This atmosphere of hatred and threats has the potential to destroy livelihoods built over generations. We further urge the HCM, to take immediate and decisive action by directing the authorities to register cases against the fringe and right-wing elements involved under the relevant provisions of law. Strict action will send a strong message that communal bigotry has no place in a progressive and inclusive society. The Himachal Pradesh government has taken note of the communal harassment of two Kashmiri shawl sellers in Surjanpur Village, in Kangra District. The woman involved has been detained and is currently being questioned by the authorities. She has expressed deep regret for her actions and issued a formal apology. While the police were fully prepared to file an FIR, the victims (Kashmiri Shawl Sellers), in a remarkable gesture of forgiveness, has chosen to pardon her and requested the police not to proceed with lodging the FIR. May better sense prevail, and may peace and harmony continue to guide our paths forward. Have received another chilling video. A Kashmiri shawl seller Jehangir Ahmad was mercilessly thrashed by fringe elements in Dehra, Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh in yet another shocking incident of harassment. He has sustained fractures and multiple injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Himachal Pradesh. This is the 16th case this year in HP involving the targeting of Kashmiri shawl sellers. The victim was threatened and told to leave the state, not allowed to sell his shawls, his belongings were vandalised, and his mobile phone was smashed when he tried to record the incident. He has been selling shawls in the area for the past 15 years and is not a newcomer. He has lived peacefully within the local community and earned his livelihood with dignity. Despite this, he was abused, threatened with death, and asked to vacate the area immediately. He was also warned that Kashmiris would not be allowed to work there. We urge the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Ji, to take immediate and decisive action by directing the authorities to register a case against the fringe and right-wing elements involved under the relevant provisions of law. Such behaviour must not go unchecked. Strict action will send a strong message that communal bigotry has no place in a progressive and inclusive society. We have received deeply disturbing and chilling reports from Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, where a Kashmiri shawl seller Bilal Ahmad was brutally assaulted by a group of Bajrang Dal workers led by Ankur Singh. He is not a newcomer. He has been selling shawls in Udham Singh Nagar for the past 9–10 years, living peacefully within the community. Despite this, he was threatened, asked to vacate the area and leave the state immediately, his stock was looted, and he was even threatened with death. We urge the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami Ji, to immediately intervene, put an end to this reign of terror, and ensure the prompt arrest of the culprits. We also request the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah Sahab, to urgently take up the matter with his counterpart in Uttarakhand and ensure protection for Kashmiri traders. We further appeal to the Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Amit Shah Ji, for his personal intervention in this grave matter. Kashmiris are not outsiders in India. We have received deeply disturbing and chilling reports from Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, where a Kashmiri shawl seller Bilal Ahmad was brutally assaulted by a group of Bajrang Dal workers led by Ankur Singh. He is not a newcomer. He has been selling shawls in Udham Singh Nagar for the past 9–10 years, living peacefully within the community. Despite this, he was threatened, asked to vacate the area and leave the state immediately, his stock was looted, and he was even threatened with death. We urge the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami Ji, to immediately intervene, put an end to this reign of terror, and ensure the prompt arrest of the culprits. We also request the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah Sahab, to urgently take up the matter with his counterpart in Uttarakhand and ensure protection for Kashmiri traders. We further appeal to the Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Amit Shah Ji, for his personal intervention in this grave matter. Kashmiris are not outsiders in India. We are equal citizens and an integral part of this country, entitled to the same rights, freedoms, and protections as any other Indian under the Constitution. Targeting innocent Kashmiri traders and forcing them out of cities only deepens alienation and mistrust. Update on Assault on Kashmiri Shawl Seller by Bajrang Dal Workers in Uttarakhand: Upon raising the matter, the Director General of Police (DGP) Uttarakhand, has informed that an FIR has been registered in connection with the brutal assault on a Kashmiri shawl seller in Kashipur. Despite the brutal assault and nationwide outrage over the attack on an 18-year-old Kashmiri shawl