America spends more on education than almost any other country, yet our reading and math scores are the WORST in the G7 and G20. Why? Unions. Unions protect mediocrity and keep bad teachers in place, while great teachers who actually make an impact get underpaid. That’s insane! If we want to fix education, we need to fire the bad teachers and pay the great ones a LOT more. I’m all for rewarding results. If you’re advancing math and reading scores, you should be making a great salary. If you’re holding students back, you’re out!

Terence Tao summarized how AI is massively accelerating math career and math research. "In math, you previously had to basically go through years and years of education to be a math PhD before you could contribute to the frontier of math research. But now it's quite possible at the high school level or whatever, that you could get involved in a math project and actually make a real contribution because of all these AI tools and lean and everything else." Why is there a push to close Chicago Public Schools on May 1? According to the Illinois State Board of Education, only 1 in 3 CPS elementary students are proficient in reading and only 1 in 5 are proficient in math. Our kids need more time in the classroom, not less, yet Chicago parents are being asked for their kids to lose another day of school on May 1st for a political Day of Action. Parents and kids rely on schools for learning and consistency. Closing schools will send parents scrambling for babysitters or losing wages to stay home to care for their kids. For some kids, schools are where they get their meals and are the safest place they’ll be that day. As a CPS mom, I have skin in the game and expect my son to be in school where he belongs on May 1st. Keep Chicago’s students in the classroom, parents at work, and focus on the city’s test scores, not its politics. #chicago

This teacher says to his students that he will never remember what grade you got when you leave his class. But, he said he will remember the kindness that certain students showed to other students. He gives two examples of children that were alone or loners and two students taking the time to go out of their way to sit & talk with them to help make them feel like they weren't alone. I wish all teachers cared this much. Our system gets so caught up in the smartest students, the best athletes, the most popular kids and they seem to garner the most attention and favoritism. It's the quiet students, the loners, the awkward ones, the ones who don’t have friends that need attention and help in my opinion. Well done sir. Bravo. 👏 I wish more teachers had your mindset. There is hope yet for our educational system.
