The same active region that produced the flare also unleashed a coronal mass ejection that reached Earth on April 1… but that’s not what produced this week’s geomagnetic storm on April 2! 👇

Their positions on the Sun’s “edge,” as viewed from Earth, means they weren't aimed towards our planet. But the sidelong angle does give us a better view of their accompanying coronal mass ejections as they escape into space! 🤩 More on flares & coronal mass ejections:
