It is an insult to the young girls exploited through what they call #VisitRwanda. ,It is an insult to the women who are raped every day in eastern #Congo, where #Kagame's government is using the Rwanda Defence Force and #M23 to extract Congo's mineral wealth at the cost of Congolese lives. #Kagame wanted to receive African migrants removed from Britain, a wealthy country that respects human rights,and bring them to #Rwanda, a country where street vendors are beaten and people suffer abuse in prisons. I spoke with ARD, Germany’s joint organisation of regional public-service broadcasters, about how Paul #Kagame’s regime is using the #UCIWorldChampionship2025 to polish its image. Behind this showcase, Kagame’s regime continues to repress its citizens, silence independent voices & destabilize the region - particularly through its aggression in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where war crimes and crimes against humanity have been documented. Sports are being instrumentalized for image laundering, and the UCI plays a role in enabling this façade.
