3 exercises I would NOT be caught DEAD doing: 1. Standing Cable Flys 2. Bent Over Barbell Rows 3. Hanging Leg Raises # 1 is an unstable mess # 2 is mid at best…vastly inferior to every Chest Supported alternative # 3 ISN’T EVEN AN ABS EXERCISE Ideal replacements... show more

Okay but to be fair that’s like the shittiest barbell row ever. I’d agree with you insofar as most people’s barbell rows do turn into pig slop. But when you have the strength and control to do them right they have some advantages

I’d say the biggest advantage is just specificity They’ll help you improve strength wise on them fastest in the near-medium term if that’s a primary goal of yours Outside of that, they’re just a mid combination of an upper back row + a hip/spinal extension isometric I’d just pair chest supported rows with a hinge pattern

even though when I do number three, my core really burns, not just the sides but where my belly button is, I’ll take your advice and have removed it from my regiment

I’d agree standing cable flyes limit the load you can go up to. But normally if you can reasonably stabilise your body, the load your pecs can handle (if done correctly) is normally the limiting factor and not your feet/legs bracing your position. But yeah if you’re being thrown around and huffing and puffing to keep stable, back supported will always win. Back supported wins regardless

What exactly are those short pads you’re using on the pec deck handles for the straight-arm flys? What are they called and where did you get them?

Fat gripz This is basically one of their only real uses cases

instead of the leg raises, I now do the seated cable crunch but don’t really feel it burn. even though I brace my core and do it slowly

Could be an execution or setup issue but fwiw sensation is vastly overrated

I agree on 90% of the things you say but I also believe BB Row has a time and place for certain people if you set ego aside and do them slow and controlled. But 99% of people won’t do that. I have no chest supported machines so I do chest support DBs and proper BB Rows for Pull

Bench cable fly good or cable flys all together are no bueno

Seated cable fly is excellent if you nail the setup:

Dean Sir, i got caught masturbating in the sauna at another Gold's Gym... what should i do?

Go to another one of course! Be more discreet next time!

Isnt hanging leg raises a hip flexor exercise?

The way it’s commonly performed, yep

What about decline crunches?

I mention them here in the video…they’re good as an alt to ab crunch machine

Ive been triggered

1 and 3 are ok with the form. #2 looks like a joke wtf is that

That is how most people perform bent over barbell rows

I do cable crunches and hanging leg raises because I don’t have access to an ab crunch machine or heavy enough dumbbells for weighted decline crunches. I’ve still seen some decent results in the last 6 months

Just do the cable crunches….theyre good

Hanging leg raises are quite difficult, I wouldn't call them trash necessarily

Difficult ≠ productive (for a given objective)

Drag that adjustable bench to the cables for stable flys 🤙

1 I’m fine with and enjoy even though its unstable 2 is awful 3 is nice to stretch your spine
