Another group of our warriors is back home. Today, Ukrainian servicemen returned from Russian captivity — including members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, particularly the Air Assault Forces, Naval Forces, and Territorial Defense Forces. Also released were service members of the State Border Guard Service, the National Guard, and the State Special Transport Service. Many of them spent nearly two years in captivity. Many have serious injuries and health issues. Most are officers. We know each and every one. We are bringing everyone back. And we continue working to return all. Thank you to everyone who makes this possible every day — and especially to our defenders who stood strong in captivity. Glory to Ukraine!

Today, our long-range sanctions against Russia for this war once again reached the Dubna space communications center in the Moscow region. This is a special satellite communications facility used, in particular, for reconnaissance and for coordinating the activity of Russia’s occupation contingent in Ukraine. The distance from our state border to this facility is more than 500 kilometers. Recently, our Defense Forces of Ukraine already reached four such Russian centers, not only in the Moscow region but also in the Vladimir region. Step by step, we are implementing our plan of long-range sanctions and making it as difficult as possible for the aggressor state to carry out its invasion operations against Ukraine and the occupation of our territories. Since the start of the full-scale war, we have brought 3.310 people back to Ukraine from Russian captivity. We must find and return every one of our people—adults and children, military and civilians. I thank our exchange team, Yermak, Budanov, Malyuk, Lubinets, and Klymenko. I want to also specifically thank the UAE and the Holy See for their mediation in this week’s releases. Our work continues. Today, I met with Nariman Dzhelyal, whom we returned from Russian captivity, to discuss our next steps toward victory, the liberation of our land, and support for the Crimean Tatar people. I also attended the National Prayer Breakfast, where I personally greeted the released priests, Bohdan Heleta and Ivan Levitsky. I thanked all church representatives and religious communities for supporting our people and for helping our state during this incredibly difficult time of war. May all prayers for peace in Ukraine and for our victory be heard.

It is in the national interest of the United States to give Ukraine what they need to repel the Russian invasion. I don’t want our men and women ever fighting in Ukraine and I don’t want to see the day the Russian army crosses a border where we have to go and fight them. Let’s give Ukraine what they need to beat them now, drive them out, and I believe that will not only secure Europe but it will make our Country more secure as a result.
