“It’s just a little thing who cares”. The little things come together to make the soul of a game

If I remember correctly, that bridge interface is the first interaction Chief has with Forerunner technology. In the Flood novel, he has an instinctual, almost spiritual connection to the design of the interface. It stands out as eerily familiar, and that alone is a charged idea. As if the design is so human in it's nature that it transcends learned knowledge. That would require 343 to accept an idea they've been shitting on and refusing to accept for over a decade. So it makes sense they would rip that out and bury it.

such a subtly significant moment completely glossed over... 🫠

its so obvious that 343 were genuinely like “why did this even cutscene exist? why the spooky music? It doesnt make any sense. Just get rid of it.” and then literally no one questioned that decision.

The mystique is gone. 343 has never understood why the Forerunners were interesting; They were at their strongest lore-wise when we knew nothing about them that people in-setting didn't know. But, no, they HAVE to explain it all. Give them three books. EVERYONE knows it ALL.

I feel like they genuinely despise the Bungie era of Halo and from that, Halo as a whole. Such a sad state of affairs these last 15 years have been.

yeah i was interested by this, it almost felt like “you’ve seen it before lol”

@IVAN_dtk People get mad at me when I say I want these morons fired, but this is a prime example why it’s required. They are useless!

the whole universe taken for granted, so much so the spectacular is seen as the mundane.

My first question was "can you still shoot out the glass so MC looks tiny in the cutscene?" only for the answer to be "no, lmao, fuck you, there is no cutscene".

Fuck, that is anti-climatic. I mean, this is supposed to be the first time we see Forerunner Hard-Light tech.

We need a whole cutscene for a bridge turning on 😭, if this was never featured in the og yall would be demolishing them for making that a cutscene

holy shit the new version barely even makes a fucking sound this is awful

This is how you know the developers didn't understand what they were working on

No fucking way they ruined this too????? Do they even like the game they’re remaking???? 😭😭😭

Really, it's just a showcase of tech for that era but even then it became something more than just that narratively as reflections on the moment revealed something more. The question of how Chief managed to operate impossibly ancient tech answered by a reverent implication.

What is wrong with this? This "cut scene" always felt slow and unnecessary. Having no cut scene allows the player to discover it for themselves

god you really cant satisfy halo fans, they bitch about when theres a small cutscene to press buttons in halo 4 & 5 because its “not halo” then when you press a button in halo campaign evolved they bitch there isnt a full length cutscene because its “taking the soul out of halo”

This cutscene was the thing that made me feel like I was discovering a new civilization when I was a kid. But I get tho, it one of those "little things" that executives always cut.

I like how in "the flood" chief just knows which button to press. Cortana gets really confused about it

I didnt get that cutscene in CEA, so I dont know what you are talking about

Not people crying about a slight cutscene of a bridge being built lmao. Especially when it was so easily skipped if you accidentally pressed the trigger or melee button. Insufferable shit right here in these comments

Humans were supposed to be a devolved version of the Forerunners. That’s where the story was supposed to go until 343 ruined it…

WOW, they have extremely long cutscenes that stretches out interests but they can't animate this and the deployment cutscene at the start of the game

H:CE has these really eerie moments throughout the game that both remakes completely missed

NGL but I don't really care for the cutscene. Even knowing about Humans being Forerunner, my first impression of this was "oh, they have light bridges". Like, aside from the music, I don't feel the mystique in this scene (but I do in other parts of the game, so it's no biggie)

I mentioned it before when someone noted that the Keyes jump scene was gone, but they made this moment lackluster because they didn't want to bother making another CG cutscene for this moment. This entire process could have been easily avoided if they just did in-engine scenes.

Anyone who defends this game is genuinely a moron. This is the biggest waste of time and development resources I’ve seen in a long time

Brother… lol this is why people hate the halo community. Holy shit this is another level of aids from the community

they should do a halo reboot starting with combat evolved that keeps the forerunners a long-lost civilization and the reasons for why humans can operate this tech a mystery

Cutscene was cool when it was revolutionary to us. “Wow a hard light bridge!” Now it’s a generic staple of Forerunner tech, no need for the spotlight to be aimed at it.

Like I said yesterday, we played this game 25 years ago and it was perfect. The people PAYING for this dogwater slop remake are…idk
