In 1977 i managed to sit on a Cray computer at Daresbury Laboratory, I remember all the huge discs required for storage

They used cassette tapes?? 🙄🤯

How many bytes did the floppy disk hold?

I had no idea the Brits had their own version of PBS's Computer Chronicles in the early '80s, lol. This nerd watched the hell outta that show when I was a kid.

It's been longer between now and since CD's became a relic of the past than between that program airing and CD's becoming a thing.

I used audio tapes initially. and wrote out code for my first computer games by copying from a magazine.

"But uses like that in a videodisk is a long way in the future". We are only 40 years ahead (it is milliseconds in terms of human being evolution) That final quote didn't age well 😂😂😂

Yep, I fixed those units back then.

In '92 I delivered all the network and IT stuff for a huge new manufacturing factory in northern England. The total storage for the entire factory was a huge 1Gb (mirrored) and required a large 'living room' to house the equipment. My iPhone 13 has 256 of those factories in it!

And here we are - a long way in the future!
