AWS made history by turning $20M data centers into a metered drip you never stopped paying for. The challenge was no one really knew what they were paying for at first (by design). In reaction, cloud computing became a monthly expense with a whole new set of tools designed to manage that expense (hello, DevOps). AI is going to follow a similar trajectory. LLM providers want AI to be a monthly cost we all mindlessly pay. Companies know they’ll need to get a handle on AI spend, just like they did with cloud computing, but there's a problem: The infrastructure doesn't exist yet. But companies can’t afford to wait. Building virtual sets on top of reality, moving around in them and seeing them transformed entirely with Gen AI. Is this the future? :D This was quite simple to make actually: Figmin XR running on my Quest 3, using some models from sketchfab and some custom creations to set-dress my hallway. Filming a small performance of walking through the set and then using Runway Gen 3 to transform that. I'm still missing a lot of control with the AI process, like uploading style frames along the duration of the video.. but overall this is pretty incredible! Can't help but think about how insane it would have been to be able to use Dreams for stuff like this! What do you think? #art #ai

But almost none of it is shared, aligned, or contextualized across a team. We've seen this movie before. Cloud 1.0 was just "the same software, but online". The real breakthrough was collaboration. Google Docs beat Word. Figma beat Sketch. Notion beat Evernote. Every single-player tool lost to its multi-player counterpart. AI is about to go through the same transformation.
