Gave Gemini 3 Deep Think an image of a 3D spider web and asked for an interactive design tool. It generated a full design suite (procedural control, simulation, optimization) with STL export capability. I used it to engineer new metamaterials and a spider-web inspired bridge design, 3D printed it, then validated the structural integrity with a NVIDIA DGX Spark load test. Thoughts on transferable skills. I was surprised reading the comments to Riley’s question about best UI animation tool for web. To anyone interested in diving into motion design I would strongly recommend - aim to become a motion expert, not Jitter/Rive/Lottie specialist. If you start from the foundations, jumping into any animation tool will feel like a walk in the park. Keyframes, easing functions, transformations - same concepts are shared between all of them. Getting to know the foundations on the web means starting with CSS, Tailwind or React Motion. I’m often creating small motion concepts in Figma (see video) and then recreating them manually in code. Any language, it doesn’t matter because principles are the same. I recently made the switch to Swift and built a small animation tool for myself (see video) that I’ll discard after I’m done with the motion. This level of comfortableness with motion gives you unmatched flexibility. From that point, tools are just interfaces for expressing something you already deeply understand. This is not about performance or technical optimizations (Lottie files can outperform CSS equivalents), tools mentioned above really are great - it’s about developing transferable creative skill that lets you think across any medium, platform or tool.

The lack of "feature design" is why so many products over time feel hollow or messy. This isn't visual design. This isn't architectural design. I thought that a short video lecture of what feature design is and a real case study of applying it in Ghostty would be helpful. Feature design is the planning step behind how you're going to solve one or more user problems with a product feature: what that feature looks like, how it feels, and not just how its going to tactically solve these specific problems, but how that solution is going to interface with the edges of other features that currently exist or are planned to exist in the future.

It's all connected in a single place. All systems (frames, layouts, booleans, vectors, effects, etc.) work in sync across 2D and 3D, non-destructively. This is the starting point of a fully multi-dimensional design process. At some point in the near future, people won't need to refer to '3d design' as a separate part of the process, because it will be all part of the same system. The following is a demo of this in the works within Hana (a design canvas). We will ship this latest development in about a week.

When I was 8 years old, my favorite thing in the world was making mixtapes for my Walkman from my big sister’s CDs. That evolved into Lego stop-motion videos, and later, I fell down the rabbit hole of editing Naruto anime clips to Evanescence & Linkin Park beats. Looking back, it’s obvious: Sound and Video were always the main drivers in my life. I think that obsession also led me to my true love: Motion Design. A huge shoutout to Kevin who showed me +10 years ago the world of Motion Design. And honestly, look at where we are now. Who would have thought that there would be such a massive hype around Motion Design and UI promo videos? From giants like Airbnb to the new generation of creators like sutoxoriginals. The visual standard in 2026 is insane. But there was always one part of the process that felt like a grind to me: Sound Design. I love the result, but I hated the process. I was spending 4-5 hours per project just searching for the right sound effects. "Key typing effect" "Mouse click" "Subtle Whoosh" and so on.. So, I decided to fix it. I sat down with a Dev friend and we spent the last few weekends building a native AI tool right inside After Effects. The concept is simple: SoundDesigner AI watches your video. It understands the vibe and exactly what’s happening and when its happening. It sees a clock ticking or a text appearing, and it generates the perfect sound for it in seconds, synced to the action in your timeline. I’ve been using it on my own projects for a few days now, and it’s wild. My sound design workflow went actually from 5 hours to 20 minutes.
