What preceded was roughly a three minute excerpt from the third & final Dune and it left me floored. I nearly collapsed before The Odyssey. This RT score of 90% isn’t going to hold water. Denis Villeneuve’s next film is 127 days away, but it’s never too late to start preparing for a new Denis film. When the Dune dust finally settles, I really hope Denis & Jake Gyllenhaal have an opportunity to reunite. Between Prisoners & Enemy, we have demonstrable evidence that this actor-director pairing thrives. I don’t know if any of this will be possible considering Denis will be in charge of the James Bond franchise going forward, but a guy can hope, can’t he? By the way, this is Hugh Jackman’s best work.

Do you ever get hit with an epiphany during a regular day - like while walking your dog or doing groceries- and just think that Arrival is one of the best movies ever made? I will always listen to those who suggest Arrival is Villeneuve’s best film. I don’t see any flaws here. And I wrote about this earlier in January, but Arrival finds Amy Adams in the middle of unbelievable career run that featured films like Doubt, The Master and The Fighter. I think Arrival is the best out of all of them. If there’s one film I think could push against this as Denis’s best film, it’s Dune Part 2. Otherwise, Arrival has to be it.