seller in Vikas Nagar, Uttarakhand, the prime accused, Sanjay Yadav, has been granted bail in less than a week; raising serious concerns that the matter is being quietly hushed up, seems undue pressure may be at play, and the prosecution is being deliberately diluted. An elderly Kashmiri Muslim man, Mohd Wali Shah from Anantnag Kashmir, who was in Saharanpur Uttar Pradesh for medical purposes, was questioned, mistreated, and threatened by local goons. This incident marks the eighth such case reported this year, reflecting a deeply alarming and recurring pattern. The accused, Yashasvi Arya, a resident of Village Ramdaspur (also known as Nagal, Badheri Koli), Saharanpur, who claims to be the National President of the Hindu Yuva Shakti Sangathan, along with his associates, has been filmed intercepting, intimidating, and harassing Kashmiri Muslim vendors and patients visiting the area. In the second video footage, Arya is seen using abusive and violent language, issuing open threats, and deliberately attempting to instil fear among Kashmiri Muslims. In a second video, he is heard stating, We will treat Kashmiri Muslims the way Kashmiri Pandits were treated, while making sweeping and deeply offensive claims that all Kashmiris; whether doctors or otherwise; only know how to make bombs and carry weapons. He further urged members of the Hindu community not to allow Kashmiris into their homes. These statements and actions clearly amount to hate speech, criminal intimidation, and a calculated attempt to incite communal hatred, posing a serious threat to public order, national unity, and the constitutional rights of citizens. An elderly Kashmiri Muslim man, Mohd Wali Shah from Anantnag Kashmir, who was in Saharanpur Uttar Pradesh for medical purposes, was questioned, mistreated, and threatened by local goons. The Punjab Chief Secretary informed us that Dr. Nitin Tandon has been removed from the position of Vice Chancellor with immediate effect, and that a high-level inquiry has been constituted. The university has also initiated an internal investigation. Also, the Punjab Government has set up a high-level committee, headed by the SDM, to conduct a thorough and time-bound inquiry into the incident, including any administrative lapses or misconduct. Shahi Imam Punjab, Maulana Mohammad Usman Rahmani Ludhianvi, also visited the campus, met both students and university authorities, and played a constructive role in facilitating dialogue to de-escalate tensions and restore normalcy. Bakshi Nagar Police in Jammu have arrested a suspected thief and turned the incident into a public spectacle by placing a garland of shoes around his neck and making him sit on the bonnet of their official vehicle. How can J&K Police justify such inhuman and degrading treatment? This reeks of medieval vigilantism rather than constitutional policing. Around 1,300 Kashmiri students are currently studying in Iran and are now stranded amid the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. The situation has left them traumatized, terrified, and extremely vulnerable. Parents are deeply distressed and anxious about the safety and well-being of their children. Many students are living under constant psychological stress and insecurity. They have reported hearing airstrike sirens, experiencing tremors, and witnessing heightened military activity in their areas. Some are even residing in cities where airstrikes have already taken place. The repeated attacks and worsening crisis have left the students frightened and helpless. Many of them have shared their fear, saying, "We are very scared. Our parents back home are extremely worried." My Take on the Viral Video Alleging Support for Suicide Bombing by a Kashmiri Student! When suicide is haram in Islam, suicide bombing is equally haram. It involves not only taking one’s own life but also harming and killing others. Islam strictly prohibits suicide, and suicide bombing compounds this sin by taking the lives of innocent people, making it an even greater crime in the eyes of God. Even if, for the sake of argument, someone claims to act out of conviction or unaddressed grievances, Islam does not permit responding to injustice by committing an even greater injustice. A suicide bomber ends their own life while killing people who have no connection to their grievances. This constitutes multiple sins before God: suicide, the killing of innocents, spreading fear, and creating chaos on earth; all of which are explicitly forbidden. The Qur’an states that killing even a single innocent person is akin to killing all of humanity. There is no legitimacy or justification for suicide bombing in Islam or in the Qur’an. Islamic teachings do not allow the targeting of civilians under any circumstance. My Take on the Viral Video Alleging Support for Suicide Bombing by a Kashmiri Student! When suicide is haram in Islam, suicide bombing is equally haram. It involves not only taking one’s own life but also harming and killing others. Islam strictly prohibits suicide, and suicide bombing compounds this sin by taking the lives of innocent people, making it an even greater crime in the eyes of God. Even if, for the sake of argument, someone claims to act out of conviction or unaddressed grievances, Islam does not permit responding to injustice by committing an even greater injustice. KASHMIR BLACK DAY 1. First of all, thank you very much for inviting me to share some thoughts on this solemn occasion – in commemorating the Kashmir Black Day which essentially marks the beginning of the occupation of the State of Jammu and Kashmir by India since 1947. 