🧵 THREAD: NextGen Personal Finance is a California nonprofit with nearly $40 million in assets. It lobbied for the Texas graduation requirement it now stands ready to fulfill. Alongside lessons on loans and interest rates, it teaches something else entirely…

Its student materials teach that equal treatment is unjust — and that only equalized outcomes count as "justice." That has nothing to do with personal finance. It's the foundational premise of socialism, presented to high schoolers as settled truth.

A unit titled "Racial Discrimination in Finance" directs students to one explanation for financial disparities: the American economic system itself. A separate lesson presents reparations as "one step on the path toward racial justice" — and asks students to connect justice to reparations.

The capstone assignment: make an Instagram or TikTok post to "educate and mobilize the actions of others." Not a budget. Not a business plan. A social media activism campaign — in a required personal finance course.

Missing from the curriculum: how markets actually work. Basic economic theory. The principles that built the most prosperous economy in human history. Students are handed conclusions about the American system without ever being taught to understand it.

This is all on NGPF's public website. Equal treatment and equalized outcomes are not the same thing — and the difference is the difference between the principles of the American founding and socialism. Every Texas kid deserves a personal finance course that teaches economics, not ideology.
