NEW: Columbus, Georgia, police chief Stoney Mathis has a... blunt message for anyone who targets his police officers: "If you commit murder in the city of Columbus and then you shoot two of my police officers, we're going to kill you." The comment from Mathis came after a suspect, 33-year-old Jerome Willis, shot and killed a manager at a Dollar General before getting in a shootout with police officers. Willis had recently been released from prison. As a juvenile, he was sentenced to 20 years for robbery. He was released before being convicted of terroristic threats in 2024.
