By electing me as their MP for the third consecutive time with a margin of 7.1 lakh votes, the people of Diamond Harbour placed upon me a debt I can never truly repay. But I have vowed to try, every single day. Thus, #Sebaashray was born. And what an extraordinary journey it has been. For 75 days, our doctors, nurses, volunteers, and support staff have worked tirelessly, restoring not just health but also the smiles of those in need. Witnessing that joy return to their faces has been the greatest gift I could ask for. As long as I have their blessings, I will fight, I will strive, I will work every single day to uplift their lives. Because this is not just my constituency. This is my family.

#SEBAASHRAY has always been more than just routine health check-ups and free medical services; it is about TIMELY MEDICAL INTERVENTIONS that are now SAVING LIVES. This was evident in the case of 9-year-old Altaf Hosen Ghorami, whose story is a testament to the initiative’s impact. Altaf’s father brought him to a Sebaashray camp, where routine tests revealed a CRITICAL HEART CONDITION. He was promptly referred to the Model Camp at Diamond Harbour SDO Ground, where further examination confirmed a CONGENITAL CARDIAC ANOMALY that severely impaired his oxygen levels. Acting swiftly, the team referred him to Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital for advanced care. On 18th January, 2025, a highly-skilled Pediatric Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) team of 20-25 specialists – including surgeons, perfusionists, anesthetists, nurses and OT technicians – performed a GRUELLING 4-HOUR SURGERY to correct the anomaly. I am relieved to share that Altaf is NOW OUT OF DANGER. With proper post-operative care, he will soon be back on his feet, ready to EMBRACE LIFE WITH RENEWED VIGOUR. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire medical team for their expertise, dedication, precision and kindness in handling this mammoth responsibility of saving a child’s life. Altaf’s story reinforces our commitment to ensuring that EVERY INDIVIDUAL HAS ACCESS TO LIFE-SAVING HEALTHCARE. This is the PROMISE OF SEBAASHRAY! 🤝🏼🏥💫

Day 3 of #Sebaashray, and the numbers speak for themselves! Across 41 health camps in Diamond Harbour Assembly Constituency, 11,388 people received free, high-quality healthcare today. Out of these, 7,053 underwent diagnostic tests, 6,537 received essential medications, and 253 were referred to specialty hospitals for advanced care. #Sebaashray has reached the halfway mark in Diamond Harbour Assembly Constituency, and the results are undeniable: 🩺 41 health camps have provided 58,582 individuals with free, high-quality medical care 🔬 32,067 diagnostic tests conducted 💊 30,049 people received free medications 🏥 1,332 patients referred to specialty hospitals for critical care Just today, 18,775 people benefitted from our healthcare services, with 8,895 diagnostic tests conducted, 8,862 receiving free medicines, and 302 patients referred for specialised care. Ultrasound Sonography (USG) Tests are also being conducted to ensure thorough medical evaluations. This is a promise to prioritise the health and well-being of every single constituent. Today, across the 41 Sebaashray health camps in the Diamond Harbour Assembly Constituency, 15,785 INDIVIDUALS received free, high-quality medical services. Among them: 🔬 8,467 diagnostic tests were conducted 💊 8,108 people received medications free-of-cost 🏥 360 patients were referred to specialty hospitals for critical care Notably a 9-YEAR-OLD BOY, diagnosed with CYANOTIC HEART DISEASE was referred to the Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital for surgery. Meanwhile, 70-year-old Hossain Mollick, who experienced a CARDIAC ARREST was PROMPTLY transferred to the Diamond Harbour Government Medical College and Hospital for IMMEDIATE TREATMENT. This is the Diamond Harbour model in action: a model where politics is not a quest for power, but a commitment to SERVICE. The DIAMOND HARBOUR MODEL continues to SHOW THE WAY! #Sebaashray has become a LIFELINE for the rural poor, providing medical services to over 1 LAKH PEOPLE in just 7 DAYS. Today alone, 41 health camps in the Diamond Harbour AC served 30,480 PEOPLE. Among them, 10,708 underwent diagnostic tests, 10,183 received free medication, and 299 were referred to specialty hospitals for advanced care. This initiative is no longer confined to one PC. The parents of a young patient from Jalpaiguri brought their two-year-old child to a Sebaashray camp. Doctors determined the need for a cochlear implant, which shall be arranged FREE OF COST. This is the DIFFERENCE a single initiative, driven by commitment and care, can make!

Three months ago, Sheikh Hasibul’s world was upended. A rare case of spinal tumor had left him paralysed. When he arrived at a #Sebaashray camp in Metiabruz, he placed his faith in us. That faith set in motion a critical, life-saving surgery at Apollo Hospital, Kolkata, completely free of cost. Today, for the first time in three months, Hasibul took steps with assistance. I visited him at the Hospital and had the privilege of witnessing the relief, gratitude and renewed hope in his family’s eyes. Tomorrow, he will be discharged, walking away as a testament to scientific excellence and the power of timely intervention.

In 2025, I am proud to present #Sebaashray - a harmonious blend of ‘সেবা’ (seba means service) and ‘আশ্রয়’ (ashray means shelter), as a humble offering to the people of Diamond Harbour. Today, I inaugurated the health camps, taking stock of the arrangements, engaging with doctors, nurses, and volunteers, and personally connecting with the people to understand their needs and aspirations. Honouring this commitment, today, seven individuals diagnosed with cataract-related issues at the Maheshtala Sebaashray health camp underwent free cataract surgeries at Renuka Eye Institute, restoring not just their sight, but their faith in a system that prioritises people over profit. Every life we touch strengthens our resolve. Our journey continues, not in grand gestures, but in quiet service to the people.
