The student pilot had completed several takeoffs and landings with a flight instructor earlier that day and was cleared for solo operations. During a solo landing, the airplane bounced, and the pilot initiated a go-around. During the initial climb, the aircraft pitched up sharply, entered an aerodynamic stall, turned to the left, and descended to the ground. The airplane impacted the left side of the runway, sustained substantial damage, and a post-impact fire ensued. The student pilot sustained minor injuries. A truck crash at Koforidua Agavenya Last Stop last night left two people injured after the vehicle reportedly suffered brake failure. According to eyewitnesses, the truck veered off the road, struck a roadside Indomie vendor, and crashed into a nearby building. The food vendor and the truck driver both sustained injuries and were quickly rushed to the hospital for treatment. The police and fire service, responded promptly and brought the situation under control. Fortunately, the room the truck crashed into was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

Senior Officer Sean Jones with the Woods Cross Police Department said police received word of the crash at Skypark Airport at approximately 8:49 a.m on Friday. Jones said the pilot reported there was no mechanical failure, and noted there were no signs of impairment when speaking with the pilot. The National Transportation Safety Board says they will be investigating.

They were on a routine training mission when the incident happened. The crash site is in a heavily wooded area near Blooming Grove Road and Corinth Road, making access difficult. Local law enforcement, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are all assisting in securing the scene. The Air Force is calling it a "mishap."
