ETHIOPIA: The ethically motivated forced displacement and demographic engineering in Oromia and Addis Ababa is a form of ethnic-cleansing and must immediately stop. In a country that currently holds the world record for the most number of internally displaced people (IDP), it's inhumane and counter-productive for the Ethiopian govt to conduct forced eviction and home demolition campaigns. An immediate moratorium on demolishing and forced evictions must be declared! According to local media, survivors and eyewitnesses, thousands of residents and students in the Kolfe neighborhood of Addis Ababa were attacked today by police for protesting the government's demolition of homes and the forced evictions of thousands of families in and around Addis Ababa. Just a few days ago, the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) - ኢሰመኮ) condemned the government for these ethnically motivated discriminatory evictions and human rights violations. Pushing ethnic minorities in the Oromia region and the people of Addis Ababa into a corner will backfire on Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 and exacerbate the unprecedented humanitarian crises in #Ethiopia. Today's unrest in the Kolfe (ኮልፌ) neighborhood of Addis Ababa is a sign. We call for an immediate eviction moratorium in and around Addis Ababa to stop the unnecessary and massive displacement of citizens. 🚨 Breaking: Reports show the Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 regime has begun supplying mechanized weapons to Oromia Special Forces as ENDF withdraws from Oromia and redeploys north. This move contravenes the Ethiopian Constitution, which stipulates that only the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) may be equipped with mechanized weaponry. Ethio Focus News previously reported that the Oromia Region has been purchasing weapons on the global market after receiving authorization from the federal government, another constitutional violation, as procurement authority is granted exclusively to the ENDF. According to sources cited by Ethio Focus News, weapons purchased by the Oromia Region were transported from Djibouti to Oromia on December 21, 2025. The Oromia Special Forces would become the only regional force granted such privileges. This development comes three years after the Abiy regime announced the disbandment of all regional special forces, a process that only targeted the Amhara Regional Forces and triggered the war in Amhara that has continued for the past three years. Notably, two days ago, the Oromia Police Commission called on former members, including regular officers, special forces personnel, and VIP protection units, who had left the service due to discharge or other reasons to rejoin within one week. Sources indicate the objective is to rapidly train and arm up to one million militias in Oromia in preparation for a broader conflict. Sources further confirm that Oromia forces are currently deployed in multiple regions and federal cities across the country, including Addis Ababa, Harar, Dire Dawa, Gambella, Asosa (Benishangul-Gumuz Region), and the Amhara Region. #Ethiopia: A dangerous approach Mesqel (The finding of the true cross) is a religeous celebration of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. The EOTC's followers are estimated to account for more than half of Ethiopia's 110 million population. Irrecha is a religeous festival celebrated by a section of the estimated 27 million Oromo people of Ethiopia. Both are celebrated in the month of September. While the orthodox christians use the green-yellow-red colour ethiopian flag without the emblem, also known as the Pan-African colours (For some time, EPRDF had imposed that only the flag with the emblem could be used during religeous celebrations as well), the Irreccha festival is decorated with the flag of Oromia, black-red-white, without the emblem, also known as the symbol of Oromuma. In recent years, and especially this September, followers of the orthodox christian faith were controlled and their belongings confisicated by security forces when found in possession of the green-yellow-red colour during the meskel celebration. No such signs was seen on the streets of Addis Ababa as well. Other areas of the country, except for Addis Ababa and Oromia, observed the celebration following their century old tradition. Today, Addis Ababa is decorated with the black-red-white symbol, with no restriction or prohibition. Why should one be denied and another permitted to observe his faith as per his tradition? It is clear: identity imposition. This is part of Abiy's PP-Oromuma plan to eradicate the identity (religion, tradition and culture) of millions of orthodox-christian Ethiopians and replace it with that of Oromuma-Prosperity one. Stop playing with fire Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹
