After getting 3 defensive innings in the first week of play, Grant waited patiently for his 1st collegiate at batโฆ As a pinch hitter in the top of the 9th @ UC-Davis, Grant took a FB right down the middle for K one. The next pitch was another FB in the same location and he put the barrel to the ball and recorded his 1st collegiate hit to CF! ๐ฉ๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐: I was watching the box score and didnโt think he was gonna get in, so I closed my browser on my phone after the 8th inning and 15 minutes later, the Pacific starting pitchers Dad, who had been a longtime successful HS coach in the Las Vegas area, and I had scouted his players extensively and even drafted one in the 3rd Rd in 2012, text me: Yes! congrats to Grant! I knew what that potentially meant, so I hurried and turned on the TV to ESPN+ Shortly after the game, I received this text from my son ๐ โI was saying a little prayer in my head, when I was in the hole waiting to hit, to let mom put her hands on the bat. Not a thought went through my head during that AB, it was not me up there! These are the moments that dreams are made of! Atta Kid Grant ๐show more

After a botched summer assignment to a new collegiate league in Texarkana, TX that saw Grant Scholzen sleeping in his car and no host family provided as promised, Grant came home and waited patiently for a summer league call. The MGF Marshalls (who by the way is one of the best run orgs in the country, more on that in a future post!) called and in his 1st game and 2nd AB with a 1-2 count in a left on left matchup with the shadows in play, Grant took a 92 mph FB off the shoulder and into the right side of his face. The only time in 5 years w/o a face shield on his helmet, itโs the only time heโs been hit above the shoulder. Was watching the game on live stream, and it was hard to tell where it actually hit him? Grant immediately started walking to the dugout and I couldnโt figure out why he was doing that, because he should be either staying at home plate gathering his bearings or going to 1B. What you donโt see is the catcher and pitcher who are close friends of Grantโs growing up facing each other in HS and teammates throughout their CBA summer/fall travel ball experiences, looking on with what just happened? The pitcher and catcher who Iโm close with as well, are in shock and the pitcher then walks into the opposing dugout to see if Grant is okay? Grant was okay, but he wasnโt okay?! That helpless feeling again when youโre not there and your son has something almost tragic happen?! I was calling friends who I knew were at the game and they said he had ice on his cheek in the dugout. After the game Grant was going to drive 4 hours home and get home at 3am to attend his cousinโs church service to listen to him speak at his 2 year church missionary farewell. He got home late as I said and woke up yesterday with his face extremely swollen and his eye already black, so we saw his uncle at church, who is a pediatric dentist and he scheduled a CT Scan with an oral surgeon buddy. Grant went in this morning for the scan and to our surprise, NO broken bones. Thank you to the countless people who text and reached out with worry and wanting updates. The baseball circle is small, but big at the same time and is a comforter! Once again his mother Heidi was working overtime to protect her kids, just like my daughterโs car accident 3 weeks ago. Back at my momโs house I was sitting in... the living room playing video games in my my underwear, I was around 12 years old and ever body was working until about 5pm so I still had a few hours before anybody was there. I usually kept the doors locked but the front door wasnโt locked, I just didnโt know that yet. I walked into the kitchen to grab a snack and a drink. I didnโt know that a family of three people just walked into the house. I came back holding a bag of chips and a drink and I saw two people standing there and another one just sitting on the couch like they were supposed to be there. My 12 year old brain couldnโt comprehend what was happening and I ran out of the house and to the neighbors house. I finally calmed down and told her what was happening, she grabbed her husband and went over there, Iโm surprised they didnโt call the police first. The people in the house told the neighbor that they were friends of my dad and they were visiting from Pittsburgh. My neighbor called my dad at the restaurant and confirmed he knew them. He ended up leaving the restaurant and coming back early. His friends confused what days he was off from work and decided to come by and visit unannounced. He also told them it wasnโt a good idea to just walk in and that even though they were friends they should always knock on the door. I had never met these people before so I thought it was some kind of home invasion, it scared me. But from that point on I always made sure the doors were locked and that I was dressed decently just in case of unexpected visitors.show more

As for my summit dreams, they will have to... wait There are no guarantees in mountaineering - I made the call at the South Col with respect to the Everest summit, that I was not in a sufficiently fit state to make an attempt, so I did not head off for the summit push. Given the dangers involved, I could not in good conscious make an attempt on the summit and potentially put myself and my Sherpa in peril. The mountain takes a swift toll on people who fail to leave sufficient energy in reserve for the descent. I tried to remain positive and head for the Lhotse summit on 24 May 2023 - the mind was willing but my body was not on the same page unfortunately, so I made a retreat for the safety of camp 2 2/3show more

