It’s comical how so many people who couldn’t hit criticize Don Mattingly when he talks hitting! One if the differences in the #gurus and the real hitting coaches is that the #gurus believe that they could play today because they can hit in a batting cage off a tee or pitching machine when in reality they couldn’t hit when they had their chance. A real hitting coach remembers what worked for him because it’s ingrained in him. 5 years ago I started exposing the #gurus because I believed that what they are teaching kids is detrimental to kids development. It’s no coincidence that most of them have blocked me on various social media platforms. This guy Optimal Power Performance in particular is responsible for changing the swing of Kyren Paris, the #4 prospect in the Los Angeles Angels Organization in 2024, this offseason which has resulted in Kyren hitting (.190) in the MLB and now under (.230) in AAA. Hopefully Kyren abandons the HLP (All or nothing) style before it ruins his career like it did Scott Kingery’s. Scott worked with this instructor this offseason as well and after a brief call up where he hit (.160) is back in AAA and time is running out. The funny part is I think this guy actually believes what he’s saying while every former MLB player I know is laughing his ass off and shocked that anyone could possibly buy into this 💩! Do your homework parents.
