I’m thrilled to announce that we just released GraspGen, a multi-year project we have been cooking at NVIDIA Robotics 🚀 GraspGen: A Diffusion-Based Framework for 6-DOF Grasping Grasping is a foundational challenge in robotics 🤖 — whether for industrial picking or general-purpose humanoids. VLA + real data collection is all the rage now but is expensive and scales poorly for this task. For every new gripper and/or scene, you’ll have to recollect the dataset in this paradigm for the best perf. 💡Key Idea: Since grasping is such a well-defined task in simulation - why can’t we just scale synthetic data generation and train a generative model for grasping? By embracing modularity and standardized grasp formats, we can make this a turnkey technology that works zero-shot for multiple settings. GraspGen is a modular framework for diffusion-based 6-DOF grasp generation that scales across embodiment types, observability conditions, clutter, task complexity. Key Features: ✅ Multi-embodiment support: suction, parallel-jaw, and multi-fingered grippers ✅ Generalization to partial + complete 3D point clouds ✅ Generalization to single-objects + cluttered scenes ✅ Modular design uses other robotics modules and foundation models (SAM2, cuRobo, FoundationStereo, FoundationPose). Xynova just launched Flex 2, its second-gen hybrid dexterous hand — and Xiaomi is already on the cap table. 🤖✋ The spec sheet is sharp: 23 DOF, 400g palm, ±0.1mm repeatability, 0.05N force control, 12kg single-hand grasp load, and multimodal sensing for adaptive grasping and slip detection. 📢 Announcing one of the most exciting works from us this year on **scalable robot policy evaluation through real-to-sim transfer**, moving toward a scalable evaluation engine with structured world models that capture the appearance, geometry, and dynamics of environments involving deformable objects. 🤖 Evaluation remains one of the biggest bottlenecks in building general-purpose robots. Today, robots are still evaluated only in the real world, which is **orders of magnitude slower** than the development of language agents. We propose a new framework where simulation performance **strongly correlates** with the real world (r > 0.9), even for deformable objects. The key difference from existing work lies in the correlation between simulation and reality: if a robot model performs better in the digital world, does it also perform better in the real world? This question has long made people hesitant about simulation-based evaluation — especially for deformable objects. We are changing that. Our pipeline achieves effective real-to-sim transfer, establishing **state-of-the-art correlation** between simulation and reality for deformable object manipulation. It provides a **scalable and reproducible evaluation engine** for robot learning. 🌐

(Similar to what Physical Intelligence did with "Hi Robot") I can now verbally tell the robot that I'm building a red Lego wall or wooden tower, and it will infer the next steps by itself and pass me the necessary pieces, tools, or materials, ha! You can also just ask it to bring you things! The pipeline works as follows: - OpenAI Whisper (local) → speech to text - Gemini → makes sense of user requests, converts to robot tasks, bounding boxes, grasping points, etc. (System 2 thinking FTW!) - π0 → robotic actions The π0 was finetuned just for pick-and-place Lego bricks only, and it generalizes beautifully to all kinds of tasks. However, there's lots of room for improvement when it comes to grasping & accuracy. Things that could help: - Conditioning on grasping points - Better data collection (I'm not that great at teleop) - Lots more synthetic data and simulations

It’s been a massive week for embodied AI foundation models: the pace of this field is truly staggering. Throwing it back to the SimToolReal work by Kushal and Tyler Lum (Cornell & Stanford labs). In February, they achieved zero-shot tool manipulation across 24 tasks using a single RL policy and a robotic arm fitted with the SharpaWave hand. Watching the robot nail these high-speed in-hand rotations is incredible. The precision is especially impressive when you consider the policy was never trained on these specific objects or tasks. This is what solving the manipulation bottleneck looks like. ⚡️
