A throwback to late January when Edie came calling with tiny Enid, her fifth calf, just a few days old. Edie came to us in 1999, herself only a few months old, after falling into a well and being abandoned by her family at first light. There was a... long stretch when we weren't sure if she had it in her to fight for life – grief-stricken, bruised, refusing her milk. She came through it slowly, with patience from her Keepers and the company of older orphans who refused to give up on her. She is 27 now, and a matriarch in Tsavo. Yara turned one in March. She's the fourth calf of Yatta – the very first orphan we raised to full independence at our Ithumba Reintegration Unit in northern Tsavo. Yara was born in the bush on 29 March 2025. Hours later, Yatta walked Yara up to the stockades alone, no entourage, to show her to the Keepers who'd raised her. It's since become a tradition among nearly all the orphans we raise when they start a family! Yatta was rescued in 1999 from the Yatta Plateau, weeks old, after her mother was killed by poachers for her ivory. Throughout February, the Keepers watched her come in from the bush with Yoyo, Yogi, and little Yara by her side — her three youngest calves, all born wild, all named in her honour. Yara, the newest, is Yatta's fourth calf. She arrived in the world to a ready-made family: two big brothers, a big sister, and a mother who was once a tiny orphan herself. Yatta lost her mother to poachers in 1999, leaving her alone and in a desperate state at only a few weeks old. Nsimba is growing up and learning all the time in the wild, just as elephants should. His mother, Naipoki, however, trod a different path: she fell into a well – twice – when she was just two months old. The second time, predators reached her and we stepped in to rescue her before it was too late. Being raised by humans meant we were there to witness each of her milestone moments. In July 2012, a two-year-old calf was found alone and emaciated on Mgeno Ranch, bordering Tsavo National Park. She had almost certainly lost her mother to poaching. Named after the area where she was found, Panda bypassed our Nairobi Nursery entirely and we raised her at Voi instead, surrounded by the older orphans who understood what she had been through. Now, this once-vulnerable youngster is a mother! In early December 2025, Panda came home for the holidays – and she brought someone with her: her daughter, Panya! Her name means "mouse" in Swahili and it suits her. We now get the privilege of watching Panya grow up when Panda visits, just like this! Remind yourself of the moment we first met Panya:

I genuinely cannot understand how someone can watch this story and still stand there, looking at two women, and somehow decide that the wrong one is the victim. On one side, you have a girl (Yıldız) who has been mistreated her entire life. Since the moment she was born, she was treated like a sacrifice for a conflict she was never even part of and later we find out that this conflict never even existed. Her right to study was taken from her. She was pushed into a marriage at a very young age just imagine being six, seven, eight years old, living in fear of being tied to someone you don’t even know. She was treated like a servant in her own home, by the very people she thought were her family. And just when she gets close to the happiness she dreamed of, the man she was engaged to shows up with another wife. She gets mistreated by that wife, by his family, and even (unintentionally) by him, because he was trying to run away from his own feelings, and that only caused her more heartbreak. The whole world was literally against her. She fought through all of that, only to find out in the end that everything she suffered for was based on something that wasn’t even real. Her entire life was built on a lie. That she isn’t even part of that family that she has literally no one in this world. Now on the other side… You have a girl (Melek) who, yes, was taken from her biological mother but she was raised by loving parents. She had everything anyone could wish for: education, freedom, a happy childhood, a healthy environment. She lived her life, fell in love, went out, made choices and no one questioned her, no one controlled her. And then what did she do? She found out that her man was engaged to another woman before marrying her (and even saw him marry her) and instead of holding on to her dignity, she chose to stay, to fight for a man who lied to her, to hold onto a marriage he tried to end multiple times. She used her unborn child to keep him tied to her. She lied constantly, and her excuse was that she was “protecting her marriage” a marriage that was already broken from the moment Serhat removed that ring at the airport in episode one. She tried to hand Yıldız (a woman who had already suffered enough) over to dangerous people. Then she found out the truth about her own birth (that her father ra*ped her mother.)And still no empathy. No moment of humanity toward her own mother. All she cared about was herself. And even though none of this had anything to do with Yıldız, she still found a way to blame it on her. Instead of holding her father accountable, she went and made a deal with him to get rid of Yıldız. She literally made a deal with the devil just to hurt Yıldız one more time. And after all of that… you want me to feel sorry for her? You want me to call her a victim? I honestly cannot believe we are living on the same planet with people who see this and still say, “she’s the victim.” Not morally. Not logically. Not emotionally. Kendra Lust revealed a story about her nosy neighbour who had asked her for what she does for a living even though she already knew what she does and she had replied confidently that she does Advlt film cause it affords a very good life for her family and that she has a business on the side and she had asked "what about you" she revealed that the neighbors Jaw dropped. In her opinion when you own it and sat it what can people say, she says she is going to say it because she is not ashamed of it. She revealed that the same night the neighbour had divulged a lot of information about her life and her previous marriage. "Sometimes when you become vulnerable or you make yourself vulnerable, people are more inclined to talk with you"