2. It has indeed been a very long time since the occupation started and recent treatments of India on the occupied territories do not reflect that it plans to reconsider its occupation let alone end it anytime soon. 3. In fact, India is forcefully bullying any opposition to its occupation while at the same time tightening its grip on these territories. 4. And woe upon us that while the border politics are being played out, atrocities committed on the Jammu and Kashmiri populace persists and we and all those who are concerned, watch helplessly on the side lines. 5. I do not like to draw parallels to acts of injustice and crimes against humanity as the sufferings of the victims cannot be equated from one to another. 6. And we can never really fathom the depths of these sufferings, the pain and scars that remain etched on the victims and their kin for as long as they live. 7. But parallels in the hypocrisy, the double-standards, deceptions and lies committed by perpetrators of these atrocities are similar. It is only the scale that may differ at times – as each tries to outdo the other when they terrorise their victims relentlessly and with impunity. 8. What are their hypocrisy, lies, deceptions and double-standards? 9. On the one hand, these ruthless regimes proclaim to be advocates of democracy while they commit apartheid. They express anger and disgust when their victims retaliate and hit back at them, usually on minute scale, disproportionately compared with their vicious attacks. 10. They label freedom fighters as terrorists, hiding the fact that their apartheid policies, genocide and ethnic cleansing activities for decades cannot, but spawn aggressive retaliation from those occupied. 11. And why do these occupied people resort to militancy and aggression? 12. Isn’t that to be expected from a people who had been bullied, stripped of their dignity and witness to the murders of their loved ones while the rest of the civilised world turn a blind eye. 13. Don’t all these narratives sound the same – be it in Palestine, in Jammu/Kashmir, South Africa or even Ireland in the not too distant past? 14. For that matter, most of these problems are inherited from the colonial past as they divide and carve up their former colonies and distributed them at their whims without considering the interest of the populace. 15. Unluckily today, despite contributing to the crises, the former colonialists and their allies chose to support the new occupiers and the results as we witness today are the massacres and genocide of the occupied. 16. Right now, the world watches in horror as Israel unleashes its military might on helpless Palestinians, justifying it as retaliations to terror acts committed by Hamas. 17. Israel intends to choke Palestinians in Gaza out of existence by cutting off all basic and essential supplies and at the same time suggesting that civilians in Gaza move out of the occupied territories so that it can then hit only at Hamas target and not the civilians. 18. While Israel blames Hamas for its attacks on Gaza, it does not explain why the murderous Tel Aviv regime attacks West Bank which is devoid of Hamas. 19. In fact, for the past seven decades, of which almost half of that period was without Hamas, Israel had been attacking and killing Palestinian civilians including babies with impunity. 20. Hamas and other Palestinians who decide to take up arms and fight against Israel are children and grandchildren of Palestinian civilians the Israeli regime had murdered in the past. 21. Using the same playbook, India is justifying its invasion and occupation of Jammu and Kashmir as part of an effort to eradicate militants and terrorists and to protect its border. 22. India’s revocation of Jammu/Kashmir’s autonomy unilaterally four years ago saw the deployment of hundreds of thousands of soldiers into the illegally occupied territories of Jammu and Kashmir. Along with that atrocities were committed, while placing the whole population under siege. 23. International bodies had reported that an atmosphere of fear and reprisal had ensured silence. 24. We have also heard reports of how India is attempting to change the demographic composition of Jammu and Kashmir by settling non-Muslim outsiders in the Muslim majority areas. 25. In many ways, it is not different than the Israeli settlers who forcefully evict Palestinians from their homes in land grab activities sanctioned by the Tel Aviv regime. And to ensure that the process is successful, it deploys the IDF to accompany the settlers. 26. Resistance were met with such viciousness that some helpless Palestinians just submit themselves to the mercy of the occupying forces. 