A generation has grown up alongside their loved ones with disabilities — 34 years after the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed. But advocates say there is much more to be done when it comes to health care for people with disabilities.

Their efforts changed the minds — and the votes — of elected officials and resulted in the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The power of the people is much greater than the people in power. We can’t wait for our leaders to act. We have to lead.