Pete Alonso was sitting at his locker in the... Orioles' clubhouse during media availability postgame, ready to address getting picked off to end the 8th inning and noting that he felt "awful." "I over-anticipated contact in the zone. For me, I kind of had a pretty big primary lead with 2 outs. There's multiple things I wanted to do. "I wanted to be able to get to 2nd if there was a ball hit to the infield, beat the throw, and then also, too, if there's a ball hit in the outfield -- either in the gap or down the line -- I would give myself the best chance to score. "So it was kind of my momentum, I was anticipating contact, but they did a -- I mean, it was a hell of a throw. It was a hell of a throw, great tag. Great play by them to take advantage of the situation. "But yeah, I definitely overcommitted too much on getting my momentum going to try and get to 2nd if there was a ball in the infield or score if there was a ball in the gap. "So yeah, it's really tough to kind of take ourselves out of the inning like that from just playing too far over my skis, so to speak. I feel awful."show more

You respect the umpires, the officials who are on field, who are controlling the game, who are officiating the game and also the situations. Mistakes can happen to anyone, but you, as a player, you be in that limit. So, I sensed the situation, what can happen next, it was my instant reaction to send him off the field. As a player, I also felt that he must have felt bad, I said, okay, if he felt bad about me, it's okay. But I think, that point in time, it was a good thing for him. At first they didnโt believe in my journey, yet still they supported me. I promised them MULTIPLE TIMES that I was going to take care of them, yet the only thing they did was laugh it off. Yet here we are. Why do I trade? To provide to my family and to the ones that supported me. To achieve all the goals that 18 year old me set out to achieve. I was lost, yet I didnโt stop because I knew that I had bigger things planned for me. Was it hard? Absolutely. Was it worth it? Absolutely. So last night at the movies, I got a... notification that my right tire pressure was low, almost flat. I feared that someone had slashed it, but after the movie was done, went outside to check. We found a nail in the tire immediately and I was so happy that I used my referral credits just last week to purchase a tire air compressor in the Tesla shop. I had credits that were going to expire and I figured while I might as well get some safety related things to put in my car since Iโm having a baby soon and immediately had a use for it!! This thing works amazingly. I just thought that the timing was so serendipitous and wanted to share. Someone on X recommended I get one for my trunk and so thank you, great product!show more

Five years ago, I became a mommy. A lot... of you know me as Logo Queen, but not many of you know me as a mom. Sometime in 2021, I gave birth to my handsome, adorable son. He is the reason I am who I am today. Heโs the reason I became Logo Queen. Heโs the reason I put so much effort into my craft and kept pushing even when life felt impossible. When I was pregnant with him, I lost all my savings. I was literally left with nothing. And I knew I didnโt want to bring a child into the world where he wouldnโt be proud of his mom. After giving birth in 2021, I went through postpartum depression and many difficult moments. But in that process, I decided to pick up a tech skill. I tried learning coding and design, and design was the one that truly clicked for me. So I focused on it around JanuaryโFebruary 2022. My son is my everything. Heโs the reason I pushed on nights when I had every excuse not to. Heโs the reason I stayed consistent, the reason I fought to change my life, and the reason I decided to build something meaningful for myself. My story is proof that you can write your own story. Yes, motherhood can be heavy. It comes with so many responsibilities. But it can also be the stepping stone to greatness. It doesnโt have to be the obstacle standing between you and your dreams. So today, Iโm celebrating myself. Happy Motherโs Day to me. ๐คshow more