27. But there are Palestinians, as in the case of the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir who would not leave their fate in the hands of providence. 28. They retaliate and fight for their freedom and liberation by any means available to them, most times unconventional. 29. The minute they retaliate and any casualties are inflicted on the occupying forces, a prepared narrative emerges almost immediately – militants from these occupied territories had committed acts of terror on the occupiers. 30. With that the Western powers which had decades of opportunities to put a stop to the occupations and assist in the liberation of the occupied peoples, side with the occupiers and regurgitate the convenient labelling of terrorists and terrorism at the freedom fighters. 31. It is indeed baffling that these leaders of the so-called civilised West cannot even understand the meaning of the term occupied territories. And they do not seem to be able to comprehend a simple concept that those standing up against the occupation are the heroes and that the occupiers are the villains. 32. What can we do against the oppressive occupiers and the powerful backers? 33. Not much actually other than continue voicing our anger and disgust to what is happening in these occupied territories. 34. We must persist in exposing the cruelties, the atrocities and the hypocrisy of the self-anointed guardian of global morality when they are actually the perpetrator of evil and backers of greater evil. 35. It seems their hypocrisy and cruelties are bottomless as when we think we had witnessed the worst there is in mankind, they come up with atrocities we can never imagine before. 36. To the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We remember you and we feel for you. We pray for your deliverance and may Allah liberate you from the tyranny. Wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. ARE COLONIAL WHITES TO BLAME FOR THE STATE OF AFRICA TODAY? DO THEY HAVE ANY RESPONSIBILITY? I am posing this question and re-posting part of an earlier threat as a separate tweet just to capture this point. This is also arising from the claims of some that Africa has been independent for so long so much that there is no more reason to blame colonial whites for the state of Africa. It is being suggested by some that all blame should be laid at the feet of "corrupt and incompetent African leaders". Let's be clear, many an African leader has been a serious disappointment, some have been corrupt, some incompetent. But perhaps, the question also needs to be asked: what kind of African leader has this been? Is this the Pan African leader that actually fought for Africa and was selected by Africans, or is it the comprador bourgeoisie puppet leader imposed on Africa by the colonialists? Yes, it's been almost 30 years since the independence of South Africa and 43 years since the independence of Zimbabwe and some 60 years since the independence of Ghana, the DR Congo and others. While one would have expected a lot of progress to have been made - and a lot of progress was being made in the early days - one must also ask the question: what kind of leadership did post-colonial Africa get? It is instructive to note that in almost every single African country, there was destabilisation after destabilisation: coups, assassination of African leaders, and replacement with western puppets. In Ghana, the CIA overthrew the Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and replaced him with their puppet Joseph Arthur Ankrah, decapitating Ghana's progress in the process. In Ivory Coast the French installed Félix Houphouët-Boigny who would go on to rule for decades, actively serving the interests of France. In the DR Congo the Belgians and CIA and their accolytes Moise Tshombe and Joseph Kasavubu, assassinated Patrice Emery Lumumba and installed Mobutu Sese Seko. The same would happen to Thomas Sankara who they assassinated and replaced with their puppet Blaise Compaoré. In Nigeria they overthrew Nnamdi Azikiwe and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and replaced them with their puppets. In Ethiopia they overthrew Emperor Haile Selassie and replaced him with the dictator and Genocidaire Mengistu Haile Mariam. In Zimbabwe they decapitated Dr. Joshua Nkomo through Genocide against his people and placed Mugabe in power instead of him. In Uganda they used Idi Amin to overthrow Apollo Milton Obote and Uganda has never been the same. In Mali they overthrew Modibo Keita and replaced him with Moussa Traoré. In Togo they had assassinated Silvanus Olympio and replaced him with their puppets. In Mozambique and Angola they fomented rebellions in Renamo under Afonso Dhlakama and Jonas Savimbi and decapitated any progress. In the frontline states that were opposed ot Apartheid, bombing raids were carried out by the South African Defence Force, in addition to all kinds of subversion and sabotage. Tanzania, Zambia, Angola and other frontline states were to suffer both under the hands of the Apartheid Government and the Americans and Europeans. ARE COLONIAL WHITES TO BLAME FOR THE STATE OF AFRICA TODAY? DO THEY HAVE ANY RESPONSIBILITY? I am posing this question and re-posting part of an