30 years ago, Sierra published EarthSiege 2, a mech combat sim. Originally developed by Dynamix, for which Sierra acted as a publisher many times, it puts you in control of massive bipedal war machines called HERCs (Humaniform-Emulation Roboticized Combat units). It’s single-player campaign-focused, with video briefings and squadmate digitized... show more

AKA "Mechwarror from Temu" I've played this game many times and I prefer it over the Mechwarrior series.

Haha that one made me chuckle :)

Such a shame that the whole "Mech" universe is utterly neglected in modern gaming :(

I worked on Earthsiege 3 Starsiege later Just Starsiege.

hot shit. great game on its own. building hercs was a great addition to the gameplay. also the flying herc was a nice idea even if it was hard to fly.

I think battlezone - 1998, is way better

It was, I agree. But that was also 2 years later. Tech advanced pretty fast then.

Yes, you're right.

looks alot like G-Nome. the mech combat game where you can even walk around on foot and switch vehicles

Not many people know that it's part of the same series as the later and arguably much more popular Starsiege: Tribes

now there's a title i have not seen in a very long time

This was around the same time I was working on SCARAB with John Radcliffe for EA. I think it got panned because it was kind of a slow moving game compared to something like MechWarrior. But it was quite fun in multiplayer.

I've always wanted to get into mech games, but they never "stuck" with me. I did, however, get heavily into Starsiege : Tribes, which was a spinoff series. Did you play it? Nothing like skiing down a slope in Tribes...

Hehe, yep, this one.

I felt this was better than Mechwarrior at the time

shattered steel was better

Ohhh one of my favorites!

It did a great job of balancing customization alongside pick-up-and-play action and it didn't rely as much on a joystick setup as peers such as MW. Definitely an underrated franchise. Now show us Ultrabots!

Mechwarrior was the OG

Loved this!

I think they also did Arctic Fox 10 years before this. Another good one.

I played the crap out of this game. I cannot for the life of me remember where I got it from, either.

1996, when "UPS hell" was a thing as you waited by the door to see if the truck would stop at your door to drop off your new game. For your gateway 486... (I've been a mecha fan since battletech - 'the crescent hawk's inception' on commodore.)

Sadly my computer back refused to run this game - I only could play some time at a friends PC 😩

Could never make it past the Menu screen before the game crashed. We tried EVERYTHING to get it to work, but nope. What a buggy piece of shite lol.

remember really enjoying this game

add Mario and it's perfect

This was a cool game but that sound would still in your brain after a while.

Fun game

Heavy Gear is another.

"Gut check time. The Cybrids have launched a major attack!" My fav Win95 game 👍 I piloted with a joystick while a friend handled keyboard commands. We had hours of fun, got to the point where we could anticipate what the other wanted to do.

Good MechWarrior clone

i loved using a joystick for this game.

I used to play this at a friends house on his dads computer for a while. but then my mum bought me Heavy Gear and that's all I played for a long time after that, great memories of ES2 though

I played a ton of this and NovaStorm on Windows when I was really young. Few of the first games I ever played.
