On their return to the hospital, the personnel encountered a group of people from a tavern along the road who violently attacked them and opened the doors of the moving vehicle. The Department of Health in Limpopo has condemned the incident. "As a department, we are both appalled and deeply disappointed by this incident. The villagers reportedly engaged the assailants directly, forcing them to retreat after a brief confrontation. During the encounter, one of the suspected bandits was neutralised by the community defence group, while others fled with possible injuries. When the HTS-led General Security militias intervened, they arrested dozens of young men from the Ismaili community, while providing protection to the Bedouins. A protest subsequently broke out demanding the release of the detainees and the achievement of justice and equality through the impartial enforcement of the law, without sectarian or religious discrimination.