earlier threat as a separate tweet just to capture this point. This is also arising from the claims of some that Africa has been independent for so long so much that there is no more reason to blame colonial whites for the state of Africa. It is being suggested by some that all blame should be laid at the feet of "corrupt and incompetent African leaders". Let's be clear, many an African leader has been a serious disappointment, some have been corrupt, some incompetent. But perhaps, the question also needs to be asked: what kind of African leader has this been? Is this the Pan African leader that actually fought for Africa and was selected by Africans, or is it the comprador bourgeoisie puppet leader imposed on Africa by the colonialists? Yes, it's been almost 30 years since the independence of South Africa and 43 years since the independence of Zimbabwe and some 60 years since the independence of Ghana, the DR Congo and others. While one would have expected a lot of progress to have been made - and a lot of progress was being made in the early days - one must also ask the question: what kind of leadership did post-colonial Africa get? It is instructive to note that in almost every single African country, there was destabilisation after destabilisation: coups, assassination of African leaders, and replacement with western puppets. In Ghana, the CIA overthrew the Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and replaced him with their puppet Joseph Arthur Ankrah, decapitating Ghana's progress in the process. In Ivory Coast the French installed Félix Houphouët-Boigny who would go on to rule for decades, actively serving the interests of France. In the DR Congo the Belgians and CIA and their accolytes Moise Tshombe and Joseph Kasavubu, assassinated Patrice Emery Lumumba and installed Mobutu Sese Seko. The further the inquiries go, the further the truth recedes. The inquiry's retreat into managed caution mirrors the original betrayal. Once again, those who hold power speak of compassion while concealing the cause. The same instinct that told police officers to stay silent now guides Whitehall. Protect relationships, preserve reputations, and avoid offence at all costs. Real justice will not come from committees or reviews. It will come only when the country stops managing the story and starts telling it, when it names who did this, why it was ignored, and who still benefits from silence. The survivors who walked away from the inquiry understood something the rest of us refuse to see. You cannot heal a wound that the state refuses to admit exists. Their withdrawal was not despair. It was defiance. They have refused to play their assigned role in another performance of forgetting. And so the burden returns to the rest of us. If the institutions built to tell the truth will not do it, then it falls to citizens to speak plainly. To confront what was done, to remember who was silenced, and to insist that moral equality means moral courage. Until that happens, the estimated 100,000 betrayed girls will remain symbols of a nation still lying to itself. The inquiry has stalled. The cover up continues. Survivors who once believed the inquiry would deliver justice have walked away, saying it was designed to protect institutions rather than expose them. Evidence has been ring fenced, language softened, and uncomfortable lines of questioning quietly erased. This is not accountability. It is choreography. The state has learned to perform contrition while keeping the machinery of denial intact. Each new report repeats the same phrases, "systemic failure," "lessons learned," "moving forward", as if repetition were justice. What it achieves instead is distance. The further the inquiries go, the further the truth recedes. The inquiry's retreat into managed caution mirrors the original betrayal. Once again, those who hold power speak of compassion while concealing the cause. The same instinct that told police officers to stay silent now guides Whitehall. Protect relationships, preserve reputations, and avoid offence at all costs. Real justice will not come from committees or reviews. It will come only when the country stops managing the story and starts telling it, when it names who did this, why it was ignored, and who still benefits from silence. The survivors who walked away from the inquiry understood something the rest of us refuse to see. You cannot heal a wound that the state refuses to admit exists. Their withdrawal was not despair. It was defiance. They have refused to play their assigned role in another performance of forgetting. And so the burden returns to the rest of us. If the institutions built to tell the truth will not do it, then it falls to citizens to speak plainly. To confront what was done, to remember who was silenced, and to insist that moral equality means moral courage. Until that happens, the estimated 100,000 betrayed girls will remain symbols of a nation still lying to itself. The inquiry has stalled. The cover up continues. It is a monument to fear, to cowardice, and to the terrible power of silence. No matter the cost. We must fight it. _________ This isn't about politics anymore.
