Today was an extremely proud and exciting day for me. As you know I currently drive my chair using my head on my headrest as my arms didn’t have the strength. But today I got a joystick fitted on my wheelchair and I have now built up enough strength and movement in my arm to use my hand on a joystick to drive my wheelchair. This is a goal I have been trying to reach since 2017 but I simply wasn't strong enough to do it. I have no finger movement but I now also have enough strength so I have a little button you can see on my arm rest that I punch to turn on the wheelchair & to select my menu💪 Ever since I done it today I haven't taken the smile off my face and I am just buzzing knowing that my hard work and stubbornness was worth it over the last 6 years since my accident. The fact I was told I would never move a muscle or a limb again makes it that much sweeter. I told myself that there will be haters, there will be doubters, there will be non-believers, and then there will be ME proving them wrong. I hope I am an example for others to show you can beat the odds! 💯 Thank you so much to everyone on here believing in me and continue supporting me everyday, this success is as much for you as it is for me. Please give this video a share to spread the word so it might give another person hope. Spitting at me is disgusting, and I will make you famous. I had been on the street for 1 minute and was still quietly setting up my tripod — which would be broken two minutes later in a separate assault — and this man felt compelled to spit at me for wearing a sign that says “children cannot consent to puberty blockers.” Guess what? You don’t get to spit at me and walk on like nothing happened. In a proper world you’d be arrested.

I’m in Brazil for the first time in 10 years, since the Rio Olympics. And tomorrow morning I won’t be contesting for the podium. The hamstring tear I suffered in Tokyo 7 months ago is still healing and I am a long way from where I was then. But I’m excited for this test, to see where my body is at. And I am grateful that World Athletics included me in their pre-race press conference knowing that and asking me instead about what Brazil gave to me 10 years ago. It’s remarkable to think how much I’ve grown and changed in the last decade, and the role my first Olympics played in that. Tomorrow morning (7am Vancouver time on CBC Gem) I’ll hit the streets of Brasilia, and I will give it everything I have. And maybe tomorrow that will be 40th place. But my words from the evening of that fateful 50km 10 years ago will ring soundly in my ear, ‘I left everything I possibly had out there and I can’t ask for anything more than that.’

240kg on the bar this morning for Romanian deadlifts, and I got all the way to the walk-up before it hit me. No intra-workout carbs. Bit of a sweat on at this point. Nothing to sip between sets. No steady drip of maltodextrin holding the whole operation together. Then I had a think about the morning and realised I hadn't had breakfast either. No oats. No banana. Nothing whatsoever in the ninety-minute window that the internet assures me is load-bearing. Proper panic now. Hands going. Then, and I wish I'd stopped checking, I looked back a bit further. No carbohydrate yesterday. Or the day before. Or, on closer inspection, since 2020. Six years. Six years of catabolism I've apparently been walking around in without noticing. So that's the session off. Strip the bar, go home, start the repair job, ring somebody. But while I was standing there working out who to ring, I looked back a bit further still. Two and a half million years, roughly. And every single ancestor I have ever had did months of the hardest physical work of their lives on nothing at all, in the cold, and not one of them made a fuss about it. They didn't have a protocol for it. They had a word for it. Winter. So I risked it all and pulled anyway. Came up fine. Comes up fine every morning. Genuinely disappointed. I'd got quite invested in the collapse.

Playing pro basketball has always been a dream of mine ever since I was a little kid. Being able to travel the world and get paid to play the past 5 years has truly been a remarkable experience. To get the opportunity to live in 7 countries, be immersed in different cultures, meet new people, and play basketball at a high level are memories I will always cherish. Since being back in the States in May, I have had a lot of time to reflect on what the next step is for me and my family. I got my Real Estate License in the summer with the intentions of just doing it in the off seasons, and then get into it full time when I was done playing. But when our daughter Rinnie was born in September, my mindset began to change. Having a family and being a father has always been a dream of mine too. And now that she is here, I look at life a lot differently. It has been amazing to be around family and friends and raise our daughter in our own home right here in our hometown in Illinois. On top of that, I have really been enjoying being a Real Estate Agent and adjusting to the new challenges that come along with it. I still love basketball, but I always knew there would come a time when I’d have to hang it up, and this feels like it for me. Being a father and a husband is the most important thing to me and that will always come first. Knowing that this is the best decision for us really gives me peace in walking away from a game that has been so good to me over my life. Thank you to basketball for giving me the life I had dreamed about since a child. Now, on to the next chapter of my life 👶🏼🏠🌾🇺🇸

Mother with two kids her abusive boyfriend vandalized her apartment and stole her gun two weeks after he was arrested for putting his hands on her. According yo her gofund me page… Hi my name is Destinee I'm a single mother of two who just moved back to Dallas from Chicago just to give my kids a better life. I Wanted my kids to experience something more than where we were from. Better schools, more opportunities, and cheaper rent for me to be able to do more with my kids. It all backfired on me dealing with a man I thought I could trust somebody I was with on and off for 2 years. Two weeks ago he put his hands on me and that was my final straw me. I have a daughter and I refuse to let her see me get abused by a man. I have to lead by example for both of my kids. Being the God fearing woman l am I gave him a few weeks to get his situation in order to official leave my apartment today. I went about my day as normal took my kids to school and went to do Lyft. Once I got back home he has completely vandalized my apartment from TVs, my content phone, my bed, my daughter's iPad, clothes and more! He also stole my gun I took all the proper steps to get him arrested for the assault from 2 weeks ago and for property damage that was done today. Detective stated it will take 3 to 5 business days for any progress but they are on top of it considering his background they cannot issue out a protective order until they have him in custody. I Will be going to the courthouse tomorrow to try and get a temporary restraining order but for now it's all a waiting game. just started my job and I just moved back here and I refuse to lose it all or let him run me back to Chicago. My daughter's birthday is in 4 days and I have to put a smile on my face and pick up the pieces for my babies.

What a ride. I have made the incredibly difficult decision to step down from Ava Labs. In this post I want to talk about how these last 4 years completely changed my life, grew me as a person in ways never imaginable, and what ill be doing next. In my time at Ava Labs I made lifelong memories, friends, and built things I will be proud of for the rest of my life. From launching AAA games, being exit liquidity for AVAX NFTS, partnering with the largest institutions on earth, to traveling the world and bonding with this incredible community. It is really hard to think of a better way I could have spent these years of my career. I am still incredibly bullish on Avalanche and the vision. There is a reason I was here for so long. Will be watching and chearing on as a community member. For now I will be taking some much needed rest. I will be taking my talents to the road, taking a multiple month cross country trip in a van. Nature, friends, and a lot of time thinking thoughts. It will be great to unwind as i figure out what's next. Finally promoted to a community member🔺

"my manager, when i was 12 years old, sent me to a center in italy which was focused on physical and mental training. physical training, even at 12, i knew what that meant. but, mental training for me was completely new and i got there and i was incredibly surprised. and so very early on in my career, i was sensibilized by the fact of resting and giving some rest to the brain in some moments of life and sort of during a race weekend for example is incredibly important."

Charles Oliveira on a potential fight against Mateusz Gamrot at #UFCRio "I was focused on a guy who comes from a striking background... with two weeks left until the fight, I have to change my whole gameplan. It's very complicated. I don't want to be taken off the card. I asked for this card, I've been training like crazy for it... [Gamrot] is a good matchup for me in a sense because he's a wrestler/grappler. But it's completely different from the style I've been training for the last month or two.
