Rwandans are put in position to applaud a man who has built his power on fear. Today, #Kagame told citizens to "tighten their belts," acknowledging the economic hardship they face. But no one can ask why the same man - who lives in unchecked luxury, funds his lifestyle with taxpayer money, and flies in private jets owned by Crystal Ventures (his regime’s business empire) - feels entitled to lecture them on sacrifice. While ordinary Rwandans struggle with rising costs and declining opportunities, Kagame continues to channel state resources into military operations, foreign lobbying, and ventures that benefit his inner circle. His government’s budget prioritizes regime security over citizens’ well-being, yet the people are expected to remain silent, applaud, and pretend they don’t see the contradictions.