In a recent filter interview, Karim Benzema opened up... about his time playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid and he didnโt hold back. Benzema claimed Ronaldo was extremely selfish on the pitch, always wanting to take every set piece: โRonaldo wanted everything corners, free kicks, penaltiesโฆ everything. If he didnโt score in a match, he wouldnโt talk to anyone in the dressing room. Thatโs just how he was. I still remember one game where I had already scored two goals. I got fouled inside the box and it was a clear penalty my chance for the first hat-trick of my career. The coach told me to take the penalty, but Cristiano came and took the ball from me. He took the shot instead. Thatโs the kind of teammate he was. When Cristiano left for Juventus, thatโs when I started shining. We said goodbye to our beloved Odom last night... as it was his time to go. To say I am devastated would be an understatement because that dog has saved my life more times than I could even begin to fathom. To be with him at the end of his amazing life was an honor I do not take for granted. Most of my days and routines over the last few years were centered around him and ensuring that he received what he needed. Whether it was receiving insulin for his diabetes at the same times every day or planning walks and meals to accommodate what worked best for him, my schedule revolved around what he needed. To some, this might seem like a nuisance. For me, it made me better. I made his routines my routines. Walking him twice a day gave me time to reflect and appreciate all of the good in my life. Planning time for his exercise ensured I did the same for myself. Being immediately anchored by his weight on a walk because he wanted to appreciate something he had noticed taught me to slow down and take in moments in a way I wasnโt used to. His routine was my routine, and it made me better. When I first saw him at the Edmonton Humane Society Society, I wasnโt ready for a dog. My brother Alec was there, and he saw me with Odom, and he knew that I was in love immediately. I didnโt find Odom, but Odom found me. I left, not taking him home and immediately knew it was a mistake, and that he was meant to be in my life. I went to the Edmonton Humane Society the next day, 30 minutes before it opened, to ensure that I would be the first person to go through the doors. I headed straight for where Odom was, and he came home with me that day. With all of the ups and downs I have had in my life since, my love and pride in that dog were a constant. I am terribly sad, and I am taking solace in this quote from Andrew Garfield on grief: โThis is all the unexpressed love, the grief that will remain with us until we pass because we never get enough time with each other, no matter if someone lives till 60, 15, or 99.โ I love that dog because that dog loved me. ๐จ SHIKHAR DHAWAN REVEALS THE LOWEST POINT OF HIS... LIFE ๐จ Question ๐ฃ๏ธ: What was the lowest point of your life? Shikhar Dhawan Said ๐ฃ๏ธ: "When I was 21 years old, I went on a tour of Australia to play for India. At that time, I would get attracted to almost every girl I saw. I got into a relationship with one of them, and we partied a lot, had a lot of fun, and I got heavily involved in that lifestyle. Because of that, I couldnโt play the entire series, and my focus completely deteriorated. Then, when she left me, I would slowly break down and cry in the car, and I went through a very depressing phase. After that, I drifted away from the India team circle. If I had performed well in that series, I might have played for the Indian team much earlier. Thatโs one of the reasons why I made my India debut later than I could have."show more

My wifey found him!!!!!! 2 miles into the Forrest!... We ran into some campers that saw him and split up into two directions. Wifey actually climbed up to the top of the mountain and found him hiding from wolves and coyotes and bears in like a rock cave. She took a video and saw his eyes glowing and he was keeping quiet which was smart cause of predators I had just buried my little dog after 20 years together and Bruno is only 4 so I feared the worst and wifey kept saying sheโll find him and she did in pitch black dark with just a flashlight after almost 5hrs Sorry for the drama but I had a presentation planned and my 11yr old daughter ran up and told me that one of the smaller kids opened one of the sliding doors and he went exploring but we have some construction going on so he couldnโt get to the park that we normally go to next to my house and he crossed a dark semi busy highway which was a first and ended up 2 miles into a pitch black Forrest How she found him I still donโt know. I had grabbed my tent ready to sleep the night deep in the woods too. But I got lucky, heโs the sweetest animal and my best friend we do everything together everyday and he sleeps in my bed with me every night so I was heart broken until my wife faced timeโd me and said look who I found and I bust into tears of joy not gonna lie and said how the F did you find him, and she said his magical glowing eyes and for the first time I laughed and could feel my heart fill with joy Sorry for the long story.show more

Watching this reminded me of my first job in... America - a server in one of the casino buffets. Our buffet was famous with the crab legs. "My brother called me at 2am from a gas... station parking lot. He said he wasn't okay. I mean really wasn't okay. I stayed on the phone with him for three hours. He wasn't alone in that car. Atlas was with him the whole time. My brother told me later โ 'Every time I went somewhere dark in my head, Atlas would shift closer. Like he could feel exactly where I was going and he just kept pulling me back without touching me.' He's getting help now. He made the call himself Monday morning. He said Atlas kept him in that car until it was a different kind of night." I drove to that gas station at 5am when he finally said I could come. I stood outside the passenger window before I opened the door. Atlas was on the passenger seat. His head on the console. Watching my brother. Still watching. He had been watching all night. I stood in that parking lot in the cold and I looked at my brother alive in that car and I looked at the dog who kept him there and I couldn't open the door for a long time. I just stood there. Needing a minute to be grateful in the cold before I went inside the warm. My brother is okay. He's talking to someone. Atlas hasn't left his side since that night.
