🚨 A “routine” stop turned violent after the driver calmly asked “Why am I being pulled over?” The cop barked “You’re going to jail,” smashed the window, yanked him out, then arrested his wife for recording. Every charge was dropped.

Name the cops because they need to have their personal reputations ruined.

You only have to provide ID if you were lawfully pulled over. The cop should have told him the lawful reason to the person was pulled over. It was not difficult. This is the 4th amendment. Unprofessional!

Fighting hard alongside the ACLU, Calvin and his wife were cleared off all charges, and police in Taylor, Michigan, now have to tell people why they pulled someone over.

...but no repercussions for the cops, no accountability. Cops are domestic terrorists and domestic enemies of the US Constitution. Time to start dealing with them accordingly as well as the judges who aid and embed their racketeering behavior.

The officer is absolutely expected to state the reason for the stop before asking for identification, and registration. More training, and a psychological evaluation should be necessary for positions of authority. This could have been avoided if the officer had properly stated the reason for stop, then kindly ask for his license title and POI. Just because you have a badge, unless you site the law that is being broken, you do not have the right to random stops. I think it circles back to the flock camera systems and tag readers, which are unlawful in my opinion. But the state and local governments love let A I, film and monitor the speeds or if someone runs a light, or stop sign, so they can send tickets to citizens via mail, and shake them down for money, many people pay them, but if you read the back, you don't have to especially if an officer did not pull you over and write you a ticket, if you did not sign the ticket, its void. It will be dismissed easily in court, so do not fall for those petty tactics for municipalities to steal your money. What a joke ! It's a dirty way to operate and should not be allowed.

Both should be fired prevented from ever being law-enforcement ever again. He violently fell to the floor, and if there wasn’t a camera, he probably would’ve shot somebody and blamed it on them. You can’t do this anymore. It’s outrageous.

In most states you're required to provide ID in a traffic stop. The cop was still an abusive asshole. I can think of no valid basis for him to have refused to tell the driver why he's been pulled over. Apparently there has been new policy put in place.

Whatever, it's not a law that they have to tell you, just the courts. Its just basic humanity. It shouldn't need to be a law, it should be information freely given from the outset, name, department, reason. Thats basic manners you teach children.

I was arrested not long ago, put in cuffs and sat on the ground for 20 minutes. All because they "got a call" as they said. I was literally walking home. And I investigated - there was no report or record of this interaction with the police. Fuck these tyrants.

Unfortunately, most states allow wide latitude to demand ID in traffic stops, and the power game is on if you "obstruct." All that said, only evil people become cops. This cop could have easily taken five seconds and answered the question to deescalate. They want violence.

Charges need to be dropped and the officers' pension fund needs to be violently depleted. These terrorist thugs need to pay personally for their crimes and be blocked from ever working law enforcement again anywhere in the country, AFTER serving prison time for assault.

I have an investigator basically telling why he arrested my elderly father and I on our own property. We called for help, my father was shoulder shoved… We asked the one thug that busted through the gate To leave, get off the property. Apparently we supposedly were the criminals because my elderly father was a dangerous man. He just says stuff that is 💯 true! If we in a life official or you choose to be one I guess then you’re up for public descent and if you can’t handle it get out but it’s not a crime when it’s true, especially!!

That cop was so high on whatever, he literally shattered the window, what type of demonic strength is that?, just because he’s asked, “Why am I being pulled over?”, this is not a normal reaction. These cops are not normal. “SLAVE PATROL”, yet there are no slaves.🤷🏽‍♀️

WTF? Everyone asks "what did I do" when the cop gets to your window. I hope they sued the police department, and those two cops should be fired.

“I’ll be happy to tell you once I know who I’m talking to” means I’m gonna run your name and make up a crime to justify the stop.

Tyrant cop arrests driver and his wife because the driver asked why he was being pulled over. This incident took place in Taylor, Michigan (a suburb. in the Downriver area of Metro Detroit). Taylor Police officers pulled over a vehicle driven by a man named Calvin Jones. Inside the car with him were his wife, Keithia Jones, and their young son. The officer pulled over Calvin and immediately demanded his ID as well as other paperwork needed for the stop. Calvin inquired as to why he was being pulled over to which the officer doubled down on demanding ID before telling him why he was pulled over. What began as a routine traffic stop instantly turned into a high-stakes standoff due to a fundamental disagreement over roadside procedures: The Driver’s Stance: Calvin Jones wanted to know the exact reason he was being pulled over before handed his identification over to the officers, asking, “You gotta let me know what’s going on, man.” The Officers' Stance: The officers demanded compliance first and answers second. Instead of de-escalating, the officer barked back, “You’re going to jail is what’s going on.” As other officers arrived the officer that conducted the stop began putting on tactical gloves. This is where things go off the rails as the officer completely shattered the driver-side window, forcefully dragged Calvin Jones out of the vehicle, and took him to the ground to execute an arrest. Meanwhile, inside the vehicle, his wife Keithia began recording the unfolding chaos on her cell phone. Because she was filming the interaction, she was also forcefully arrested by responding officers as well. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Michigan stepped in to legally back the family, obtained the raw dashcam footage, and publicly exposed the department's aggressive tactics. The criminal charges against Calvin and Keithia Jones for resisting and obstructing were ultimately dismissed. The ACLU sent a formal complaint to then-Taylor Police Chief Mary Sclabassi, triggering a massive internal affairs investigation. Despite the immense public backlash and the clear visual escalation captured on camera, the Taylor Police Department's internal affairs unit officially cleared the officers of any wrongdoing in August 2017, finding no basis for internal disciplinary action or termination. However, the case forced permanent operational changes within the city: The "Reason for Stop" Policy: Taylor Police instituted a mandatory rule requiring all officers to explicitly state the basis of a traffic stop to a driver during an interaction. De-escalation Training: The department rolled out mandatory retraining focused on officer demeanor and conflict avoidance. Federal Scrutiny: Because the local department cleared the officers, the ACLU anchored this case into a massive petition to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), citing it alongside nearly 20 other incidents to push for a federal investigation into systemic excessive force within the department. In my opinion, the request to ask what you were stopped for is reasonable. The response from the officers is aggressive and it is departments like this one that give police a bad name as you have video evidence like this but instead circle the wagons to protect the bull cop Would love to see your thoughts below.
