (NPCs) that pay attention to everything that's happening in the arena, both on the field and especially in the stands (i.e. in chat, during rallies, etc.) The referees then make "calls" at the end of every match, rewarding users for their engagement and participation. Unfortunately, the referees weren't fully functional and seemed to drop the ball on recognizing everyone's contributions (especially people who showed up holding valuable assets such as Wildpasses in their wallets, and people who boosted those rallies with credits.) What's happening next: 1. We are combing through ALL the logs from the event right now, to make sure we don't miss a SINGLE action that our viewers and fans took during the event, including what they brought in their wallets (i.e. Wildpass holders!), any credits that were purchased, rallies that users engaged with, etc. This information is normally processed by our referees, who then determine dynamically how they're going to distribute $WC awards. We were originally hoping to complete this process and the subsequent airdrops within a few hours after the event, but given the amount of data, we need a bit more time to run these scripts (and airdrops) in batches instead of all at once, and make sure ALL of the data is being included. IMPORTANT: I will keep y'all updated in real-time here on twitter/X as this process is ongoing, and let you know the moment it's complete and all the awards have been distributed (i.e. when to go check your wallets 😎) 2. PLEASE keep sending us your feedback and bug reports. Open a ticket on our Discord and let us know what you loved, what you hated, and especially what we need to FIX. Given the overwhelming response to this event, it will likely take us several days to process everyone's feedback and fix all the bugs, but we WILL NOT REST until every ticket is closed/resolved. CONTEXT MATTERS!!! A lot has been said about Yusuf’s... diary session, particularly his comment that his previous connections were good people, but he felt they lacked “depth.” But before you judge his words, watch the clips. Here is Yusuf having a genuine conversation with the same people he spoke about in his Diary Session. He listened, engaged and shared parts of his own life, just like everyone else in the house does. And then watch the second clip. Yusuf is literally being mimicked and mocked by Bells while sitting right there. Imagine opening up about your life and your experiences, only for those same experiences to become something someone uses to ridicule you. So when Biggie asked Yusuf about his connections in the house, what exactly was he supposed to call that? Was he supposed to pretend everything was perfect? Was he supposed to describe a connection as deep when he personally didn't feel that depth? Yusuf was answering a question about HIS experience. He never said they were bad people. In fact, he specifically acknowledged that they were good people. He simply said he didn't enjoy having certain conversations with them because he felt they didn't connect with him on a deeper level. And somehow, that has been twisted into Yusuf believing he is better than everyone else. It is even more painful because Yusuf has never pretended to come from a life of privilege. When these Housemates sit down and talk about their lives, their families, their relationships, their struggles and their experiences, Yusuf is allowed to talk about his own life too. If your life has been easier, beautiful. If you have had opportunities Yusuf didn't have, beautiful. If you didn't have to struggle for certain things, you are blessed. But please don't assume that because you didn't experience something, somebody else must be lying about experiencing it. Yusuf has spoken about where he comes from because it is part of his story. He has spoken about the struggles, the sacrifices, the auditions, the doors that didn't open and the few that finally did. He even spoke about getting an audition with Ruth Kadiri in March and how that opportunity became significant in his journey. He isn't saying he suffered the most. He is saying, “This is MY story.” And nobody should have to apologise for telling their own story simply because someone else finds it uncomfortable. Yusuf came into Biggie’s House with a dream. A dream to be seen, to showcase his talent and to change his circumstances. He isn't asking for pity. He is asking for a chance. So before you judge his words, watch the context.
