The lovely lighting mechanism on The Havelock Bridge, also known as the Old Godavari Bridge in Rajahmundry! It is a historic, decommissioned railway bridge built in 1900, famous for its stone masonry and steel girders, serving as a key part of the Howrah-Madras line before being replaced by the newer Godavari Arch Bridge that can be seen in the background. It's now planned for development as a heritage tourism spot. With no help from anybody, no government help or anything. If we'd have been kept in the EU we'd have been a lot better off. But a lot of the fishing was conned in my opinion, by the govt saying vote for us and you'll do better with us and they've done worse, they've got nothing now.”

One of the miniatures—complete with servo-operated engines and working lights—was the Onyx Cinder, built by John Goodson and Supervised by John Knoll and our ILM Miniature Unit. The world’s tallest railway pier bridge is rising in Manipur! From the hills of Manipur, Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s vision for last-mile connectivity is taking shape. The Noney Bridge -141m high and 703m long, is being built at a cost of ₹650 crore as part of the ₹21,885 crore Jiribam–Imphal railway line. We asked James Wang why Cerebras can run large models so quickly. His answer: Inference speed is mostly a memory problem. Instead of constantly pulling weights from external memory, Cerebras splits the model across multiple wafers and pipelines the layers together. “Inference is all about memory bandwidth.” “You don’t want to store weights external to the wafer, because the second it’s outside, it becomes much slower.” “We put the weights on the inside.” “The team built a new software stack that basically lets us split the models by layer and store them layer by layer across multiple wafers.” “That allows us to never have to read from external memory, and that’s what makes it so fast.” “For context, Claude is about 100 tokens per second.”

Inspired by Andrej Karpathy's practice of tinkering with smaller GPTs to gain intuition, I've been training small neural nets to play this simple 2d game I created. On the left is a visualization of the neural net firing in real time. Built with Claude, Three.js, and WebGPU and using JAX from Google DeepMind. I’m piping the neuron activation into Ableton as MIDI to trigger Serum 2.

MotionGPT: Human Motion as a Foreign Language paper page: Though the advancement of pre-trained large language models unfolds, the exploration of building a unified model for language and other multi-modal data, such as motion, remains challenging and untouched so far. Fortunately, human motion displays a semantic coupling akin to human language, often perceived as a form of body language. By fusing language data with large-scale motion models, motion-language pre-training that can enhance the performance of motion-related tasks becomes feasible. Driven by this insight, we propose MotionGPT, a unified, versatile, and user-friendly motion-language model to handle multiple motion-relevant tasks. Specifically, we employ the discrete vector quantization for human motion and transfer 3D motion into motion tokens, similar to the generation process of word tokens. Building upon this "motion vocabulary", we perform language modeling on both motion and text in a unified manner, treating human motion as a specific language. Moreover, inspired by prompt learning, we pre-train MotionGPT with a mixture of motion-language data and fine-tune it on prompt-based question-and-answer tasks. Extensive experiments demonstrate that MotionGPT achieves state-of-the-art performances on multiple motion tasks including text-driven motion generation, motion captioning, motion prediction, and motion in-between.
