Moving averages are not support. They are math. Scot1and, a trader and educator who builds his entire framework around price and auction activity, breaks down why this distinction is critical. A moving average has no participants behind it. A price congestion zone does — real volume, real transactions, real memory baked into the chart. When those two things coincide and the moving average holds, traders credit the indicator when they should credit the zone. When they diverge, traders get hurt holding a level that was never real to begin with. Real support is where the market has already done business. That is the only line worth watching.

In my opinion, if you’re going to ask me, like I teach my sons, they have to have the last two Mondays and the last two Fridays always because they’re at the beginning and the end of the week. So that’s what Cameron made money with today. He used information that is gleaned from that range, where we’re at in price action, and using the higher timeframe expectancy that we saw, that rejection when it went up to take that short term high." ---- Timestamp 1:00:46 "But every one of you listening, if you were my kid, if you were sitting with me, you would be hearing me tell you: Do you have two Mondays worth? 8 years back, I spoke to jack schwager, the man behind the Market Wizards series. Sandeep Rao - SEBI Reg. RA🖖 spoke to him again recently on In The Money, and it was an interesting conversation. Market Wizards is probably the only book I've read multiple times when I was trading actively. The one thing that stood out to me from the video was the debate between systematic vs. discretionary trading. There's a common assumption that the best traders are rules-based, meaning they follow a fixed set of rules. The logic is that this helps them keep their emotions in check so they can follow the signals dispassionately. But what Jack found among the traders he interviewed was that almost all of them were discretionary traders. They had rules, but they knew when not to follow them. Meaning, they knew when their approach wasn't working and when they had to change the "rules" they were following. The one purely systematic trader he ever profiled kept changing his systems. He once showed Jack the equity curve of the original system he made his first money on. It went straight up while he traded it, and straight down after he abandoned it. If he had stuck to it with blind discipline, he would have been wiped out. At the very least, what this shows is that there isn't just one way to make money. There are numerous approaches that work, and you ultimately have to figure out what works for you and stick with that approach until it stops working, because nothing works all the time. I started winning a lot more trades when I realized waiting is part of the strategy. Most of my trading session is spent waiting. - Wait for price to reach my zone - Wait for the liquidity sweep - Wait for the market shift Only when everything lines up with my plan do I think about taking a trade. None of those things are in my control. I can't make price move faster. I can't force a setup to appear. All I can do is wait until the market gives me what I'm looking for. Some days I wait for hours to take one position. Some days I don't take one at all. I'm completely fine with that. The market will always give you another opportunity tomorrow. And the less pressure I put on myself to find trades, the better my decisions become. The money you're looking for comes from the trades you have the discipline to wait for.

Risk management is the only skill that survives a cycle change. Strategies die. Setups stop working. Indicators get arbed away within a cycle. I have been here for a decade. Survived three bear markets. The traders still standing from the 2018 cohort are not the ones who had the best setup. They are the ones who never had a single trade big enough to take them out. Size correctly and the worst-case loss is a Tuesday inconvenience. Size wrong once and the cycle is over before it started. You don't train risk management when you are losing. You train it when you are winning. Makes sense?
