While this looks great and is well executed, there's a reason it isn't done. Adding friction, however subtle, at the point where customers try to pay you always comes at a loss. This isn't the place to add whimsy.

You're definitely designing for holographic interfaces in 2057.

It's just fancy, this thing will decrease your conversion rates for various reasons. Plus user needs an additional click which will lead to maximum confusion.
