CleanShot X is great. The subscription isn't. So I rebuilt BetterShot from the ground up native Swift, zero web views, zero tauri. BetterShot now runs natively on macOS, powered by Swift 6 + SwiftUI. Here's what you get for free, forever: - Region, fullscreen & window capture - Beautiful backgrounds gradients, solids, macOS wallpapers, custom images - Annotations arrows, shapes, text, blur, spotlight, numbered badges - OCR text extraction + QR/barcode scanning - Color picker - Pin screenshots as floating windows - Self-timer with countdown overlay - Capture history - In-app updates - Lives in your menu bar. No Dock clutter. Local-first. No cloud. No telemetry. No subscription. Open source → Try it →

Animal Crossing running natively on macOS, iPhone, and iPad for the first time. Not emulated. The original Animal Crossing for GameCube rebuilt as a native Apple Silicon source port. ACreTeam decompiled the game. The ACGC-PC-Port contributors got it running as native code. Encounter built Aurora, the generic graphics and platform foundation that can render GameCube-style games through Metal. Codex 5.6 Sol used that foundation to get the actual Animal Crossing game running through Metal, then built Bellpad around it: the Apple Silicon migration, macOS app, iPhone and iPad app, Files import, touch controls, controller support, save import/export, native text entry, and the IPA pipeline. I set the goal, did the research, and directed the testing and iteration. Full source and IPA below.

we all mourned the loss of Arc. no other browser delivered swipeable spaces + per-space profiles (without spawning new windows). nothing feels truly 120fps smooth and native. Zen is a Firefox wrapper. Helium is just thin shims on Chromium. so I built Tangent built on Chromium (for compatibility) + Rust + GPUI (the engine behind Zed’s legendary performance). - swipeable spaces - different profiles per space in one window - sync across profiles (something even Arc never did) - true 120fps native feel - all the Arc features you loved + more - cross platform foundations from Day 1 - free and open source the browser I would have paid anything for, and yet nobody sold it to me. fast, alive, and built to last. coming soon to devices near you

Most system monitors give you graphs. I made one that gives you a cat. Zoomies is a tiny macOS menu bar app that turns CPU usage into a running animal. The harder your Mac works, the faster it runs. Free. Open source. ~2 MB. Looking for early users and feedback 👇

This is it, native PCVR on MacOS! The OpenXR SDK can be compiled on MacOS, So I implemented a runtime and a streaming app. Godot supports OpenXR on MacOS so I use it to test my integration. Unity could work too and of course native C++. 1/x

SOMEONE OPEN-SOURCE A CHROMIUM BROWSER THAT RUNS ENTIRELY IN YOUR TERMINAL. It's called Carbonyl. It renders actual web pages in your command line. The best part is it runs with 0% CPU usage when idle. → Full Chromium engine in the terminal. → Dles at exactly 0% CPU. → Fast, lightweight, and completely terminal-native. 100% Open Source.

I'm using macOS for more than 14 years now, in a single laptop screen setup with lots of windows open, and I'm using macOS spaces everyday to organize my windows. Switching between spaces is easy: I hit CTRL+arrow left/right, it takes no time. What takes time however, is this macOS-native transition animation that takes a bit less than 1 second, for every single space switch. I've checked everywhere in macOS settings, asked friends with the same problem, and there's just no setting to disable this effect (even with Reduced Motion ON in Accessibility settings). This UX choice from Apple alone costs me days of my time every year, as I'm working non-stop on my SaaS business for 10h a day 5-6 days a week (Crisp for those who know about it!). I calculated that with my daily use of macOS spaces, in 6 months I'd perform 100,000 switches, which costs me the same in seconds waiting for the transition to complete. This represents almost 28 hours waiting. In 1 year, I'd have lost 2.4 days just... waiting! The Hack Fortunately, some other open-source projects discovered a hack not so long ago, which allows disabling the transition when switching spaces: it involves sending to the system a "fake" trackpad left/right swipe gesture that's faster than what's expected (faster than what a human can input via the Macbook's trackpad). Above some threshold, macOS just perform the space switch with absolutely no transition. A friend of mine, Yaël 🛸, made a quick prototype in Objective-C, and it magically worked! The Solution So, I asked my friend if we could make it a proper macOS app together, in a beautiful minimalist package, and he said yes! So, we launched Space Rabbit, a tiny 2MB fully native macOS app, that allows you to optimize macOS spaces for productivity! Space Rabbit is a full rewrite of the initial prototype in modern Swift, with a tray menu bar to configure the app, and a settings window, in a macOS app packaging. Space Rabbit can be downloaded right here: We just released V2 of the app last week, fixing a ton of little bugs, especially for dual screen setups. It's actively maintained to this day as it's my daily driver. The app is open-source: and will always be free, as it's helping improve our productivity in our daily Web Dev tasks for our main businesses. We'll be happy to implement more features from user requests, if you find this app useful and use it daily!

built my own version of after effects native to agents. - the agent produces motion in fully editable layers and it can improve the tool itself by adding new features or controls on the fly. - each project becomes its own version of the tool, with custom extensions, layers, or effects that the agent implements. - native macOS app, so it can handle high resolutions and complex workflows with dozens of layers/effects. planning to open-source, dm if you want to give it a try!

This is huge. OpenAI just acquired Global Illumination – the company behind the popular open-source MMORPG game Biomes. Fun fact: Biomes is built entirely on web technologies like Next.js, Typescript, and WASM, which means that it runs in browser – no download required!

A quality of life improvement I’m excited for! You can now open the agent chat panel into a new window on the Figma desktop app for both macOS and Windows. It stays visible when you work with other tools or switch tabs. Here's what's new: → Open the agent chat into its own window → Move it anywhere on your screen → Keep it visible while you design

Built a VB6 Studio Web: a browser-native IDE, VB-style source runtime, form designer, browser control library, debugger, and single-file HTML application exporter. Imagine you can build any app in RAD IDE using real VB6 and then just download single page static HTML app.
