1/4) In a human randomized controlled trial, stearic acid caused mitochondrial fusion. A low stearic acid vegan diet, by contrast, caused mitochondrial fragmentation. The data also show that fusion improves mitochondrial function and “beta-oxidation” (biochemical “fat burning”).

2/4) Animal data also suggest stearic acid can increase visceral fat loss. While I don't expect this fully translates to humans, it makes the point: macronutrients are NOT just about calories. Different sugars, fats, and proteins have different effects on metabolism.

Mitochondrial fusion = your cells working efficiently. Stearic acid promotes this fusion— helping your body burn fat better. Low stearic acid (common in vegan diets) may fragment mitochondria— which means less efficient energy and fat burn. Fuel your mitochondria wisely.

You're about five years behind.

Reminder that LDL cholesterol is not the boogeyman it's been made out to be, and that improving health mostly comes down to improving metabolic health. Some targets below:

My dentist ate a vegetarian diet for five years. A first, she felt great. But later, her mind got so foggy she worried she had dementia and even saw her doctor about it. Eventually she added meat and other animal based foods back into her diet, and all her problems went away. Your brain needs the things that are in animal based foods. Specifically: B vitamins, iron, zinc, iodine, omega-3 fatty acids even creatine etc. Plant based diets require significant planning and/or supplementation to replace these nutrients otherwise you will run into problems eventually.

You may have heard it’s impossible to reverse plaque buildup in the heart. Your doctor may have told you lifelong statins are the only solution. I’m here to tell you that is patently false.

The number of people who still want to blame their genes for what their choices in life are doing remains staggering. When you state the fact that food is what’s making people chronically sick, people get angry and nasty. Damn, homies! I seem to have struck a nerve when I tell people it’s their responsibility to be healthy.
