Tracie Bennett is brilliant. And so is the director, Dominic Cooke. The first section of the song is diegetic (performed to others). Then the song becomes internal as Carlotte sings about Reno &c. The duality song shows Sondheim's genius and the staging makes it clear. Wonderful

i think i’ve watched every performance of this song available on youtube… wish i could take excerpts from all my faves to create “my” perfect version! this however, from the great karen morrow in a los angeles regional revival of follies is just so special to me…

Outstanding! The ultimate survivor’s anthem, performed beautifully! Does it get much better than this? 👏👏

I saw this in London! The production was incredible and this moment was definitely a highlight of the show. Also Josephine Barstow as “Old Heidi” who was transcendent!

'Pretzels and beer' was previously used by Sondheim in Evening Primrose: 'If you can find me, I'm Here'. Maybe it should be renamed, 'If you can find me, I'm Still Here'

It was such a treat to see her this side of the pond in “Here We Are” after seeing Tracie Bennett in “End Of The Rainbow.” Wish I could’ve seen her as Mame at the Hope Mill Theatre.

I saw this live. It was electrifying. Tracie is a whole level or brilliant. I’ll never forget seeing this and how perfect it was.

@SondheimSociety Musical theatre rarely gets better than @OfficiTracieB ‘s performance in Follies. It was an absolutely perfect performance of a nuanced character, fabulously sung.

Love this woman.. she’s incredible.. her voice reminds me of the great Judy Garland, and wish I’d seen her in ‘End of the Rainbow’.. I did see her in this spectacular production though and in ’Mame’ at the wonderful @hopemilltheatre @OfficialTracieB
