Elon Musk: I taught myself to code from a book, then sold my own games to buy better computers. “When I was about 10, I walked into a computer store in South Africa and saw an actual computer. I previously had some early sort of precursors to the Atari system, and then I got the Atari system, which I'm sure a lot of people here have played. But then I saw you could actually have a computer where you could make your own games, and it was a Commodore VIC-20. So that was the first computer I bought. And then I got some books on how to teach yourself programming. And this was like the coolest thing I'd ever seen. So I was just like, this is super awesome. And so I started programming games and then selling games in order to actually buy more games. So a bit of a circular thing. And more games and better computers and that kind of thing. This is a Commodore 1541 5.25" floppy disk drive. It functions as a computer in its own right, with its own 8-bit CPU, ROM, and operating system (CBM DOS). It is its own computer with its own operating system. The Commodore 64 or 128 or Vic 20 or whatever would talk to it over a serial cable and send commands to the onboard computer. These drives were so robust and overbuilt.

Who remembers loading games from cassette? ... when I heard #ZXSpectrumNext could load from tape, I had to try it! and with screeching sounds, flashing borders and that awesome loading screen, JETPAC loaded just like it did in the 80s ... no "R Tape Loading error", for me ;)

This is the fourth application we have made for bond pending appeal, and we've never had a ruling. -- Tina exposed the threat to our liberty from computer voting systems and the same software that was used to rig elections in Venezuela. If we don't get rid of these computer voting systems, we're all gonna lose our freedoms.

Traveled all over the world and gone to Catholic Masses all over Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, etc. Mass in the vernacular is fine in theory but in practice excludes the laity from the participation that V2 desired for the modernization of the Church. Do you know what allowed me to participate in Mass from Singapore to France to Brazil to Japan? Latin. I knew the words in Latin and knew what they meant, and no matter what country or continent I was in, I could participate in the prayers and song. This is what makes the Church universal (katholikos).

Did you know B.B. King was a legit computer nerd? 🎸💾 The King of the Blues owned a Commodore 64 in the early 80s and fell completely in love with the Commodore Amiga starting in 1986. He had at least two Amigas on the road and a souped-up one in his Vegas studio. He called his main Amiga “Lucille II” and used it to write songs, program drums, lay down horn sections, and arrange entire tracks with software like Bars & Pipes and Deluxe Music Construction Set — then he’d just play Lucille live on top. Straight from a 1987 AmigaWorld magazine interview: “I use it primarily for learning songs… I enter melodies from sheet music and then play along in real-time with Lucille. It’s real useful and lots of fun.” While the rest of the music world was slow to go digital, B.B. was out here sequencing blues on an Amiga computer he grinningly called his second lady. Absolute legend — on stage and in the studio. 👑