We often joke that Kaikai loves the mud bath so much than she would sleep in it, if she could. This is actually more fact than fiction, as she sometimes manages to catch a few winks in the water! Such was the case here. She turned herself around like the face of a clock, took the briefest of siestas, gave herself another quarter turn just for good measure, and then resumed relaxation. We know better than to rush her – it’s Kaikai’s world; we just live in it! Kaikai is one of the youngest orphans in our care. Her mother died of natural causes when she was just a few days old. Korbessa was just days old when KWS rangers found her at first light, staring up at them from the bottom of a well on the boundary of Meru. She took her subsequent rescue in her stride – after fluids from the vet, she fell into such a deep slumber that she had to be woken to board the plane. At our neonate unit in Kaluku, the newborn nicknamed ‘our little frog’ due to her signature pose when lying down was entrusted to Keeper Joseph, and this footage shows exactly what that meant: wherever he walked, she followed, a tiny shadow with outsized confidence. Zigi is getting his practice in. The head toss is something young bulls do – a display, a bit of showmanship. He is just over a year old, full of bravado and, like his mum, a bit of a mercurial character. He is the son of one of our orphans who went wild. His mother, Zongoloni was rescued in 2013. It was heart-breaking; she was found next to her mother, who was fatally injured from a bullet wound. Fate may have robbed Zongoloni of her mother, but we made sure it didn't rob her of her future. We rescued her, raised her and saw her lead a group of orphans into the wild. After losing her own family, now she is raising her own in the wild. More of their story:

One of the first women that Rachelle met in the clubs had never interacted with a Christian. This woman grew up in extreme poverty, extreme abuse, and her family was in a cult. When she turned 18, they not only sold her to an older man, but also forced her to go into the strip club. When Rachelle met her, she was 18 years old and had no idea that there was kindness in the world. Rachelle began getting to know her and showing up in small ways. She shared with Rachelle how she didn't have food for her daughter. Rachelle would show up with food and eventually, this led her to come to church with her. She ended up giving her life to the Lord after a few times of attending church. However, that next week, she was back in the club. Rachelle said she immediately, as soon as she saw her, dropped to the floor and covered herself. She asked, "Are you okay? Like, what's going on?" The women responded, "For the first time, I actually feel naked." That day, she walked out of the clubs and left. Rachelle and her team helped her get into a transitional living program with her daughter and she is now a licensed counselor at a drug treatment facility—walking alongside other women who have similar stories.

By the time the Keepers let her out, a queue of older girls has formed, waiting to take her out to the forest each morning. This show of love has been pivotal to Zuri's recovery: orphans rescued from wells or pits often have long grieving periods, and the acceptance from the herd from the get-go has helped lessen the psychological blow she suffered at such a young age. “What better feeling than to be free.” — #SarinaEsmailzadeh Sarina was a 16-year-old girl from Karaj, #Iran. One year ago, she took to the streets to protest for freedom in Iran. She was met with brutal violence and was beaten to death by regime security forces. If innocence had a face, it would be Sarina’s. Her wisdom, empathy, and passion for life radiated from her. Her smile and laughter were contagious, and her soul was gentle. We came to know her well through her YouTube videos where she shared her life and spoke out against the injustices faced by Iranians. I’ll never forget when she described the hardships of life in Iran and questioned why her life differed so much from that of teenagers in New York or Los Angeles. She was met with brutal violence and was beaten to death by regime security forces. If innocence had a face, it would be Sarina’s. Her wisdom, empathy, and passion for life radiated from her. Her smile and laughter were contagious, and her soul was gentle. We came to know her well through her YouTube videos where she shared her life and spoke out against the injustices faced by Iranians. I’ll never forget when she described the hardships of life in Iran and questioned why her life differed so much from that of teenagers in New York or Los Angeles.
